THE URGE

Exhaling, Jessy straightened herself before saying, "Thank you, Mister, you saved my life."

"Not a problem, but are you alright?" Jessy saw the concern on his face and nodded.

Jessy knew she could not say enough thanks so she dipped her hand in her pocket retrieving the hundred dollar note she took to buy a few items at the supermarket and gave it to the driver.

The driver accepted it and was about to return the change when she stopped him. "Brother, thank you, you keep the change."

Craig felt his heart skipped a beat when she called him brother. "Ma'am, you call me brother, now tell me are you all right? I was sure that car was aiming directly for you?"

"No need to worry, I am okay all because you alerted me." Jessy knew it had to be the Lord that had saved her, whispering a silent thank You Lord for Your protection.

Walking away Jessy whispers, "Lord, what is happening? It seems every turn I make my life is being put in danger. I would really, like to know whose toes I am stepping on for them to want me dead."

Just then she heard the taxi driver say as he stopped the car beside her, "You call me brother, so come and let me take you home safely."

Jessy smiled and refused his offer without offending him, "Thank you so much, but I have an errand to complete." Waving to him she hurried along seeing the supermarket.

Jessy knew she only had the taxi fare in her pocket, but she had an urge to go to the supermarket. She had only entered the supermarket when an elderly lady was being abused by a young lady.

The young lady was beautifully dressed in her sky-blue work suit, and her black Gucci bag indicated she was not an ordinary person but from an influential family. Her face was spotless but there was an evil intention, especially in the way she abused the elderly lady verbally.

Anger boils in Jessy's heart as she observes her uncivilized behaviour and attitude, towards the elderly lady, it is so ugly and unbearable.

Her tone of voice was loud as though she wanted everyone to hear and see her.

Jessy was even more stunned that there were so many around and not one person took the initiative to be brave or bold enough to speak on behalf.

Jessy, heart weakened seeing the tears on the elderly lady's face especially when the young lady shouted at her, "Are you blind, can't you see where you are going?"

Jessy felt her heart burn even more with rage, as she looked at the elderly lady on her knees scrambling up the few items that were scattered on the floor.

Bending down Jessy held the elder-lady hand, "Granny, are you alright? You don't need to do this."

Jessy then took her aside and said, "I will take those up, you wait here."

Without a second glance at the young lady Jessy bent down and retrieved all the fallen items.

She also noticed how the supermarket attendants were looking at the young lady as though they were afraid to get involved.

Ignoring them all, she took the few items to the elderly lady. "Here you go, Granny."

With the young lady gawking at the elderly lady, Jessy wondered what mishap had occurred to cause her to be so angry.

Feeling sorry for Granny, Jessy wanted to apologise on her behalf seeing the fear in her eyes.

Just then the young lady approached Granny and snapped, "I hope you have enough money to compensate me for the damages because I am going to call the police."

Jessy could not help but ask, "Excuse me, what has Granny done for you to speak to her in that manner and why call the Police? Show me."

Jessy noticed the way her eyes contracted before her outburst, "Hello, this is none of your business, so get lost and mind your own business."

At that very moment a young man in a nevy-blue well-tailored suit steps in.

Observing the crowd he looks around and then ventures towards the elderly lady. "Granny, what is taking you so long?"

"Is this your grandmother?" the young lady asks, thinking this is the moment to execute her plan for easy money.

"Yes, is there a problem?"

"I could say she wasn't paying attention and stepped on my shoes. Now that you are here you can compensate me or I will call the police."
