Chapter 137

"Here is what we are fighting against."

I show him the undead we capture for the alchemist to experiment on.

"GRAAAH!"

I quickly pull one of the rangers away and say.

"Don't get too close. They might look like humans, but they are not. Their claws are as sharp as a tiger's, and their bite has the same strength as a bear's."

"Gods"

I look at Jeor Mormont, an old man in his late fifties, maybe? Or around late fifty, and says.

"That is why I built this fortress. Every living being that dies in this place will be resurrected into that thing. I'm willing to accept your help, but I must inform you that your body will be burned to ashes if you die in this place. You will not have a tomb for your family to remember or any bone left for them to bury."

The Lord Commander looks at it for a few seconds and then looks at his men. He looks to the ground for a few seconds and says.

"Can I talk with my men first?"

"Go ahead. You can use the barrack for some privacy."

"Thank you."

When they walk away from the lab, I look at the Grandmaster of the Alchemist Guild and say.

"How is it? Do you find something new?"

"Yes. We do. Please follow me."

I follow him deeper into the lab and see two people holding a bow and arrow.

"Bow and arrow?"

"We manage to make an even more stable Wildfire. Arol? Shoot the arrow."

The Acolytes nod and fire the arrow in his hand. When the arrow hit the straw dummy, it set ablaze. The green fire engulfs the entire straw dummy and turns it into ashes. However, the green fire did not last long, unlike the original Wildfire. After the straw dummy turns into ashes, it disappears.

"That is fascinating."

"Right?! After studying the mana around us, I managed to notice something."

"What is it?"

"It contains the concept of stagnation. Your mana revolves around the concept of Gravity and Space. That is why you manage to make what you call a pocket dimension. Princess Daenerys' mana has the concept of Beast and Space. She has a unique mana that I, once again, ask you to let me experiment on her."

"And, like always, I will not let you experiment on her."

"Tch. Anyway, Princess Rhaenys has a combination of five elements in her manga. What I want to say is that each mana has a concept inside of them. This one is Stagnation, and it is great mana to stabilize the wildfire even more. However, I know that it is dangerous to play with that mana. We need to kill one of ours when we test it."

"What?! What happened?!"

"They start to turn into undead. We need to kill him and burn his body."

He points at the urn in the corner of the room. I see. That is concerning.

"You don't need to worry, your highness."

"Huh?"

"The barrier you put around us will block the mana from contaminating us. Even when there is no barrier, it will take us a couple of weeks to be turned undead, at least what I theorize. I don't want to test it, and the other Acolytes agree with me."

And I agree with that decision. As much as I want to shit on him, the Grandmaster knows when something is too dangerous to experiment with. That is the reason why he is still alive to this day, even though he plays with fire every day.

"Good. How much can you make before the fight?"

"Hmmm, we have one more day before the fight, right?"

"If what Melisandre said is true, yes."

"Then we can produce enough Wildfire to coat at least a thousand up to two thousand arrows."

"That is great. How does it work? Just dip it?"

"Yes. Dip the arrowhead inside the liquid and let it solidify around the arrowhead. We will need help with the dipping process. Tomorrow the blacksmith will deliver a normal arrow, right?"

"Yes."

Bakir and Vyran ask me to order a few thousand normal arrows from the blacksmith alongside the dragonglass arrows. While these arrows cannot kill the undead, they sure can destroy the kneecap of the undead.

However, with this, they can be useful.

"Then we should be able to finish the next batch tomorrow afternoon before lunch. We will start coating the arrow with them after eating our lunch."

"I will ask Vyran to lend some of his men for this task."

"Thank you, your highness."

I nod and look at the roaring undead near the door.

"About that undead, you are done with it, right?"

"Yes. We are done harvesting its stagnation."

"Good."

I take a knight made of dragonglass and throw it at the undead's head. When it hits, the undead stop roaring and crumble like ice.

I pick up my knife and leave the lab on the way out. As I leave the underground facilities, I can see people still busy with the project I give them, even at night. Most people guard the wall, and some ensure the smoker is still working.

The Free Folks like to hunt, and we decide to make jerky from the leftover meat from their hunt. It looks like there are still animals in this forest for us to hunt.

I shake my head and walk to the barrack. As I get closer, I can see Jeor and his men walk out of the barrack. I walk to the old Lord Commander and say.

"What is your decision?"

He looks at me for a second and says.

"Most of us will stay, but the rest will return to the wall. In return for our service, I want to ask you to give them some of your food."

I nod and say.

"Very well. Ask the Ration Master for the food. He will give you the food you want."

Jeor nods and says.

"Thank you. You will not regret this."

"Don't worry about it. Rest and train your body because when the second sunrise will be our time to fight. Make sure you and your men are in top condition."

After saying that, I left them and went back home. I need a cuddle and maybe hot chocolate.

~Two days later~

I open my eyes when I hear the sound of a war horn. I quickly get out of bed and put on my armor. I look at Dany and Rhae, who wakes up from the sound and say.

"Go and put on your armor if you want to come. I will wait for you near Alduin and the others."

After putting on my armor, I take the sword I got from the ruin of Valyria and quickly leave my temporary house. I quickly run to the wall and stand next to Vyran.

"Your highness! They have come!"

I take the spying glass from his hand and look north. I can see a lot of humanoid undead riding undead animals. They are marching toward us.

"Dear gods… You are not lying…"

I look to my left and see Jeor Mormont looking into the distance with wide eyes.

"I'm not. Call your men. We need all of them now."
