Reunion

Ariadne took the plane three days later. Sitting in the huge Boeing that would soon land at Galeo Airport after a long flight of almost eleven hours, she thought again of her uncle, such a good man, who shared no blood ties with them, but such a deep attachment that he was an integral part of the Lane family. Ariadne was only six years old when she met Uncle Seurus, whose real name was Seurus Paolo, and who was in fact the best friend of her mother, Stella Lane, had ever had, inseparable since junior high school, though nothing passionate or ambiguous ever crisscrossed this unbreakable friendship. He was the best man at her parents' wedding, the godfather to their two daughters, and the familiar guest at the little white villa the Lanes had built high in the green hills of Montreal.
