Chapter 270: The Patronus Charm and the Wrong Path

A relaxed atmosphere, months of practice, and Sirius' detailed explanation of the principles of the Patronus charm at the previous Dueling Club had allowed nearly half of the young wizards at Hogwarts to conjure their own Patronus.

Even in second year, Ginny and Luna were able to cast it, let alone the seniors.

In addition to Ivan's, Ginny's Patronus was a silvery white horse, while Luna's was a very beautiful, very clever looking hare.

The more the Patronuses were, the stronger the positive emotion was, and the easier it was to use the spell.

A few seconds later, even many of the first-year wizards successfully used the Patronus Charm.

Because of their low levels of magic, they were unable to maintain a corporeal Patronus.

But the third-year students were still very happy, knowing that the Patronus Charm was an extremely profound magic, and it was a great achievement to use it successfully before passing the T.I.M.O (Indispensable Degree in Ordinary Magic) exam.

After Ivan, Ron also successfully conjured his Patronus.

It was a Jack Russell Terrier. Ron's smile didn't last long; his corporeal Patronus persisted for only a few seconds, turning back into a cloud of light.

Ron forced to wave his wand and tried several times to cast the spell again.

He seemed anxious, perhaps because everyone around him had succeeded, and due to the pressure, he was never able to do it again.

Ron dropped his wand discouraged. He had been practicing the spell for a long time since the last incident, but had yet to master it.

In his opinion, this was mainly due to his low levels of magic.

He knew that his magical talent was mediocre. He didn't have the talent of his brothers, and his talent and drawing ability were far inferior to Harry's and Ivan's.

Looking at Ginny's successfully conjured Patronus, Ron took a deep breath.

He thought for a long time last night and finally decided that all his difficulties would no longer be a problem if he got the legendary magical item that had been passed down from Gryffindor and kept in the Centaur colony to enhance his magic.

He would replace Ivan and gain an unimaginable reputation.

He would re-emerge as Harry's most important friend and become the most notable young wizard at Hogwarts.

The more Ron thought about it, the more he felt it was possible, and he was very excited about this bright future.

In doing so, he felt nothing wrong, although both Harry and Hermione thought that if they could get that thing, they should give it to Ivan.

But in Ron's opinion, Ivan was already strong enough. He even studied dark magic when no one else knew about it. He didn't need the help of this magical object. Ivan should be grateful to him for not revealing his research on black magic.

In any case, Ron thought he was the one who really needed the help of that magic item.

He was also a Gryffindor and was naturally qualified to get it.

What's more, Ivan repeatedly emphasized that in order to get that item, they needed to pass the final test. The item would belong to whoever could pass it. It was all fair game.

Compared to Harry and Hermione, Ron thought he just valued the item more.

Despite much discontent, because Ivan saved him, Ron still considered Ivan his friend, and he didn't want to do anything to regret his friends.

He was more serious than anyone else in that night's adventure, more eager for power, for the magical object that would help him achieve powerful magic.

He didn't see that he was doing anything wrong; he just wanted to be stronger.

Ron made a decision and stopped trying to conjure the Patronus.

In fact, if Sirius or Professor Flitwick were here, they would have definitely pointed out why Ron couldn't successfully conjure the corporeal Patronus.

It wasn't because of his lack of magic, his magic was weak, but he was stronger than Ginny, Luna and most of the other young first and second year wizards.

Ron couldn't succeed, mainly because his understanding of Charms wasn't deep enough, and the happy memories in his mind weren't strong enough.

As advanced white magic, the magical demands of the Patronus Charm were secondary to the demands of the caster's inner positive emotions and determination.

When it comes to mastering such an enchantment, worrying too much about power is definitely the wrong way to go.

By the end of the game, the Quidditch pitch was a sea of pure joy and light, with all sorts of strange Patronus popping up.

They ran towards the paralyzed Dementors, passing through their bodies over and over again.

The Patronus could do no real harm to the human body, but it frightened Malfoy and his friends, who lay there pitifully, as if they had just experienced a typhoon, looking disheveled and haggardly forward.

Unaffected by them, Harry successfully caught the Golden Snitch before Cho Chang.

With the sound of Mrs. Hooch's whistle, the match ended.

The Gryffindor students made deafening cheers as they celebrated Harry's realization and the Gryffindor victory in catching the Snitch.

"We won!" Hermione smiled brightly and looked very beautiful.

Her Patronus returned to her side and circled her happily for several times before disappearing into thin air.

Hermione was very excited by the atmosphere around her, and hugged Ivan tightly.

Although he didn't ask for it, Ivan wasn't about to refuse the hug.

He hugged her back and she realized what she had done. She wanted to stop in a hurry. But Ivan wasn't about to let go, and in turn he hugged Hermione tighter, until she had to push him hard enough to let go.

Hermione's face was very red and she looked fiercely into Ivan's eyes.

Seeing Ivan's serious eyes, she hurriedly pulled away, not daring to look at him.

"I don't understand, what happened to the three Dementors?" Hermione hastily changed the subject. "The Patronus didn't work, they're not destroyed. Besides, why didn't I get any unpleasant feelings from them?"

"They're not Dementors, they're Malfoy and his mates in disguise!" Ivan explained.

They followed the other young wizards to the center of the field, carefully gathering around the Dementors. In front of everyone, Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle and Marcus Flint, the captain of the Slytherin team, were lying on the ground in a pile of weeds.

Sensing people approaching, they wanted to run away.

They all struggled to free themselves from the long black hooded robes. It looked as if Malfoy had been standing on Goyle's shoulders.

Seeing this scene, all the students knew what this charade was about.

The Gryffindor students laughed at Malfoy's group, then stopped looking at them and turned to the Gryffindor team that had just landed from the sky, cheering for Harry Potter, the biggest hero of today's game.
