Chapter 414: Evil in the Forest

Ivan looked at the huge statue of the evil spirit, and its almost fading memory gave him all kinds of emotions. He was amazed, and almost lost his senses.

The statue was calling him, summoning him to its side.

Eight hundred years ago, the fallen centaurs took a part of the Philosopher's Stone.

The magic left in the broken Philosopher's Stone was not enough to return this evil spirit to the world. It needed this piece of Ivan.

Maybe that's why Ivan entered this dream.

The evil spirit that gradually regained its power sensed the half of the Philosopher's Stone that Ivan carried nearby. It required Ivan to submit to it and hand over the Stone to it.

The closer Ivan was to the remains of the centaurs, the more obvious this feeling became.

His statue looked as impressive and extraordinary, as the mighty god it represented.

Upon seeing it, the first impulse people would have would be to bow before its majesty.

Unfortunately for him, he did not know that Ivan had seen his true colors in the illusion created by Gryffindor and knew what the so-called god looked like.

Not only would Ivan not give him the Philosopher's Stone, but he was willing to take back the other half that the fallen centaurs took 800 years ago.

Through these few contacts, it was not difficult to find that the most powerful ability of the evil spirits lay in the control of dreams.

They could make illusions and enter someone's dreams.

Just as Dementors feed on happy emotions, evil spirits can find every loophole in the mind that can be utilized, awaken the darkness deep within a person's heart, and absorb negative emotions such as fear, madness, anxiety, etc., and devour their soul.

They need flesh and blood to build their bodies, while negative emotions make them strong.

In Aragon's Lair, the acromantulas took the captured animals to the subway ruins and used their flesh and soul to help the eyeball monster regain strength.

But this was far from enough. The souls of those animals were too weak.

When Malfoy released a large amount of negative energy due to his fear of the dark and the unknown, and finally chose to submit to it, the eyeball monster actually regained its power.

Ivan did not believe in the divinity of evil spirits, nor was he confused by the illusion before him.

He looked again at the statue of the evil spirit and began to get bored.

Limited in its strength, this thing now only had the ability to spin over and over in such a way that it confused, created chaos and continuous illusions....

There was nothing to fear before its essence reached the real world.

Like Voldemort, who was hiding in the forest not far away, no matter how powerful he was, he could only survive in a dark corner.

After discussing the matter with Dumbledore, Ivan was now ready to deal with him.

He tried to empty his mind and used Occlumency to resist the spiritual infiltration of the evil spirit.

About a year ago, Ivan started practicing Occlumency, which could effectively help the user resist the invasion and influence of Legeremancy.

It was not like a wand that could be mastered quickly, and the recurring distractions in his mind made him do a poor job.

Ivan couldn't close his mind like Snape, but the effect of using this spell was really quite obvious.

The dream in front of him looked like a bad television signal. The image began to show obvious fluctuations and was no longer as clear as before.

With Ivan's mind closed, the connection between the two sides was getting weaker and weaker.

The statue of the evil spirit and the exquisite city of centaurs under the terrace began to crumble and fragment, and Ivan fell into an endless pit that formed beneath him.

When he awoke, it was already dawn.

Nothing in front of him had changed, as if nothing had happened.

The morning chill sobered Ivan. He sat up in bed and panted for a while, thinking about the evil spirit and the vampire that appeared in the dream.

When the sweat on his body completely dissipated, he got out of bed and walked over to the window.

Outside, the night was fading, and dawn was slowly awakening the sleeping creatures.

Ivan opened the window and fresh air slowly came in.

In the sky, the gray-blue dome began to gradually fade from overhead and became a faint blue smoke that rimmed the horizon.

A soft mist rose at the edge of the forest, and the distant hills were smeared with a soft milky white. The white mist made everything hazy and illusory.

Just as Ivan was immersed in the beautiful scenery in front of him, he suddenly heard a high-pitched, somber scream, which sounded very sad.

He looked down and saw a white-skinned woman under the window.

She had long silver-white hair with a shawl and a black cloak. He couldn't see her face and age clearly, though.

For some reason, she cried a lot. She clapped her hands and made a loud noise.

The voice was very loud, and it was particularly harsh in the empty, quiet streets of the early morning.

But strangely, no one came out to dissuade or inquire about the situation.

Ivan even had the strange feeling that he was the only one who could hear her crying.

It was so strange that when he just wanted to ask what was going on, the woman under the window seemed to sense it, and suddenly raised her head and stared at Ivan.

What a face he had! Bluish-white skin, dilated pupils, and facial features that had begun to rot and deform - she was a dead person!

Ivan took a step back and could not believe what he had seen.

Unbelievable!!! He actually saw a dead woman moving and crying.

What the hell was going on? was it Necromancy, witchcraft or some other kind of magic?!!

Ivan thought of the Inferi, but this woman obviously had her own thoughts. Or maybe it was an indescribable creation of the evil spirit.

After her attempt to infiltrate and control Ivan in his dreams failed, she sent such a being.

The monster below seemed very pleased with Ivan's reaction.

Looking at the frightened boy, it opened its large terrifying mouth, exaggerated its facial features, flashed an ugly grin, and a few maggots fell out of it.

After a brief shock, Ivan quickly recovered.

Without a doubt, it was a Banshee!

He had already seen the introduction of this dark creature in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and in the textbook "Defense Against the Darkest Arts", but he had never seen it until today.

I didn't expect it to be any more horrible than described in the books.

In fact, seeing a Banshee was very rare, it was harmless, but in general, wizards thought it was extremely unfortunate to see one.

From a divination perspective, it was a very bad and ominous omen, second only to the big black dog that predicted death.

As her name suggested, if the Banshee's prophet saw her crying loudly near him, it meant that the person he chose would soon die....
