  In the morning, Isyl procured two horses from a neighbour, and we mounted to begin the trek through the forest towards my village.

  The forest by daylight was vastly different to how it had been at night. Whereas in the dark, it had been a place of mystery, magic, and menace, in the daylight, its graceful trees and pretty flowers showed their faces, and the road that had seemed so hazardous, was a pleasant pathway bathed in speckled sunlight falling through the leaves. That a Fae prince rode behind me, his arms around my waist as he handled the reins, in no small part made the journey less frightening. I did not need to fear the brethren, because I was one of them.

  “I think it is about here that I became entangled,” Rivyn commented, mildly.

  “I wonder who laid that net? And for what purpose?”
