25. Perfect ID...

Grgnhhngng...

The sound that always made Ben flinch. He was sure he was going to get a heart attack due to this phone ringing.

"Yes sir??

" give her the phone." here we go again., Ben thought to himself. Maybe they would make an extra phone, or he could just move this one over to her side of the table, so she could pick up his call from now on. He hands the phone over to her.

" Go over to Dazzle, and tell everyone there to give you a list of fabrics that have finished, or that they need. Was all he said then he hung up.

She handed the phone back to Ben., took out a pen and a book from her bag and walked over to Dazzle.

As a fashion design assistant, this place was her dream. She wished to work in here, create something beautiful in here like all these other people where doing.

DAZZLE was where she wanted to be, she loved the continuous sound of sewing machines, and the sound of fabrics being cut. She wanted to get chalk on her hands and work on something great. But, she wasn't sure that was going to be happening anytime soon.

By the way, who was she supposed to talk to here. Everyone seemed busy.

"Isla right?, a young man just about two inches taller than her called out. She tried remembering his name.

"Julio, julio Fernandez. She says, hoping she got it right.

" Yes, yes that's my name, but do you need something??

"Ahh., yes, yes I do. Damon., I mean Mr King told me to get a list of fabrics needed, but everyone seems busy I don't know who to ask. She explains her predicament to the man.

" oh., just a sec... HEY EVERYONE, his sudden increase in pitch made Isla flinch in shock. She's here for the list , now or never. He yelled at the top of his voice. And at his words, for the first time since Isla entered that hall, they all stopped what they were doing and started scurrying around, looking through the different rows and yards of fabric.

"For me., I'm out of white raw denim. Julio said, and she immediately wrote it down.

" I'll need some Princeton orange cowhide leather. Another person said. Where out of Tiffany blue Baronet satin. Another person echoed. I also need some white raw denim. We just have a little desert sand brown stretch denim left. Add cobalt blue cashmere to that list. Also, we need some Mauve purple Nubuck leather.

Words just kept coming out of their mouths, her head was spinning, she was trying so had to jot all they were saying down. How could there be so many fabrics in a place, and yet they needed more?? DAZZLE is literally fortified, or should we say fabricfied. And these people were still in need of more. This place was more than incredible.

After successfully writing down two full pages of things they needed, she first sat down to analyse and sort them. Fabric by fabric. All kinds of denims were put under the denim column, and all kind of leathers were put under the leathers column, and so on. Then she went back to her Boss.

As usual she knocked on the door, and he replied with the phone.

"sir, I got the list of materials you told me to get sir.

" how many are they?? How could his voice be so cold every single time.

"A total of sixty-eight different fabrics sir. Twenty-two different kinds of denims, sixteen different leathers, fifteen different velvets and fifteen different chiffon.

" that's not enough. He mumbled.

"sir?

"give Ben the phone. She handed the phone over to Ben. Ben, give her the list of companies we buy fabrics from, let her go get them herself.

" but sir, I thought they deliver the fabrics. Ben innocently asks.

"and I thought you wanted to loose your job. Damon threatened. And Ben abruptly stands up from his seat, like he was in the presence of the general of the US army. He was at attention.

" I'm sorry sir, I'll do as you say right away"

"Give her the phone. Ben transfers the phone to her. Make sure you carry out the task Ben gives you and do it before the end of today. Once again, he said what he had to and he hung up.

She couldn't help but think how in the world was she supposed to make up for her sins, or mend his broken heart when he wouldn't even see her. He didn't even want to look at her face, he didn't want her near him. He made that extremely clear.

"Ben, he said you'd give me a task.

" here. He hands over some files to her. These are the companies we buy fabrics from. He said you should go get all the fabrics yourself.

"What., but I don't know how I'm going to do that. And all before the end of the day. And I'm the newbie. Would they even listen to me, what am I even going to say to them. What was Damon thinking giving her such task. How was she supposed to do this.

" don't worry., they already know how we do business. No need to worry about payment, that's the second Bosses business. Just go to the required company for the material you need, and let them know you're from King's corp department 25, and they'll attend to you.

"How do I identify as a king's Corp worker, more or less a department 25 worker? I don't have a workers ID yet remember. She said frustrated.

" that I can't answer. I think you should talk to the boss about that. She was going to knock on the door, but then decided to use the phone instead, since there was no use knocking.

" What?

"sir it's about the task you gave me., I don't have a recognizable workers ID, so I don't think they'd attend to me.

" Workers ID are for workers, you're just a tryout. There's no need to waste the cards. Tell Ben to come to my office. He said then hung up. Every time he spoke to her, every word he said was like a needle slowly piercing her heart over and over.

" He wants you in his office. She tells Ben, and he jumps out of his chair and runs over.

He comes back with a piece of ID card sized paper., and hands it over to her. What she saw brought tears to her eyes., brought back the memories that she held on to. Even though he'd changed a lot, somethings still haven't changed.

He wrote her name on the card and underneath it was personal assistant of Damon King and then his signature. Her fingers traced the words, traced his signature. His handwriting was still the same. He still wrote her name the same way, and his signature also did not change. He always signed the drawings he gave to her back then.

She definitely loved this card more than any workers ID she would have gotten. This was just the perfect ID. And for some reason, she liked the sound of personal assistant of Damon king. It made her feel like she was his own. She wished.

After going through the files Ben gave her, she wrote out the names of the companies that concerned the fabrics she needed and went off to do her tasks.

"Going somewhere??

" Yes Mr King, I was told to get some fabrics. Isla said to Marcel King.

"okay. I'm heading out myself. Come on, I'll give you a ride".
