After escaping the wrath of the mini dark lord, we went to collect our scores. I didn't care too much when they started giving grades and why. I was more focused on what I would eat at the feast.
My work in this world was coming to an end, and I can bet that a certain boy who survived will make a case out of it, so I'd better keep my mouth shut. Very little left.
-------------------------------------------------- ----------------------
The days passed quietly, Harry was already preparing the potion he was going to use to dive into the Black Lake, where he needed to recover his lost treasure. But before that, there would be the Ball, where the treasures would be known.
I won't deny, despite the classes, I was a little nervous. First, because I had to dance, second, because I had to dance in front of a whole school, and third, I didn't want to embarrass my partner because of me.
A man's insecurities never change, even in another life.
The 4 of us were waiting at the entrance to the great hall, I wore a nice black Muggle suit with a gold tie, which stood out against all the dark clothes I wore.
Harry was perfectly dressed for a wizard with money, cape, white bow tie, pinstripe trousers and well-polished shoes. Nev followed the same style but in a browner color.
Ron, I couldn't face it. He looked awful. And this time it wasn't his parents' fault, it was his own. He was bragging about having chosen the best and most elegant clothes that would do justice to his beautiful self.
The clothes were actually good, but the accoutrements were messing with that aristocratic vibe of him. He looked like a clown in an expensive suit. Too bad I can't vomit.
Then the girls come down. Ginny wore a red dress, highlighting her beautiful braided red hair, white skin and beautiful smile. Luna appears next to her, wearing a blue dress, and a bottle cap necklace, next to a flower tiara.
A cute little thing I must admit.
But Emma, I mean Hermione, was perfect. A pink dress, her once unruly hair now tied back in an intricate but pretty frame, light makeup on her eyes and lips, and a cardigan in case she gets chilly.
I won't deny it, I almost drooled. And to top it off, my little brother saw it, and I knew, he would never leave me alone because of it. I bet before we step into the great hall, my mangy dad will know about it.
Damn double mirror.
McGonagall escorted us to the big doors, with each couple waiting in line, and I could see the Slytherin who was with Fleur, barely able to hold his hand towards the girl.
Victor was with a Ravenclaw girl, who if I'm not mistaken, is in the same DADA class as me. But I don't know her name, and it doesn't matter. In front of me, Ginny and Harry, with her holding his arm. I miss a camera here.
I wanted to rub that goofy smile on his face.
Beside me, tense Hermione, who was shaking a little with anxiety.
"Relax sweetie, you look beautiful in that dress, so much so that I almost mistook you for a Veela, and I bet, if I don't watch out, many others here have tried to dance with you, leaving me alone and helpless." I tease her.
And it seemed to work, because while she was smiling at the beginning, by the end, she was holding back from hitting me.
"Funny, but it looks like I'll be the one in the corner, while you'll be doing a lot of dancing. I hear you have at least 4 more dances lined up." she retorts, looking at me with narrowed eyes.
"Oh yes, that's true, but the same goes for you. Didn't the girls tell you? After me, you'll dance with Nev, Harry, Dean and George. Most likely Fred will try too." I warn her, and she widens her eyes.
"Because I'm going to dance with them?" she looked tense now.
"Well, I had arranged with the boys for us to switch our dance partners between us, and then we talked to them. But you're always so focused on your books, you took it without realizing it. Your mistake."
"And when was that?" she was tense now.
"At breakfast 3 days ago, at the library 2 days ago and the last time was dinner yesterday." I show her my fingers, making her even more tense.
Gina, in front of us comments.
"True Hermione, Evans asked you those 3 times if that was okay with you, but you just grunted in response, more focused on your book. The last time, you even yelled that you heard it, and left, with your book." she delivers the final stab.
"But I wasn't...." she tries to escape.
"No, it won't work. Now get ready, it's time." then I led the nervous and frozen Hermione into the hall.
Seeing her desperation and nervousness in that situation, I just approached lightly and whispered. "I'll guide you, but just this once. Relax."
And we dance. Very. In the middle of the dance, Harry and I signaled and at that moment, we changed our partners, who weren't prepared, but did well. I saw the look of Fleur and Victor, worried, because they didn't know if that was part of the dance or not.
So Harry and I went back to our original partners, finishing the dance in grand style, with each of us striking his partner a different pose than the original.
(I will try, if I don't forget, to leave pictures of how they were here.)
So the party went on. I danced with Luna, while Harry danced with Anna, Nev with Susan, Fred with Hermione, Dean with Ginny. In the other song we exchanged, and so it was, until everyone had danced with everyone else.
Then came the party itself, with a strange musical group, but with a cool and dancing sound. We made our little group among the rest of the school and danced with each other.
Some songs we even made the joke of dancing the 'men' as partners, while I was Jorge's partner. In one song, he played the role of the girl, in the other, it was my turn, which made the girls laugh heartily.
It was a really fun night, too bad it lasted so little. Of course, Grimmauld would soon have such parties, so just wait.
