Trying to convince herself that Brent wouldn't expose himself, Jessy confidently responded, "What would he be doing here, Sir?"
When he stumbles on the mat Jessy grabs hold of him laughingly and says, "I have to get rid of this mat.'
When Mr Larson said, "I don't know child but something tells me I am right."
Jessy was pleased that a father could sense his son's presence without seeing him. With that thought she let go of Mr Larson's hand after he straightened up,
Jessy knew now was not the time to reveal their secret so she said, "Sir, how is that possible? and Sir why is it you are standing up straight, were you playing a trick on me?"
Florence couldn't believe her ears after hearing her foolish question especially when they laugh like everything is a joke. She was more frustrated with the idle conversation that made no sense.
"No, my dear, I am still confused, and looking at my wife I know she is confused, and look at you, you seem confused yourself, but I know Junior is here, I can feel him in my heart."
At those words Jessy felt like her head was floating, she bent her head clamping it between her knees, trying to control her mind, wanting desperately not to expose her secret.
With her head still bent she responded, "Oh, Mr Larson, I know you love your son very much, now go home and rest, and tomorrow I will send him home to you."
"So are you telling me, he's here?" Jessy laughed drawing Florence's attention who looked at her with her mouth slightly open, wondering what was wrong with this girl now.
Glancing at the half-drink peardrax bottle on the centre table, she walks forward and lifts the bottle to her nose. To her surprise it was just peardrax but why is it she looked intoxicated like Brent?
Florence felt frustrated she wanted to believe that they were playing a trick but the evidence was right before her eyes, now how is that possible?
Jessy said, "If you say you can feel his presence, then you could be right."
Refuting Jessy Florence snapped, "Are you alright, or have you lost your mind ?"
Laughingly Jessy answered innocently, "Me, I am fine ma'am."
Unable to control her rage Florence asks, "Then why are you agreeing with him?"
"I am, what did you ask me, Uncle?" Florence looked at Jessy's confusion as she scratched her head, looking at Mr Larson hoping he would remind her of what she had said.
"Good Lord, now it's the two of them?" Feeling helpless wondering what she must do
Brent leaned towards his wife and said, "Florence darling, I know my Son is here?"
Exhasparation flooded her mind "If he is here then where is he?" Florence felt her head would explode with his foolishness.
Jessy stood up staggering as her footstep wobbled, she almost fell, balancing herself she asked, "What? Where is he, I can't see him."
Brent rests his head on the sofa headrest, closing his eyes he whispers, "I am telling you, darling, I can feel him."
Jessy wanted to divert his attention, "Who is here Uncle?"
"Junior, where is he? Let me talk to him?"
Jessy sits abruptly beside him and asks, "Sir, tell me is he really here, I have to speak to him. Do you know he allows me to overseer the homeless home but he doesn't seem to care or visit the construction site? Can you tell me, is he angry with me for any reason?"
Florence was exaggerated "Now I have heard enough, give me that peardrax?"
Hearing Jessy laugh Florence holds Brent's hand as they walk out towards the car and sit in the yard,
"Sorry, Ma'am, you will have to get your own, this is mine, it seems when you drink it from the bottle you get drunk."
Hearing her outburst sounded so ridiculous, but she was laughing and so was Brent.
Looking out the window Brnet saw the way his Dad and Jessy were sitting in the yard and Mom was coming towards the front door. Hurridly he returned to the bedroom.
Peeping to see what she was doing, she went to the refrigerator took out a bottle of peardrax and went outside.
She was sitting on the front passenger side of the car listening to the two of them, they were laughing and talking as Mom looked along.
Jessy was so intoxicated she wasn't aware of what she said, "Ma'am, can I tell you something?"
