Back in the dining room, Danzel stood in the same place he was when Jaysa left. He was staring at his hand. He hit her; he had really hit her with his own hand. He punched the table with the same hand he used to smack Jaysa. Why was he shaking so? Was it because he hit her? Or was it because he was actually scared of her? Danzel shook his head. There is no way in hell that he was scared of that woman. However, his body told him different. It was her eyes that sent chills down his spine. Maybe he bit off more than he could chew when he decided to pick her as his Queen. He couldn't help that he fell for her and wanted her to become his wife, have his children. Was it really a good idea that he married a woman that won't obey him?
"Are you regretting marrying a bitch like that?" A gruff voice was heard in the room. Danzel snapped his head over to the direction of the voice. He saw his uncle who sat at the other side of the long table drinking his wine peacefully. He wore a smirk on his face. "I would totally understand if you want to rid of her." He spoke to his nephew. Danzel just glared at him. "I have told you that women should not have a voice. You can see firsthand why I told you this." Danzel's eyes burned with hatred.
"I don't regret marrying her. She is the woman I picked and I plan to die with her." Danzel spoke with proud. Martin smirked. Danzel scanned the room for the priest and was unable to find him. First this man appeared with him not knowing and now the priest had disappeared. "What is going on?" He questioned himself. "Excuse me. I need to go." Danzel pushed away from the table and headed for the exit. Martin chuckled. He couldn't help but noticed the fresh claw marks on his nephews face. He knew right away that it was her that had made those marks.
"With those fresh marks, I doubt they've had sex yet." He spoke quietly. He swirled the wine in his glass. The smirk did not leave his face, but spread wider. He might not have to step in. She just might be the ticket to destroying his nephew's chances of staying King.
Jaysa walked into the room she found. The room was not only huge, but it was two stories high with a very high ceiling. She was not sure what the room was used for so she started to investigate. There were several wooden shelves that held what looked like literatures. She had never seen so many books in her life. The room was filled with them from the bottom where she was and at the next level above her. Jaysa walked over to one of the shelves and scan the books. She might've been raised poor, but her mother did teach her how to read when she was little, and before all the laws changed. She found a book that caught her eye. How to love was the title. She pulled it out of the spot it rested and began to flip between the pages.
"What are you doing miss?" The questioned scared Jaysa that she yelped and in the process, drop the book on the floor. When she turned around, she saw Joseph standing close to her. "Sorry miss, I didn't mean to scare you." He spoke gently like he always does.
"No, I'm fine." Jaysa replied as she squat down to pick up the book.
"I see you found the library." The priest spoke.
"I actually found it by accident." Jaysa admitted. She couldn't tell him she was being a snoop and tried the other doors. She put the book back on the shelf.
"Do you read? He questioned. Jaysa wasn't shocked by that question. It's very rare for peasants to know how to read.
"My mom taught me." She replied. The priest nodded.
"In this room, there are several types of book. We have maps, information about our kingdoms past, and even some books that are just stories. Some are even in a different language."
"Why is that?" She asked. The priest smiled.
"The past King's believed, if you want allies, you should know their culture." Jaysa could understand that. "Danzel had to read all of these books when he was growing up. Sometimes he would hide here when he wanted to get away from his studies." Jaysa really didn't want to hear about that man right now, but she was interested to hear about his past.
"Does he know how to read the books not in our words?" Jaysa questioned.
"Yes, he had to." Joseph walked over to the shelf that held the book Jaysa was just looking at and pulled it back out of it spot. He looked at Jaysa and handed her the book. "I understand that this marriage was not something you deSire, but please forgive his Majesty. He may act tough, but that's because of all the pressure of being King weighing on his shoulders." The man brushed a piece of hair behind her ear. "I really hope you can help him with some of that burden. And if you could, even love him."
"Love him?" Jaysa spoke as she rolled her eyes.
"Well, even if you don't, please support him. He needs someone like you." He put one of her hands on the book and covered it with his own. He removed his hands. Jaysa now held the book; she pushed it towards the priest. He waived it off and said. "Take it to your room and read it. You can come back when you're finished to grab another." Jaysa smiled. Suddenly a loud grumbling noise was heard. The priest just chuckled a bit. Jaysa started to blush in embarrassment. "Well, you did skip breakfast. I'll ask a maid to bring food to your room." Joseph turned to walk away when he felt a pull on his robe. He turned to look down at Jaysa that was still red.
"I want to thank you and…" Jaysa's face turned bright red.
"My lady, what is wrong?" Joseph asked.
"I don't know my way to my room." She admitted. She heard the man chuckled a little.
Danzel was walking towards his room. He was furious. He slammed the door shut and stormed over to the closet. Danzel opened the doors with full force making the doors hit the sides of the cabinet with a loud sound echoing the room. He didn't know what he was looking for; he just needed something to do it even if that included destroying stuff.
