"I'm really sorry for making you worry.", the earl apologized to everyone. "If you want, aunt Eliza, Meg, Ed; I can take you to the fair in town."
"I'm sorry, but I can't Vincent," Eliza said. "I need to get back to your uncle. But I think Meg and Ed will be happy to go."
"Yes Vin!" Ed said in an excited tone.
"It will be fun!" Meg added.
The earl smiled. "So, this evening?"
Evening came and the three changed into commoner's clothes. Vincent wore a grey shirt with suspenders and shorts with long socks, Ed wore long blue pants, a grey shirt and a brown coat. Meg wore a simple brown dress with long socks.
"Come on, no one will think that we're nobility," Vincent said as they entered the fair. "This way we'll get a real feel of the fair."
Vincent did not wish to do much at the fair, but he had carried a money pouch for his friends who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They played games, saw small competitions and saw all the shops. As night was nearing, clouds started forming and massive winds started blowing.
"Vin, I think we should leave," Meg shouted over the wind. "It might rain-"
The wind grew stronger, pulling some of the stalls out of the ground and crashing into people. The rains began and lightening rained down on the town. The townspeople had never seen a storm like this before. There was chaos everywhere. People were trying to run anywhere they thought was safe. Vincent scanned the crowd for his friends and finally saw them near a tree. He heaved a small sigh of relief to see that they were safe, but just then lightning struck the tree. Vincent saw what was coming. He did not think twice and transformed to reach them in time. Just as the tree was about to collapse on them, he barreled right towards it and kicked it with enough power to break it to pieces. Meg and ed had fainted with shock. Vincent grabbed them and carried them to a safe place. He then rushed back to the fair to avoid other people being crushed to death.
The storm subsided after an hour and a half. The earl flew back to his friends who were yet unconscious and decided to fly them home. Reaching the manor, he transformed back. He never transformed in public, but this situation could not have been avoided.
"Lucian! Camille!", he called from the doorway. He could not carry both Meg and Ed back to their rooms. The maid and butler arrived quickly.
"Master, are you alright?" Camille asked, as she saw the three children drenched and covered in mud.
"Don't worry, we're fine. They just need to be taken to bed. They're exhausted", he reassured her.
"Yes master. I will take the lady. Lucian", she glared at him. "Take the lord to his bedroom. Without mistake."
Lucian shot up straight. "Yes ma'am!" he responded and lifted Edward. He immediately dashed for the boy's room.
Vincent raised an eyebrow questioningly at his butler. "I take that he's only afraid of you?", he asked Camille.
"Yes my lord.", she said with a devilish smile. "I'm not very fond of him, you see. And he can be a nuisance many times. He's not really the best butler," she said gritting her teeth.
Suddenly the wet bundle in Camille's arms moaned. She looked back up at the master. "I'm afraid that I must take her to her room now master. I do hope you have a good night. In your bedroom."
Vincent stiffened a little at that.
"Don't forget young master, in the bedroom is safe," she repeated as she ascended the stairs.
Okay, the boy thought, a little shaken. She said it twice. I mess up again, I might be dead.
