A familiar face

Earths gate

The outskirts of the town:

The mist seemed to be covering the whole and the farm had become rough and untidy due to the time of the year they were at the moment, the fog around felt like they weren't going to be leaving anytime soon, and that alone was a burden, not to speak of the smell from the pig and horses dung. The young lad had already stacked up enough hay since he had to do so before his granddad came back from his hunting expeditions, two little girls were also helping him with the farming activities which proved his work to be quiet an easy one. The lad was tattered and had several parts of his face filled with some brownish substance and his clothes were tattered and dirty. Meanwhile his two little twin sisters were clean which just showed the little contributions that they made. His royal blue hair was medium and just hung down wet and also having several particles on them.

"Alright Elijah, that's enough for today, bring the twins inside for breakfast." A loud and soothing voice came from the little house which was situated by the edge of the hill. Elijah heaved a huge sigh before ushering his sister back into the house while he arranged all the scattered farming tools.

He turned to walk into the house when a loud thud caught his attention; he turned back and as soon as the dust cleared he could see who it was. Two royal guards from the castle, he had probably caught the higher authorities' attention. His mother who had become alerted by this sudden event hid her two daughters in the room while she crept outside to see who it was. And realizing that it was only the royal guards she heaved a sigh of relief before joining his son to join their conversation.

"Elijah Cloak, the king has ordered for your presence at the castle in respect to the champion of power soon to come in four weeks time." The first guard said in a loud and commanding tone. Elijah didn't feel moved at all he chuckled before bluntly replying:

"No"

The guards were taken aback by this answer and so was his mother who saw this as an opportunity for her son to get along with the outside world and also show what he was really capable of. Ever since he was little, he always stood out wherever he went to due to his great difference in magical prowess; even at a young age of 11 he had the power strong enough to handle several upper ranked mages in the kingdom. But the thing he detested the most stopped him from joining an academy or a royal faction which was simply 'People' he hated crowded spaces and talking to people who aren't related to stranger to make matters worse, he couldn't trust a single soul except his family making the situation more difficult.

"Why do you look so shocked? I said no it shouldn't be that much of a problem." Elijah said with an emotionless face which barely showed any care at all.

"Perhaps we should rephrase that; the king ordered us to bring you to the castle by any means possible."At this moment, the two guards already had their hands firmly gripping their sword, ready to unsheathe and attack.

Lightning had already began to surround the lad and his eyes glowed like the color of his lightning, he clenched his fist ready to attack not until the calm soft hands of his mom were placed on his chest.

"No Elijah, that's not how things should be handled. I give you my blessings, you can go with them." His mum Ella said placing her palm on his cheek while looking up at him giving that he was much taller than she was.

"Mum, but what about dad…"

"Your dad would be home soon, you'll get time to talk this through, this was what we always wanted my baby boy." The guards smiled in amusement as it could be clearly seen that Elijah was a bit embarrassed.

"Mum I'll be eighteen soon. I'm no baby." Elijah politely whispered before turning to the guards. "I'll be coming to the castle in the next two days. Is that okay with you?"

"Um…yes see you then." The guards both vanished leaving residues of orange energy behind.

"This place does quiet leave the impression on someone." Vincent said while marveling at the tall buildings around them, everywhere just seemed glorious and a bit plenty for them to grasp all at once. The buildings were made out of special materials, they were beautiful and towering, books flew around flapping their pages like birds, not many people could be seen but those who they could see where getting on to research about a particular knowledge that the wanted to acquire. The street had small capsules which transported people from one place to the other. The place was like a library but where one could read about some of the secrets of the universe. That being said, the place isn't open for anyone to just waltz in and acquire any knowledge they want to know, only the monarchs and Harmons were allowed at the highest section called land of trees where all the knowledge one needs to know about the universe is rested in. But as the true laws of the universe go, none can fully grab all the knowledge about the universe but would only invoke madness to his mind and soul.

The ship landed by the dock the two lads wasted no time in hoping out of the ship, still perplexed and looking around like they were just sent to a different world which they apparently were at the moment. Old man smiled before leading the way as the two followed behind.

'One thing that is certain about this place is the urge to know more.' Vincent said to himself as he couldn't get to study the countless amounts of arcane spells and rituals. Gary wasn't left out either he also felt that urge to acquire more knowledge; he had now accepted the fact in his mind that knowledge was truly powerful. Old man was having a conversation with a headless humanoid being dressed in formal attire; a suit with no signs of a leg either.

"Ok boys." Old man signaled for them, showing a portal which had been opened by the attendant.

The room in which they entered reeked of royalty, women giggles could be heard and the smell of alcohol was everywhere. Old man smiled shaking his head.

"Tyron" A familiar voice yelled out and coming out of the red curtains was also a person with a familiar face but Gary didn't recognize while he recognized Gary really well.

"Miash, you never desist from your old ways. Fornicating is one but in a place so sacred like this?" Old man said shaking his head. Miash was wearing a robe which revealed his bulky and aesthetic shirt his facial expression had changed a bit when he saw Gary but he managed to stay composed.

"What can I say big bro, I'm a fan of enjoyment." Miash said with a smile on his face. "Come with me, I see you brought company with you."

"Yeah we are just trying to get through to Olden guard. These lads need the magical mentorship that they can get."

"But then why did they bring you to my place…" Old man raised both eyebrows to which Miash understood.

"Oh…Ok got it." Miash tapped on his bracelet which transformed the room back into its original state which was a library filled with books, the shelves as high as some mighty buildings, at the end of the room were large capsules with the huge pipes connected to the circular shelves.

"I also came here for knowledge about something, but had to have some fun you know." This time Miash was wearing decent attire which made him look like a normal ambassador of knowledge.

Gary and Vincent only kept on looking around, the books in the place could also fly and except from them, no one else was around.

"Now boys, it's time for you to acquire the knowledge you seek."
