Chapter 19: Ivan's Concern (Edited)

The fire burned quietly as Ivan wrote, and when the others returned, he had finished the article, leaving only a few details to be edited.

When Hermione and Colin entered the common room, she ran up to Ivan with a happy face and said, "Ivan, that was amazing, we took a myriad of pictures, and got a manuscript from Professor Lockhart."

As Ivan finished writing, he said, "Well done."

After Hermione saw that Ivan was writing on a piece of parchment, she quickly walked over and started reading it, "Let me have a look."

But after Hermione read the contents of the parchment, she said quietly, "Oh my God, this is..."

Before she could finish what she was going to say, Harry and Ron walked into the common room, they seemed to be in a horrible mood compared to Hermione and Colin.

Ron said in a monotone voice, "Guys, tonight sucks. When we left we saw Peeves the Poltergeist run up on the second floor who threw a stink bomb and then we got caught by Filch who appeared out of nowhere, he thought Harry and I had done it and almost took us to his office."

Ivan focused on the part where Ron said they were on the second floor, since that floor only had Myrtle the Weeper, and the Chamber Of Secrets, so he quickly asked, "Wait, what were you doing there, If I remember correctly, there shouldn't be anyone there?"

Ivan had tried to talk to Myrtle the Weeper earlier, but before he could, he was caught by Filch's cat, Mrs. Norris, and had to waste a lot of time trying to explain why he was trying to sneak into the girls' bathroom.

Ron waved his hands dismissively and said, "We thought we saw Ginny go by, but that has nothing to do with it. The point is that we managed to escape Filch and find Nick Nearly Decapitated on the fifth floor, he agreed to convince other ghosts to help us gather news on one condition, and it's...."

Harry said in a weak voice, "To attend his 500th Doomsday Halloween party And we've agreed to it!"

Ron took a deep breath while clenching his fist said, "Think about it, on Halloween in the basement at Nick's almost decapitated Dead party."

Ivan, Colin and Hermione, who were sitting by the fire, seemed indifferent to the matter.

Ivan was thinking about Ginny, while Hermione was totally absorbed in Ivan's story and wasn't listening to a single word Ron was saying.

Ron looked at them all and said, "What the hell is wrong with you two? aren't you surprised? It's a ghost party.... "

But he was interrupted by Harry, who pulled him aside when he noticed that Hermione had an unusual expression, her hands were clenched and her eyes were bloodshot.

Ron stopped because he wasn't sure if he had angered Hermione.

Harry walked over to Hermione and asked in a whisper, "Hermione, are you okay?"

Hermione raised her head, wiped the corner of her eyes with her hand and said, "I'm fine, Harry!"

The next second, she suddenly stood up and gave Harry a hug.

Harry, confused asked, "Hermione, what...."

Hermione pushed the parchment Ivan wrote into Harry's hands and said, "Harry, this is the article Ivan wrote, I think you should read it."

Harry turned his puzzled gaze to the parchment, and a moment later he turned pale as he realized what had been written.

Harry looked at Ivan and said, "Ivan, this...."

Ivan explained, "I know what happened because of Bathilda Bagshot, she was your parents' neighbor in Godric's Hollow, she saw what happened that day."

The tension in the air increased, causing everyone to remain silent.

Ron, not understanding what was going on, muttered, "Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?"

So Hermione quickly whispered the details to him.

After listening to Hermione's explanation and looking at Harry, who was turning pale, Ron said with a worried face, "Harry, all this stuff Ivan wrote about your mother, didn't you know about it before?"

Harry said in a shaky voice, "I never knew, no one has ever taken the time to tell me exactly what's going on before."

Harry tried his best to keep the tears from falling, but even as he tried, small drops began to fall on the parchment. The words at the top of the parchment seemed to become actual scenes appearing before him, and Harry could see the night Voldemort had killed his parents, and the green light and the woman's screams that had replayed in his dreams as a child.

Ivan, realizing how much Harry was hurt by what was written on the parchment, could only whisper, "I'm sorry, Harry!"

For the past ten years or so, Harry had known almost nothing about his parents, and now to suddenly present the details of how they died must have been a very cruel thing for him.

Harry forcefully wiped the tears from his cheeks and said, "It's not your fault, Ivan, it's just that I used to..."

The abnormality in the corner soon caught the attention of the others and, not wanting to be seen crying, Harry turned and ran quickly towards the dormitory, the parchment clutched tightly in his hand.

Ron, seeing Harry run, said to the others, "Don't worry, leave it to me."

All that was left on the couch by the fireplace was a dejected Ivan, a red-eyed Hermione and Colin, who hadn't heard what was going on.

Ivan said dejectedly, "It's all my fault, I wrote about his mother without asking Harry's permission first."

Hermione went over to Ivan and hugged him as she said, "Actually, I think you wrote it well. Harry just needs time to digest this matter."

When Ivan heard Hermione comforting him, his mood improved a little. He gave Bathilda Bagshot's reply to Hermione and soon the topic changed to the content of the paper and the composition of the newspaper articles.

Time passed, Colin sat for a while before leaving, and Hermione stayed until midnight before returning to bed with a large scroll in her arms.

As the fire was about to die out, only Ivan stayed in the common room, but then he saw Ginny sneak in.

She looked terrible, she looked as if she had been wrestling with a troll. Her robes were full of dust, her face was slightly pale, and she was covered in traces of blood.

Ivan's heart sank as he wondered if the chamber of secrets had been opened.

Ivan looked at her and said, "Ginny, you...."

Fred's voice was heard behind her, saying, "Don't worry, Ivan!"

Fred soon came in and said, "Ginny helped us confirm a secret passage, but we had a little problem."

George also came in after Fred and said, "Peeves went through a box full of Stink Bombs, but luckily we ran fast!"

Ginny nodded approvingly and said, "I hope Filch can handle it!"

Ivan was relieved to hear her explanation, he had thought Ginny had been controlled by Tom Riddle and had gone to the Chamber of Secrets, but now it seemed that wasn't the case at all.

After they had eaten chocolate, they went to bed while Ginny climbed the stairs and asked her, "Ginny, do you know who Tom Riddle is?"

Ginny, seeming not to hear, asked Ivan, "What did you say?"

Ivan walked to his room and said, "No, it's nothing, good night."

Ginny also said, "Good night, Ivan!"

Ginny's eyes were unusually bright in the candlelight.
