Chapter 304 Vs [Vajra] (5)

"That thing sure is violent" - said Lenka as he watched the huge beast roar with fury as it threw lightning bolts all over the place. You could tell how furious it was and how the loss of its eye affected its power.

"At least our job isn't that hard, not to mention that thing doesn't have good depth sense with only one eye and has missed many of its attacks towards us" - Sakuya answered seriously as she continued attacking - "Now, I want you to aim for its one good eye, when we blind it things will be much crazier, but at the same time easier for us."

"Actually, I don't think that's a good idea."

"Cloud!" - Sakuya exclaimed in surprise as she heard the blond's voice from her communicator - "It's good to hear your voice..."

"I know, I'm glad to hear you too, but it's not time for this, not when that thing is about to enter phase 2."

"Phase 2?" - Lenka asked as she frowned.

"It's what we call it when [Aragami] of Danger Rank B or higher change their pattern to a more complex one after taking a certain amount of damage" - replied Sakuya seriously while frowning as she noticed how the [Vajra] was starting to concentrate all the lightning it released around its body, creating a sort of electric armor - "Depending on the race, this second phase varies, though it almost always comes accompanied in a massive increase in speed and offensive power."

". . ." - Lenka was silent when he heard this, because it was the first time he heard such bad news. He thought that [Aragami] of Rank B or higher were already dangerous, then for them to become even more lethal made facing them an even worse problem.

"Anyway, we'd better concentrate on what's in front of us" - Sakuya said seriously as she took a breath.

"Give me a few minutes to recover and I'll go finish that thing."

"You should stay where you are and rest" - replied Sakuya while frowning - "We are more than capable of destroying that thing."

". . ."

"We're not kids, Cloud, we're professionals" - Shizuka replied as she cut the transmission.

"That idiot... thinking we can't take care of an [Aragami] that lost an eye" - Lindow said from the transmitter - "Anyway, I guess we'll just have to show him that we're a team for a reason, we'd have something to annoy him with while we're at it."

* * *

Cloud narrowed his eyes when he heard this, only to let out a sigh - "Ok, I'm going to listen to him this time... I just hope it doesn't come to bite me in the ass later..."

"Target located! Proceeding to recovery!" - exclaimed a man covered in a containment suit - "Cloud Strife-sama has been confirmed in perfect condition, proceeding to biological analysis!"

". . ." - Cloud could only sigh regretfully as he watched a familiar silhouette appear on the scene - "I didn't expect it to be you coming to pick me up, Tsubaki-san"

"What can I say, I like to spring surprises" - Tsubaki replied as she folded her arms - "Though it's not the reunion I was expecting."

"I guess" - Cloud replied as he shrugged his shoulders, only to stand up carefully because he could still feel how his body was completely paralyzed.

"Anything I need to know?" - Tsubaki asked seriously - "Like for example, the fact that you were going through a process of [Aragamification]?"

". . ." - Cloud fell silent when he heard this, only to let out a sigh - "It wasn't [Aragamification], it was just an ability of my [God Arc]."

Lindow's older sister narrowed her eyes, only to let out a sigh of relief because she could tell for sure that the blond wasn't lying. She knew him well enough to know that he wasn't lying, but just guarding the information and saying only what was necessary - "If you say you're not transforming into one of those things, I'm going to believe you, though that doesn't mean you won't go through the necessary medical tests."

"I hate doctors..." - Cloud muttered as he noticed how a group of men 'captured' him - "Is this necessary?"

"You know very well the standard preventive process" - replied Tsubaki as she shrugged - "It's not the first time you've been in this situation, Cloud."

"I know, but it's been quite a while since it happened, and I honestly thought they would have found a better method by now" - Cloud replied while giving a blank stare to those present.

"If it's not broken, don't fix it" - Tsubaki said with a smile - "But well, I'd like to keep talking so cordially with you, Cloud-kun, but we have to go back to [Far East] to continue the medical examinations."

"Just keep me informed about the situation of my companions while I'm on 'forced vacation'..." - Cloud sighed as he shook his head.

* * * * *

"OK, this is worse than I thought..." - Cloud said as he looked at his teammates who had been moved to his room because the others were being occupied by the wounded from the last attack.

It had been an hour since Cloud had been moved to this room and he was still being monitored by the [Far East] medics, but that's beside the point, but the fact that Sakuya, Lindow and Soma, were injured on stretchers near his.

"I feel like a clown..." - Lindow replied while grunting with irritation - "I got overconfident because I didn't have an eye and paid the price... and what's worse, we were saved by the rookie with his lucky shot..."

". . ." - Soma added nothing to the conversation, but his irritated expression made it known that he was obviously annoyed with his situation.

"By the way, where's the rookie?" - Cloud asked as he looked around because he knew that a protagonist wouldn't die so easily, much less in 'Chapter 1'.

"In another room, he used so much energy that his body is at its limit" - replied Sakuya, who was the only one who was in perfect condition thanks to working as a long-distance fighter - "I have to admit that the kid is a diamond in the rough."

"I hate to admit it, but Sakuya's right... I guess that explains why you let him come to help us" - said Lindow as he stood up weakly, only to groan in pain as he felt the sting of the burns produced by the lightning - "By the way, remind me to ask the scientists to modify our [God Arc]... after this fight I realized that those things are evolving faster than I thought..."

"I'm sure that [Aragami] fell into the progenitor range" - said Soma while frowning - "Because it was much stronger than all the other [Vajra] we've seen... I could even say that its DNA was starting to mutate..."

Cloud had also noticed the differences between that [Vajra] and the others of his race. Not only was it much larger than the others, but its hue was much darker, its mane much brighter and its attacks were at least 50% more powerful - "Well, never mind... all that matters to us now is that we're okay and none of us were infected by that thing's [Oracle Cells]."

It was common knowledge that the stronger an [Aragami] was, the more dangerous the exposure to its DNA.

"I still don't understand how you caused so much damage to that thing, Cloud" - Sakuya said with a frown because her attacks had only caused a small distraction so that her two allies could attack more calmly.

"First, my weapon is much more advanced than yours" - said Cloud as Lindow, Sakuya, and Soma, rolled their eyes at him - "And Second, my physical abilities are much more prominent than yours."

Lindow took a second to think about a possible solution, only to shake his head to get rid of the crazy ideas that had been going through his mind. He was indeed thinking of using the [Oracle Cells] of the [Vajra] in order to increase his power, but if he did that it left the huge probability that his body would not be able to maintain the biological balance of his DNA, in the process causing him to mutate into a beast that wouldn't know the difference between ally or enemy.

"It's good to see that they are okay after that beating they took" - said Tsubaki as he walked next to Johannes - "And don't worry, I already talked to our technicians to have them modify their weapons as best as they can"

"It's been a while, Tsubaki" - said Lindow as he looked at his older sister.

"It would be less time if you came to see me, Baka Otouto" - said Tsubaki while snorting disdainfully - "Whatever, later we can talk more calmly, now concentrate on recovering from your wounds, you can retire whenever you want, Sakuya-san."

"At least look me in the face when you talk to me, Tsubaki" - said Sakuya with a frown - "Or do you feel inferior to me by any chance?"

". . ." - Tsubaki frowned when she heard this as she felt her anger growing - "I don't want to look at your face because I can't resist the urge to hit you, you little bitch!"

"Who are you calling a bitch, bitch!" - Sakuya roared as lightning flew from the two women's eyes.

". . ." - Cloud could only give them a blank stare, or at least that was until he noticed how his blonde companion was smiling at him.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Cloud Strife-san," Johannes said with a smile.
