Max noted the looks of the board members at the table and it dawned to him what he had said.
He pushed the chair and stood to leave the room.
He was almost at the door when one of the board members spoke.
"Perhaps you should consider your wife to take the position. If she is more beautiful than all the ladies we have seen here, then she is fit for the position,"the man suggested.
"Yes sir,it's really a better idea,"another member agree with the other.
A better idea he said?...to Maxwell, it was and he wouldn't allow his Ammy do such.
"You better have kept that in your heart or in your mind but never give such an idea again,"he roared calmly without looking there side and walked out without another glance towards their side.
Michael watched his brother walk away with a broad smile.
He could tell one thing...the great Maxwell Storm was bewitched in love!
How would they even think that he would hire his own wife for such a job!?...he even thought of going back to the conference room and punch the mouth of the man who had given such an idea but he strode to his elevator that took him to the last floor where his office was located. With the HR meeting done, there actually was nothing much to do in his office except for going through some reports from the other departments.
He spent the morning hours going through the reports and the other files on his table and the afternoon hours, he was free and decided to visit his casino in the city.
He left the office with his briefcase and got to his car.The driver drove out of the compound followed by the convoy that was escorting the car.
It seems it was a busy day not only for him but the whole town. The road was all busy and there was traffic but he was Maxwell Storm, the rich lord and not even the traffic officers could prevent him from passing.
The other cars paved way for his convoy to pass, as though a president was passing by.
"That must be Maxwell Storm,"I beautiful lady spoke as she stared at the car passing at the road from the fifth floor of the building she was in.
"Ofcourse it is Alicia,"the other girl standing beside her at window responded.
"I really can't wait to have him as my own.He is so rich and really handsome,"she speaks as biting her lip lustily,to show how she desired or lusted him.
The girl beside her frowned in confusion as she looked at her speak. She didn't understand what she actually meant by that...
"I don't get it Alicia. You mean to say..."she began but before she could finish her statement, Alicia explains herself further.
"I mean that I really love him and I won't stop at anything until he is mine,"she explained and the girl's eyes widened further with shock and disbelief.
How greed consumed people!...
"I remember you saying that he is married to your friend, so why would you that to your own friend?"she asked confused.
Alicia smirked evily as she gawked at her.
"She was my friend until she agreed to his proposal without telling us.I invited her to that party and she dared take the man I desired most...am back to take back my what is rightfully mine,"she declares with an evil smile.
"But Alicia.."
"But what Lydia? Didn't you say that she stopped you from doing your duty?..that you wouldn't be Maxwell's personal designer anymore?"Alicia reminded her.
It seemed that this Lydia girl was the same girl, Ammy had met in their closet one morning...scaring the crap out of her.
"But she made me one of her personal maid. She didn't fire me...she is a wonderful woman Alicia so why would you do that?..."she opposed strongly.
"She is.... ofcourse I know she is wonderful but I cannot forgive her for taking my man from me.And you just told me something...they already had a fight...good timing,"she speaks with a wide smile.
Lydia's mouth widened as a silent gasp escaped her lips. The two were actually close cousins and Lydia had left her own family business, being the only child and the heir to her father's business, just to be employed in Maxwell's mansion for her cousin's sake.
But when Maxwell got married and to such a beautiful and kind lady, she abandoned her mission Alicia had sent her to accomplish in that house.
And when she learnt that Ammy and Alicia were friends she felt obliged to tell her that her friend's marriage was taking a wrong turn but here she was...wanting to take advantage of the wrong turn.
"I am not going to take part in any of your selfish missions Alicia, count me out.As a matter if fact, I will expose you and resign...I also have business to take care of,"she declared and turned to leave the room.
"You are exposing nobody Lydia... remember why you were in that house.Expose me and I do the same...I go down and you follow so we work together and get Ammy out of the picture in anyway possible,"Alicia threatened calmly.
Lydia froze at her spot. She couldn't believe she had such an evil girl for a close cousin.
Alicia opened her purse and took a cigar and lit it.She inhaled puffs of the smoke then exhaled leisurely.
"You know that I also have business to take care of but I joined online marketing with flithy and lowlife friends such as Maxwell's wife and now modeling...all for what, to make myself popular so that he could recognize me and am not stopping now and I dare you to do something silly Lydia..."she threatened then inhaled another puff of smoke.
Lydia stormed out of the room and went away.
Despite her cousin's threat,in no way would she hurt such a good lady.
But why would good people always associate themselves with bad people....like Alicia, the Storms...that she couldn't understand.
Her threat did open her eyes, someone needed to help Ammy and keep her safe from Alicia and she was the one to...so ofcourse she was going back to Maxwell's mansion.
At the casino,
Max walked in and everyone paved way for him.The men gawked at him and the ladies ogled at his perfect musculine body and beauty.
He walked to his managers office.
"How are you?"he asked the manager who was standing at the door of his office waiting to welcome him.
"Very well sir thank you for asking and welcome,"the manager responded with a smile though he was quite surprised that he actually greeted him.
Maxwell nodded briefly and walked inside the office. He had managers in his own business places as he attended to those he had inherited from his father personally.
"How has work been here?"he asked as he sat on the chair and the manager remained standing.
"Very well sir...would you like to see how the place is fairing?"he asked.
"Not really...I trust the men I keep incharge of my businesses,"he responded and the manager nods in appreciation.
The place was really captivating from what he already saw and he was just okay with it.
"Hand me the reports and I will be out.I just noted that almost all the workers stopped working when I got in...I guess I should finish and leave,"he joked with a smile on.
The manager returns the smile and walks towards the desk.He opened a drawer and took out the files.Max went through the files carefully and when satisfied with the results, he left the office accompanied by his manager and the guards.
At the door, he met the man he had been thinking of calling earlier...
"Edward..."he began informally.
"Maxwell,"he responded smiling warmly and they shook hands.
"You are still in the City,"Max continued with a smile.
"Ofcourse I am Max...the week isn't over yet,"he responded.
"I was wondering if we could grab dinner before you leave,"Max offered in a much more polite way.
"Ofcourse Maxwell, I think Saturday is just cool.I will be flying on Sunday,"Edward responded gladly and Max nodded in agreement.
"I see a ring on your finger, you are married?"Max asked with interest.
Ofcourse he knew he was married and his wife too but he wanted to arrive to his point through the long route.
"Ofcourse I am Maxwell, I thought everyone knew that."
"You are right but not everyone does but you never brought your wife to my wedding,"he pointed out, not because he was interested but...
"I didn't, we have a baby girl and one of us had to stay home,"he responded.
The man was so friendly and social and so he didn't notice how wierd those questions sounded.
"I get it Edward and I also think you will come for the dinner alone then,"he pointed out.
He was getting to where he was aiming.
"She is in town actually but she is also quite fixed but I will asked her to come with me,"Edward assured him.
Max grinned at him and bid him a farewell.
"I will also ask your wife and my wife to accompany me for the dinner,"he murmured to himself as he walked away, a broad smile settling on his lips.
