In love

Calliope was still staring at the city lights and water, when she felt a presence behind her. A question arose in her head and she couldn't control herself from raising it.

"Dyke, have you ever been in love?"

She heard Laxamus dyke taking deep breaths for several seconds straight and then as if he could finally breathe, he answered, "Yes."

It could be because Calliope asked the question so informally like they were old friends that made Laxamus lower his guard and answer the question.

"Then, why are you still single?" Calliope turned her body to face him, her back facing the water and the sparkling city lights.

"I never confessed my feelings," Laxamus replied in a soft tone. A kind of softness that she believed that he wasn't capable of showing. "It was unrequited from the start. She never has such feelings for me. Wouldn't it be meaningless to confess my feelings for someone who had nothing to do with it?"
