Chapter 54

You were quite enamoured with the Idea, so after a few Hours of planning the basics throughout the Night you started your Project off the next Morning with an Order to the Guild, you needed those Books and you were willing to compensate them for all their little Troubles as long as they delivered. Which was then followed up by another Order of yours, this time to your Knights, which you sent out into the busy Streets of Lannisport to buy you some of the abandoned Warehouses around the Docks seeing as they had the perfect Size to serve your Plans.

And with all the time the Night provided you with, you had of course already decided on all the different Roles those Warehouses would need to fulfill to make it all work, but so enthralled were you that you did so before you even knew how many you would actually have access to. In the end you only needed eighteen of them to form the first Trainings Cluster that you required to train your new Type of Soldier, which in a City this large luckily wouldn't disrupt your Plans no matter what, so you ignored the admittedly avoidable hiccup and refocused on the matter at Hand, nobody is perfect after all.

It must have been quite some time since you were last so overcome with pure excitement for one of your Plans, but then what Warlord wouldn't be excited about the prospect of changing the way Wars are fought. And if everything works out and the Supply problem gets solved by the Improvements, then the rest of the Realm would have to follow suit, with all the natural Consequences of doing so. Which would then allow but also require the Armies of the Great Houses to swell in Number like never before to keep up while you could happily exploit the Strengths and Weaknesses that come with such a Change, yes, it was truly quite exciting.

For even if only a small standing Army is retained in Peace the Industry required to expand it once more in times of War would change the Continent forever, more Opportunities for Commoners, a greater flow of Wealth through the maintaining of all the Equipment and of course a massive spread of the Ability to read and write to aid those with more creative Minds. And so the Armies of Westeros would turn into Furnaces of Progress who could prove once and for all that Peace is nothing but a Sickness which deludes People into thinking that Compromises make for the best Solutions while Principles are treated like Dirt.

You felt it especially in the Capital just a few Years ago, and it's still disgusting you to this Day, for while you cared little about Oaths and Honour you very much so cared about Integrity. You would never accept the kind of Scum that mocks a Knight or Lord behind his Back for staying true to his Principles, vain as they may be, while they profit through Corruption as a Human. So you're still very much so looking forward to that future in which that kind of Scum is once and for all dealt with so that Humanity can focus on the real Threat instead of those pointless Games of Power.

Thus, you pushed your Plans further onward till after some four Days of effort the first Library was finished and ready for use which allowed you to swiftly send in the collected Batch of Volunteers to begin the first step towards becoming a Recruit. Though you didn't expect that many would show Interest in sticking around till after they learned to read and write, you didn't mind it, seeing as such People wouldn't be suitable for the Position anyway. But that being said, you still decided to reward those few that would decide to stick around till the Construction of the Trainings Cluster is finished by teaching them yourself, for while there was no Point in punishing someone for leaving, there were many Benefits in rewarding those that stayed.

To that end, the first Batch consisted entirely of Children seeing as most Adults would struggle to directly learn from a not quite yet ten Year old Girl, not to mention that it would give you a Chance to study how many Years those Children would need to become deployable under the right Training. These things needed to be determined early on after all if one considered that any and all Results of Changes done now would only be really felt half a Decade later, meaning each Week that can be optimised does count in the long run if the Project expands to the rest of the Westerlands.

That being said, your Progress with the long term planning was for now quite limited seeing as the basics of reading and writing would take some time to be taught and while a Library is rather simple in its Design and Creation process if one had a Building and enough Books. The same couldn't be said about the rest of the Facilities you had planned to use in the Training, so they would take a bit longer, meaning there was absolutely no Point in speeding things up, not that you could. Hence, you decided to simply wait, read some Books, and then review your Plans to make sure everything was still in Order with the remaining parts to avoid any further hiccups.

Though as far as you could see there were no further slip ups with your Plans concerning the Troop Leader Training, so after asking Marie for any additional Information on the matter you were sure that you would successfully complete the Project, one way or another. And while it was annoying that you couldn't do more for now, you guessed that was the problem if one worked throughout the Night to not waste time, so you left it at that. For as long as you got your cherished Troop and Formation Leaders for the Army at the end, you couldn't really complain too much about sitting around for a bit while you read a few Books to Marie, there were People who had it worse after all.
