JESSY'S BROKENNESS

"If he gives me the same amount today, I could get a few things to cook instead of buying food.'

Recalling the way his smile broadened as he said gently, "My dear you are back today again, this is truly wonderful?"

Jessy was happy to see him smiling, responding to him honestly, "Yes Uncle, I hope you don't mind."

"Oh child, I am glad for the assistant and the company, if you will start with the wiping at the alter, then the pews and mop the floor that will be a great help."

Jessy was so happy that she came earlier today, feeling such joy in her heart, she sings as she wipe and cleaned.

When she finish the task at the altar, she sweep the floor and mopped.

Completed the task that was given to her, she went and help outside with the sweeping.

Unaware it was so late being so caught up with the cleaning, she lost track of time when the Janitor came to stop her. "Child, you are so happy working in God's house that the work has become so light."

It was only when Jessy finish sweeping right around the church and heard the Janitor she knew it was time to leave. In Jessy's heart, she felt a little fear in her, she didn't know the city too well and didn't want to take any risk of travelling too late.

"Uncle, I must go now, it is really getting late." Jessy knew back home at no time she was permitted to leave the premises after six but here she was free to move without supervision.

Jessy felt this sudden brokenness in her heart as memories flooded back concerning the big fight she and Papa had had before she left in search of Johanna and to find true love.

It was only at this moment Jessy's heart felt lonely especially what Mark did to her. No one was even aware that she was going to get married and what a disaster and embarrassment that was.

Jessy thought what she had with Mark was true love, but when he accepted the money Johanna proposed when she was left standing at the altar and married her. It was the last straw because he didn't hesitate for one second.

Jessy was broken and doubted that there was no such thing as true love and Papa was right. It was all just in fairy tail and fiction books.

After what Johanna did to her the pain was still fresh and unbearable. "I would never think that Johanna would stoop so low to snatch my love away. Now I know that breaking all bonds with her as the family did was the right decision."

"She is heartless and very reckless, because of my love for her, I defended her by asking that every year she be allocated a portion of money. But after what she did to me when I return home I will have to cut all ties and let her fend for herself."
