Jaysa finally made her way into the dining room. She saw her husband and the priest she spoke to at her wedding, sitting at the table. Danzel sat at the front of the long rectangular table eating his breakfast made of eggs, meat, and bread. Joseph sat to the Kings right but was not eating. He was talking to Danzel, who looked like he was ignoring the man's words. Danzel drank from his glass and noticed Jaysa walk into the dining area. He sat down the glass and patted his face with the napkin before setting it on the half eaten plate. Danzel stood from his spot. He looked over and Jaysa's direction before storming over to her side.
"It's about time you got here!" Danzel yelled. "What took you so long? You are my Queen and you need to act like one. You can't be late for breakfast or any other event." Danzel barely took a breath as he continued to yell at her. "What if we had guest? You can't just waltz in whenever you please." Danzel didn't give Jaysa a chance to respond before he looked passed her and stomped towards the maid. "I told you to get here ASAP. Not whenever you damn well pleased. I should have you whipped for not following the easiest comma –" a loud sound was echoed through the room. Danzel was cut off from what he was trying to say. He was in shock that no words could come out. He blinked his eyes a couple times trying to verify who was standing in front of him. When did she? He questioned.
"It's not her fault." Jaysa spoke at the man. She was not letting him punish the girl for her being selfish. When she heard him speak of punishment, she ran over to Danzel and smacked him without thinking. The room was silent until Jaysa spoke out. Both the priest and the maid looked at the couple not knowing what to do. Joseph had stood from his seat, but did not move after that. He just watched for what would happen next.
"What you mean it's not her fault?" He hissed. They even had a conversation about how she should act with other people around and she just broke the promise.
"It's not her fault." She spoke louder. "I asked her to take me to the girls in the cells, but she insisted me to come here instead. I didn't listen to her, instead I argued. So that makes it my fault for being late." He glared at her and switches eyes to the young maid.
"Is that true?" He hissed. The maids' eyes were struck with fear. His ocean blue eyes pierced her soul. The poor girl was frightened to the point where she couldn't move. "I'm waiting for an answer." Danzel growled.
"Danze –"
"Don't call me by my real name." He cut off Jaysa. "I asked her to answer my question." He never moved his eyes off of the young girl. She glanced at Jaysa and back of Danzel.
"It… It's true." She stuttered out.
"What's true?" He yelled out.
"Stop that!" Jaysa yelled grabbing Danzel's arm. "You're scaring her." He looked at Jaysa and spoke.
"I want to hear what she has to say." He yelled back at Jaysa. "What's true?" He yelled again as his eyes were back on the young maid's.
"Yes, your Majesty. It was true that she did ask about the women. I did advise her to come here as quickly as possible. So what the Queen said is the truth." Danzel clicked his tongue.
"Fine, I'll take that. Now get out of my sight." He spoke harshly towards the girl. The maid bowed and quickly made her way out of the room. When the girl was gone, Danzel turned to his wife. Anger still lingered in his eyes. He took a step forward and Jaysa took a step back.
"What…?" She questioned. There was fear heard in her voice when she spoke. She mentally hit herself for letting her voice give away her feelings. Jaysa felt her legs hit the table that was behind her not allowing her to escape. Danzel put both of his hands on each side of her making sure she would not get away.
"I thought I told you to obey me?" Danzel's voice was cold as ice.
"You said when we are in public." She was in complete fear, but she couldn't show it to this man.
"You hit me…" His voice went low. "…again." Jaysa's eyes glared at the man.
"You were about to punish the girl for my mistake." She yelled at Danzel. She was not going to let him harm that girl.
"You broke your promise." He spoke breaking her from her thoughts. "So I'm allowed to break mine."
"What?" She spoke not quite understanding what he was talking about.
"You said that you will be my obedient wife, and in exchange, I'll let those girls free. However, you broke that promise by smacking and talking back to me like just you did." What has she done? She knew he was not kidding. Jaysa had just messed up the chance for those girls to go home to their families. It was all her fault for believing she was some kind of hero. She was no hero; she was nothing but a joke. Her head hung down not wanting to look at the man.
"Fine," she spoke. Her head shot up. "Go ahead and throw me into those cells with those other women. Go ahead and rape me, or have your guards do it. I don't give a damn anymore." She yelled out. "Besides, I bet you never plan on letting those girls go." Danzel's eyes went wide with anger as she spoke. Another sound echoed through the room. Jaysa was looking towards the floor. She blinked her eyes a couple times to register what happened. She felt heat buildup in her cheek. That was when she realized that he had hit her. Jaysa slowly moved her head to look at her husband. Her eyes pierced the man, but Danzel kept his stance. He was not about to allow her to get away with speaking and acting like she did. He did not show her any fear even though she tried to afflict it onto him. Danzel was soon shocked at what he saw. A smirk spread across her face as she spoke. "I see how it is. If you want to make an enemy out of me, then an enemy you will have." Jaysa pushed Danzel off her. He did not resist at all. He was absorbed by her piercing gaze. She walked past the man out of the room.
Jaysa was not paying any attention to where she was going. She just wanted to get away from the room, away from that man. Jaysa finally stopped. Her legs were trembling. The smirk, she wore was no longer there. Jaysa leaned against the wall when she felt her knees give away making her fall to the floor. She covered her mouth as she was arched over. Tears were falling from her eyes. She wasn't crying because of the pain, but from her husband. She was actually scared of her husband. She held her ground, but she was still frightened. She wept for a while until she couldn't cry anymore. She propped up against the wall taken in the several breathes. Jaysa knew she had to get up soon before someone found her. She stood up and wiped the bottom of her dress for any dirt that might have made its way onto her outfit. She looked around not recognizing any of the scenery. Jaysa saw rows of doors down the hall she was in. Jaysa decided to get a bit snoopy and wanted to check them out. She was unlucky though. Many of the doors were locked. She kept trying though. The fifth door she tried surprised her when she turned the handle and it clicks. Opening the door, Jaysa walked in and was completely amazed.
