THE CONFUSION

Jessy immediately turned around to see if Brent had stepped out of the room, but the door was still closed and Brent was not in sight.

Florence noticed her reaction and followed her gaze but the curtain was the only thing moving.

Looking at her husband, Florence was confused by his behaviour, she wanted to know exactly what was happening.

Jessy on the other hand missed Mrs Larson's gaze, all that was on her mind was, 'What was Mr Larson talking about?

Confusion bombarded her mind, 'I know he is unaware of Brent's presence in the apartment, '

Then the thought clicked, 'This is Brent's apartment so I am sure he thinks Brent is here, is that why they came thinking they will find him here?' "Mr Larson, why is it I feel you are trying to confuse me?"

His laugh baffled both of them, "I suppose you will be, but soon you will understand."

Florence looked at her husband, desperate and frustrated, what is it he is trying to say, "Brent, I am confused much less for the young lady."

Jessy noticed the way he kept smiling, strange as it may seem there was a joy that brought out a glow in his eyes as he said, "I don't know how to explain it myself but I am confused too?"

When Florence asks, "Miss Albert, are you sure it was a peardrax you gave him, he sounds intoxicated?"

Jessy was thinking if Mr Latson was alright herself, "Ma'am, he looks drunk, will he be alright?"

With the way Florence keeps looking at her, Jessy is left with no choice, so she takes up the peardrax bottle and smells it, "Ma'am, I believe it is peardrax, now I am really confused, Ma'am I only hope you know Mr Larson cannot drive you home?"

Florence was also baffled by Jessy's concern and how confused she was. Unaware of her action she reassured her by saying, "I will drive dear, just help me with him to the car."

Brent had never felt this relaxed in years but all he did was laugh, while muttering, "Honey, I am fine and there is no need to worry."

Florence couldn't help herself from becoming frustrated, she refuted him, "Shut your mouth and let us return home."

Jessy listens to the both of them arguing, afraid to get in between, What was shocking was when he said, "I will, but I want you to know Junior is right here."

'Good Lord did he see Brent?' Once again Jessy eyes were directed towards the bedroom door. Brent was no way in sight, 'So how is it possible for him to know that Boss is here?'

When Florence said, "Brent, I understand what you are feeling, I know he is close to your heart."

"Honey, I mean he is here, I can smell him."

Hearing her laugh "Yeah, you drink peardrax and get drunk, next time I go somewhere, I will only allow you to drink water, it seems that peardrax is fermented."

Jessy couldn't help but chuckle when she looked at them, one angry and the other happy. Quite a scene yet she admired their love for each other.

Unable to control her curiosity she asks, "Ma'am, is such a thing possible?"

Florence was even angrier by her question, "Are you more intoxicated than him, what sort of foolish question is that?"

Jessy couldn't help but say, "I don't know, Ma'am, but just look at him, he came sober and in a sound mind, he only consumed the peardrax and look at him now? his behaviour is evidence. Ma'am, it is the only explanation for his behaviour and listen to his speech ."

Still confused, Florence had no choice she urged Jessy to assist her with Mr Larson to the car. "Ma'am, please drive carefully."

Without even realizing it Florence gently lifted her left hand and stroked Jessy's head then her face. With words of reassurance, she said, "I will, so I don't want you to worry about him."

With them now settled in the car Jessy returned to the apartment laughing. Muttering to herself, "I must drink one, I need to get drunk, so it will wipe away the worry of the day."

Halfway through the peardrax hearing the knocking on the door, wondering 'Who it could be now?'

Opening the door Jessy saw Mr Larson standing tall looking at her. "Sir, have you forgotten something?"

Mr Larson stepped through the door saying, "I was checking for Junior."
