Grudge

Eloise had said what she said but Samantha felt like she was allowed to feel a different way about the whole arrangement. It wasn't that it did not stun to find out Louisa had been telling a lie all along, it did. Matter of fact, she was pretty astonished by it. But there was something about Eloise's decision to punish Louisa by treating her to the post of a cleaner — something about that did not sound good to Samantha. An unsettling feeling flew down to the pit of her belly driving her to wince outwardly.

Eloise must have noticed the look on her face, and could possibly tell it spanned from her feelings of indifference. This was because she squinted her eyes as if to concentrate on Samantha's soul. What was she trying to pick out of there?

"Mother," Samantha said quietly in observance of her critical stare. "Is there something you are bothered about?"
