Well-deserved Rest

Kaeya was still holding his laughter after he left the room. It was only after Sai closed the door behind him that he let it all out.

"Pfffftt! Hahahah… Man…" He started smacking Sai's back. "I has been a while since I've seen Jean so flustered. Hahahah…" He laughed again once he remembered the scene.

Sai stumbled a little from the impact but also genuinely smiled. He only regretted not being able to see her flushed face on time. After a while, Kaeya recovered and led him to the exit.

"Lisa told me you remember practically everything that happened on the afternoon, so I would like it if you told me too." Seeing Sai's tired expression, he added: "Just a summary, while we walk."

Sai then told him more or less how things went. Since it all ended fast from the moment he was summoned to when the player left, there wasn't much to tell from beginning to end. He practically repeated what he told Lisa.

"You actually saw me losing? To a mere hilichurl?" Kaeya had an unbelieving look on his face.

By now they were already out of the Favonius building. They took a left and kept walking near the wall.

"Well, it was a Lawachurl, not a—"

"Hmpf! No matter what type, a dumb beast such as that would never have defeated me. It seems like the traveler isn't adept in using me to my fullest extent."

"Or Amber, or Lisa." Sai added.

"Or you." He turned to look at Sai. It kind of sounded like a question.

"Eh? Me? I actually got stronger. I had never fought before in my life so…"

Kaeya was surprised, for he sensed no lies in that statement.

"You never fought before? You are saying you are a civilian?"

"Well, kinda, yes."

"I thought you were only adept at hiding it, but you don't have a Vision either, do you?"

"I don't."

"A Visionless civilian guy like you dared to put Lisa in a spot… Few in Mondstadt have the galls for such thing. I could even count it in one hand."

Sai frowned. It seemed like the real Lisa really wasn't how the game portrayed her.

"Are you one of them, Sir Kaeya?" Sai pretended to be curious.

"Of course, haha." Clearly, Sai already knew the answer.

"By the way, what do you think Lisa might do to me?" Sai couldn't postpone the subject anymore.

"Hmm… hard to say. It could go from work at the library…" Kaeya paused to think. Sai visibly relaxed. "To death sentence."

"W—what—" A frown took Sai's face.

"Hahahah relax. I'm just kidding." Kaeya joked. "She wouldn't let you do her library work."

"…"

Not long after, the pair eventually reached a building that most likely wasn't present in the game. It also had two floors, but it looked much thinner than the knights' HQ. It looked like an inn of sorts.

"The knights have convenience with the Wangshu Inn so you can rest comfortably here for a while. It's the best in Mondstadt after all." Kaeya's eyes seemed to shine when he said that.

"Wangshu Inn? Was it not in Liyue?"

"Ah, it's a branch of the main one in Liyue. I can attest to its quality!"

"So you've stayed here before." Sai nodded in understanding. Now that he mentioned it, its architecture looked different from the rest. 'Chinese, huh?'

"About that… no. I can't use it for free like you, I'd have to pay. And it's way too expensive for my liking. No, no, no. I come here for the wine. They have some great Liyue spirits here. Well, they say the Goth Hotel has amazing Snezhnayan drinks but… Anyways. Are you a minor or…?" Kaeya got excited when he thought about alcohol.

"I'm not a minor."

"Great! Let's have a few drinks! You can rest after that. In fact, it's even better to rest after drinking your fill, I promise!"

Sai hesitated before speaking.

"I'm sorry, Sir Kaeya, for I'm really tired at the moment. But I can promise you that tomorrow I'll go with you."

He was, in fact, 18. Recently so. He had had a few drinks before in his life, legally or not, but he didn't know the law in Mondstadt. He only agreed because he didn't want them thinking he was a little child.

"Tsk, tsk. Tomorrow is another day, but if fate wishes for it, we may meet for a few drinks. Now, let's check you in."

He grumbled but proceeded with the check-in. He gave the authorisation of the knights for all expenses, and told someone to deliver three meals a day to his room. After everything was finalised, someone came over to take Sai to his room.

"Alright, Sai, we part here. It was delectable meeting you, haha. I'll see you tomorrow." He turned around to leave and added without looking back:

"Just don't leave the city, okay? Thanks."

"Don't worry, sir. I promise not to cause you trouble."

"Counting on it."

As soon as Sai closed the door, he fell on the bed. It was only an hour later that he slowly stood up to inspect his room.

All in all, it looked German. And medieval-aged. Actually, scratch that. It was more like 19th century Austria, he thought. Not good enough for a modern person, but it provided what was necessary. The only thing he really disliked was that there were no bathrooms in each room.

He asked around and found out he would have to use the common bath room. And that he did. At this time, there were no other guests, but the water was also not heated. He could ask them to heat it, but it would take time he didn't want to spend.

So he just quickly bathed, while checking his body and injuries, and returned to his room. Luckily for him, he didn't find any scars on his body, just some redness and leftover pain.

Someone had left a platter with fruits and bread in front of his room, so he quickly ate it all. He wanted to spend some time pondering on his day, but his tired body soon made it impossible. And so, he slept.

By the time he woke up, the sun was almost high on the sky.
