Legendary Class?

"I got a legendary class."

Rey was absolutely devastated by Ed's claim. He couldn't believe that Ed got a legendary class before him.

He worried about what will happen to all the taunts that he had prepared in case he got it first? His perfect plan was now ruined, everything was over as he felt defeated. He just wanted to spend the rest of his day holed up in a corner and lament at his loss.

"Legendary...?" Rey could only mutter in shock.

"Yep, check it for yourself." Ed shared his status window with Rey after figuring out how to do it as this was the first time he was doing something like this.

When Ed's status window was displayed in front of Rey, he ignored the rest of it and only focused on the part where his class was mentioned,

'Emissary of Lightning (Rare)'

"???!??!!" Rey was dumbfounded after reading the class rating and he turned to look at the class holder.

*sparkle* *sparkle*

Ed's eyes were sparkling with anticipation like that of a child showing his parents his achievement. He expected Rey to be blown off by his class and start praising him.

Even though Ed seemed like the calm and collected one to strangers, whenever he was with Rey something inside him changed and he became more.... childish.

*smack* *smack*

But instead of praise and congratulations, Rey smacked him twice on the head, shattering his expectations.

"Ouch! What for? I know that you are jealous and disheartened but aren't you going a bit too far?" Ed wailed in pain as Rey didn't hold back the slightest in hitting him.

"How the hell is that a legendary class? You scared me there for once. LeGenDAry ClasS!"

Rey felt relieved when he saw that the rating of the class was just Rare which was lower than his. At the same time, he also felt anger towards Ed for posting such a trick on him.

"At least read it carefully before hitting me. It is a growth type class so of course it is going to start with a lower class rating. Idiot!"

"Growth type? You are kidding right? How is that possible? Growth type classes are rarer than inheritances to begin with and you are telling me that you have a growth type inheritance?"

"Yep!" Ed just replied with a wide grin.

Rey was still not believing and decided to check it for himself. He clicked on the class name and shortly another screen popped up.

The inheritance of the legendary 'Lightning Sovereign', one of the strongest and first users among all of humanity.

The 'Lightning Sovereign' rose from the lowest of ranks to the point of having absolute control over Lightning, surpassing the limits of what a human can do and became a legend himself.

Known for his exceptional control and speed, he was considered one of the '10 Elemental Kings'.

Before his supposed death, he left his inheritance for the coming generations but none has ever been able to reach his level.

• This is a growth type class (Legendary)

Rey was feeling lost after reading the description which was more than he could take in.

"Now before you start praising and begging me to take you as a disciple, let me tell you something else."

"What now?" Rey didn't even refute Ed's words as he was bummed out.

"I also got one B and one C rank skill. Hehehe, pretty nice right?"

Rey was not that surprised by the skills as he himself got three A rank skills but he was sad nonetheless.

"Ye.. ss!" Rey lost his desire to stay because of Ed boasting and got up to leave.

"I'll be going now, since I have completed my task."

"Ok! Don't forget that I am always open to take in students." on the other hand, Ed was having an inner celebration.

When Rey was showing off his Epic class, he felt the same way as Rey was feeling now, dejected and devoid of any desire to continue.

But thanks to the unknown entity, he got a growth type class with Legendary potential and was able to rub it in Rey's face as revenge.

But that was not all since he also got a skill for both combat and movement. The only downside was that they were not high ranked like Rey's A rank skills.

"Haha! It feels nice to be the one boasting as a change of pace. Leaving that aside, I should probably try to go to the Quartz-Dust Peak as soon as possible to know more about this class and if I want to tease him even more."

After Rey left, Ed called his father to discuss about his trip to Quartz-Dust Peak.

[Cheer up Rey, don't feel bad over some growth class which can supposedly reach the Legendary rating. For the time being, your class still has a higher rating than his, even if it's just temporary.]

"Is that supposed to help me?"

[That's what I intend to do.]

Rey has been feeling glum since he met Ed in the morning and now nearing the end of the day, his glumness was also affecting his parents.

"I think I should become Ed's disciple. In this way, atleast I'll be spared from the humiliation later on."

[Aren't you going a bit too far over something trivial?]

"You are right, my existence is so trivial that I can't even become a proper disciple. I should just go and hide myself."

[WHAT, NO?!?! I meant the matter regarding the class not you.]

"Really?"

[Of course, don't let these minor setbacks discourage you. You'll have greater prospects for success in your life later on. Just believe in yourself and more so in your efforts because hard work always pays off.

Only those who try, succeed and those who give up are forgotten. No matter how long it takes, if you are true towards your goal and give it your all, you are bound to achieve it.]

"... You are clearly trying to make fun of me. I am going to sleep."

[Come on, I tried so hard ...

And got so far...

But in the end...

It doesn't even matter...]

"Seriously??!" Rey was feeling cringed at his system's impromptu singing.

[Haha! That was really funny, right?]

"No it wasn't and don't do anything like this again, no one likes it."

[Yes it was funny. And besides, I tried so hard to cheer you up with all the cliche motivating thoughts that people always seem to say, but it wasn't very helpful it seems.]

"I think I should just let the whole thing die down slowly. I'll hopefully recover in a couple of months."

[Are you crazy? Don't you have to like train for the upcoming entrance exam of the Royal Banyan Academy? If you are just going to waste your time recovering, when will you train then?

Didn't Ed tell you that he'll be soon going to the Quartz-Dust Peak. You should also think about going somewhere to train.]

Rey sighed as he realised that he was being childish and that his goal should be the entrance exam.

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for any 16 year old which could possibly change their future.

The Royal Banyan Academy was the largest and the most prestigious educational institute in all of Sandalwood Empire and was even ranked as one of the top institutes in all of the continent of Woodrok.

Because of its prestige not only children from noble families but even the most talented individuals from all over the continent attended this academy.

The Operator's Institute that Rey used to attend was also affiliated with the Academy and aimed at training young and talented individuals for the Royal Academy.

Though the academy held a common entrance exam for anyone eligible to take it, those in the top 15 of the Operator's Institute were almost guaranteed admission in the Academy. They only needed to take the entrance exam so that the rankings for the newly enrolled students could be released.

And for this reason, some people considered the admission into Operator's Institute as more difficult than that of the Academy.

But even after all this, is the person failed to meet the minimum requirement of Lv. 50, they would be denied admission no matter from where they came.

"You're right, I should focus on my training and getting more adept at using my skills."

Rey was reaching for the door of his room to go down and eat something, when he paused.

[What happened? Why did you stop suddenly?]

"Speaking of skills, I just remembered that I also got a memory fragment back in Birchwood, didn't I?"

[D-did you? I d-don't remember anything like that.]

"I am pretty sure I got that. Inventory."

Rey called his inventory without wasting any time and a grid like screen appeared, containing all the items that he put in it.

And as he expected the memory fragment was there in the inventory with a lock icon on one of its corner. Indicating that the item cannot be looted nor dropped.

"Care to explain why Sophie? You obviously knew about this, so why didn't you tell me earlier?"

[Well... you know.... just the normal stuff.]

"Stop beating around the bush and just answer me." there was a slight hint of anger in his voice.

[I may have liked watching you panic a little bit. Only a little bit though.]

Rey sighed and went back to his bed, "Why is my luck so bad. Wasn't you being a tsundere not bad enough, now that you also have to become a sadist?"

[I am not a sadist. I may just like seeing you in pain a little bit. But that doesn't make me a sadist. Hmph!]

"*sigh* I don't want to think about it anymore. Let's focus on this memory fragment."
