Take some risks

What kind of life my classmates are doing right now? They must be lavishing themselves on a first-rate menu from the best chefs of this world, while also being trained under the best fighters and mages.

While I'm stuck in this horrid place with nothing to eat but creepy skeletons.

I create some clones to consume the defeated ghoul. One clone grabs a bone and starts eating it.

[Clone Skill wasn't successful]

After one bite, the clone turns dark as though it is infected. It spreads throughout its body. It dies and then vanishes into a white mist.

Eh? My clone just got killed instantly.

Activate [Scan]!

My [Universal Tome] or my system guide is now level 5. Instead of just texts, she has now a soothing female voice that tells me more details than before. She can now also give reports regarding the results of the scan.

She is like the Alexa of my system now.

[Answer. Ghouls have a high affinity for darkness and curses. Contracting plague (dark) from consumption is very high even with high tolerance, dark resistance is needed]

Now that I realize it, I don't have resistance against dark debuffs.

"System can you tell me about the plague?"

[Answer. Plague debuffs infect mana easily. Since the clone is purely made of mana, it is very weak against the effects of the plague]

"Do you recommend if I eat the bones myself?"

[Answer. No, since the body is brimming with mana. Death might be likely]

I try creating several clones but before they can even gain some resistance they instantly die.

I won't be able to gain any dark affinity skills in this way.

This is pretty bad if I want to increase my skill collection. I cannot advance further this way. Maybe, I think I have to take some risks if I want to progress. Just when is the last time I took a risk?

Unlike my clones, the plague won't instantly kill me if I consume the ghoul, thus I might be able to gain resistance in this way.

I have to ready this skill, [Clone betrayal]. I unlocked this when I was around level 80. It's quite a powerful one.

[Clone betrayal: Transfer some of the HP damages and 100% of the curse and ill effects upon the clone.

Cooldown: 5 minutes]

This way if things go south I can just use this skill.

Well, here goes. I take the bone and bite it myself. I swallow it. I hold my throat since it feels absurdly painful. Like being pricked by hundred needles.

My eyes are starting to go dark. The immense pain is starting to spread throughout my body. If this goes on, I might bite the dust before everyone else.

Cast skill! [Clone betrayal]

[Warning, your magic circuits are being hampered by the plague. The execution of the skill might take some time]

Blood starts to drip down from my eyes and mouth. This is the most painful experience I have had. My muscles and fibers feel like they are being crushed on a molecular level.

"System, I thought I already maxed my tolerance but why is it so painful?"

[Answer. The plague debuff is around 10 levels high. Originally, plagues on this level are designed to give instant death]

Did I just do something pretty bad?

I can even say at this point, it's better for me to die than experiencing this anguish.

Just when the infection is about to devour me. The skill is executed. A clone is created from my body. The adverse effects of the plague are transferred to the clone immediately. The clone then dies and becomes a mist.

[Dark Affinity Acquired!

New Skill: Dark Slash]

I then catch my breath. I thought that I was gonna die.

At least I'm still alive!

Glad that I have this skill.

[+Least Dark Resistance Acquired

+ Medium Pain Tolerance Acquired]

Looks like my pain tolerance went up from low to mid-tier. Since my clones don't feel pain I can't increase my pain resistance the usual way.

However, for now, I can easily increase my dark resistance since my clones can to some extent tolerate it.

Knowing I have dark resistance, I try creating a hundred clones to consume the ghoul. With my dark resistance, they survive a little bit longer now.

Every minute one dies from a plague infection.

I then add another round of clones. This time around twice the number, until I can raise my resistance.

They then begin eating the remnants of the ghoul. Though every one of them dies when I finally increase my resistance.

[+Medium Dark Resistance Acquired]

Aside from the resistances that I gained I also acquired some handy dark affinity skills.

These are all the resistances I acquired thus far.

[Resistance Status:

•Greater Fire Resistance

•Greater Earth Resistance

•Greater Poison Resistance

•Medium Dark Resistance

•Medium Intimidation Resistance

•Medium Pain Resistance]

I then continue on my path. My [ultimate sight] detects something off.

I notice a swarm of monster aura about 2 kilometers away. I can tell they are dark affinity monsters. I can't determine their numbers but they are too many.

