Chapter 6

Chapter 6: New Girlfriend

"Kaizer!"

"Mom, I'm coming!" I shouted before putting the telephone back on my ears. "Still there, babe? Call you later, hm? Wait for my call—"

"Kai! Your dad has been calling you! Why are you doing? Who are you to talking to?" my mother asked a series of questions, her eyes narrowed into slits. "Is that Tam again?"

From that moment, I felt like someone just splashed a cold water on my face. "M-Mom... h-how long have you been there?"

Her suspicion arise. "Answer me, Kai, is that Tam?" my mother asked. She was getting emotional "How many times do I have to tell you that she's your cousin, son?! Tam is your freaking cousin!"

I opened my mouth but my mind was overly chaotic. I can't even say a single letter. Tears started forming in my eyes. I felt numb but I can my heart beating aggressively inside me. And before I can even move or say anything, my room window creaked open and Troy greeted me with a smile.

When he saw my mom, his mischievous smile is gone and he knew he was trapped. "T-Tita!"

"Troy?" My mom's eyes widened as she recognize my friend. "Oh my God! What are you doing there? Did you just climbed up to my son's room?"

"You don't have any door, Tita—"

"Troy?!"

"—that is open, Tita. All you doors are closed," Troy continued, laughing nervously.

"Have you eaten? Come with us, we're going to have dinner." Mom then looked at me, showing me her palm. "Give me that telephone and your phone as well, Kai. You can only get those when you have answered me and you have told the truth."

"But Mom—"

"No buts, Kaizer. Just give me the—" My mom froze midway when Troy closed the window harsly. When he noticed that we were looking at him, he flashed a smile.

"How can Kaizer call his girlfriend now, Tita?" he asked, making me glare at him. He just winked at me, mouthing, "I got this, man. Don't worry."

My mom heaved a sigh. "You know he can't be with Tam, Troy. What's wrong if I confiscate his connection with that girl?"

Troy dramatically covered his mouth, trying to look surprised. "Tita, haven't you been informed?" He gasped, glancing at me, then back at my mother. "Kaizer's girlfriend is new. It's not Tam anymore."

My eyes widened with disbelief, so do my mom's. She looked at me unbelievingly before rerouting his gaze back at Troy.

"I... Is that true, Troy? Kai?"

I was about to rebuke when Troy started laughing. "Yes, Tita. She's gorgeous! Very kind and smart!"

"I want to meet her, Kaizer!" my mom said excitedly, her eyes filled with joy. "What's her name, Troy? What's her name?"

I sighed. "M-Mom, it's not—"

"A-Ayine! Her name is Ayine, Tita!"

Just then, my mom walked out the room with a wide smile on her lips. She even told me to invite her over so she can meet 'my girlfriend' personally which is not true by the way.

When I looked at Troy, he winked and gave me a thumbs up. He looks so proud in his own craziness.

"What the hell, man? Did you just made up a story?" I asked, dumbfounded.

"Just thank me, Kai. I made up those to save your face and your secret relationship," he replied in a mocking tone. I was about to hit him when he suddenly run away, following my mom downstairs. "Come on, man! We're to have dinner!"