"System, how many enemies are there within my sight?"

[Answer. There are approximately 3000 ghouls]

Eh, 3000? That is a lot!

With this in mind, I need to be smart and efficient.

What shall I do? I cross my arms as I think about it. Let's test how many clones I can create.

Cast skill [Character Division] x 2000. In a flash, I made around 2000 clones. It barely affects me since I have a large amount of mana capacity.

Though it takes 80% of my MP and I have to use [Cool Down Loan] to instantly summon 2000 clones in battle. I just have to wait around 3 hours so I can pay my cool-down debt.

Unlike from the chameleon domain, I will have the clones do the offensive against any ghouls they encounter.

Since my clones don't have high intelligence, they usually only use the first fifth skills available in the system. They also spam it and don't use it strategically.

Thus, using [Clone Editor]. I can remove and add skills from the clones. I can employ some strategy for these clones. I split them into 3 groups.

One group will only have defensive skills like [Ground Skin] [Stone Wall] [Attention Magnet] [Confusion Howl] [Stomp Quake]. I removed the rest of the skills for them. I call them the tank division.

Another group will focus on close-range fights. They will have balanced defense and offense skills like [Combustible Fist] [Flash Kick] [Magnus Claw] [Spring Dash]. This will be the fighter division.

The last group will focus on DPS and attack from distance. They will focus more on elemental spells and they will have the highest offense. [Flame blast] [Jet Spring] [Earth Slam] [Skill Combiner]. Obviously, they will be the mage division.

Unlike before, we will move as one team and stomp every opponent we across.

"Hahaha! Alright, myself let's move!"

With me as a commander, they follow once I take the lead.

In front of us, the swarms of ghouls are coming close. They are unleashing a strong sinister aura upon me and my clones. It seems they are using an intimidation skill.

[Intimidation resisting....]

I can feel some tingle on my spine as we receive it.

[Intimidation resisted!]

It seems it is not strong enough against my mind stats.

[Scan!]

My scan is already at level 5. It can now determine the skills and abilities my enemies used.

[Lesser Ghoul

Level: 70

------------

Skill:

Threaten: Intimidates the target and lowers the Agility and Strength]

We charge further and our armies clash. We exchange blows against each other. Though this is a one-sided battle. The fighter division mows down the ghouls they come across.

The mage division is spamming skills from the distance. They are targetting the middle and rear portion of the ghoul army. The tank division doesn't have many contributions except causing quakes to weaken the formation of the enemies.

Hehe, I guess the roles don't matter much when even my clones have high stats.

But I'm still impressed that they are powerful despite having only 11% of my stats.

[+5000 EXP

+ 3000 EXP

...

...

Level: 130]

Despite destroying 3000 level 70 ghouls, I only climb around 25 levels. I expect more. Though, I think I'm getting greedy since I'm used to jumping a lot of levels.

Is that even a normal thinking process?

My remaining clones begin to eat the ghoul remnants to increase my dark affinity skill collection.

[New Title Acquired!

+Legendary Adventurer

+Undead Vanquisher]

[New Affinity Acquired!

+Spatial Affinity]

[+Greater Dark Resistance Acquired!]

[New Skills Acquired!

+Spatial Inventory]

I rub my chin in amusement. Adventurer, huh? That's a term I'm expecting to see once I get transported into another world.

[Legendary Adventurer: You can now collect items from monster remains]

[Note: Due to the title of adventurer, the user can now choose 1 from the 5 classes

Long Blade:

Short Blades:

Staff:

Shield:

Prayer: ]

Hmm? I wonder what are the benefits of choosing a class?

[Answer. Choosing long blade class will increase the maximum capacity of strength stats to 5000]

[Answer. Choosing short blade class will increase the maximum capacity of agility stats to 5000]

[Answer. Choosing staff class will increase the maximum capacity of wisdom stats to 5000]

[Answer. Choosing shield class will increase the maximum capacity of defense and stamina stats to 4500]

Answer. Choosing prayer class will increase the maximum capacity of tolerance and mind stats to 4500]

"System, can I choose more than 1 class?"

[Answer. The user is only given one class choice every time the adventurer title is acquired]

I rub my chin for a moment while thinking.

I then smile. "Hehe, then let's resort to the good ol strategy."
