Chapter 323 ( There is no brotherhood )

"Where is that idiot..." - Sakuya muttered worriedly as she saw that they didn't receive any news from the blond even though two days had passed. She was worried about Cloud, but at the same time she was annoyed not only with the blond, but with the others.

Tatenashi and Houki were unconcerned even though their beloved was missing, while Lindow seemed to be focused on other things. Soma was the most worried about the situation without counting her, though he didn't show it by his stoic attitude.

"Not counting those two..." - Sakuya could only snort in annoyance as she remembered how those two women only saw her with a smile when she told them about the blond's disappearance.

"I see you're still annoyed with us," Houki said as she walked next to Tatenashi.

"It's obvious that I'm upset!" - Sakuya exclaimed as she looked at the two women who were alone.

Sofia was training alongside the boys and Soma while they were each minding their own business. Houki had come in to work as a mechanic while Tatenashi had acquired the job of psychologist, covering two important parts that their group was missing before.

"I know you must think we're just being carefree or something, but it's not like that," Tatenashi replied while shaking her head, "It's just that we know how strong Cloud really is, that's why we're calm, not to mention that he can contact us whenever he wants."

Tatenashi wasn't lying, they were worried about the blond because the situation was upsetting for them. The two women had finally met with the blond, only to part ways a few days after their long awaited meeting.

"Now that you mention that... Why hadn't you come to meet with him before?" - Sakuya asked with a frown. She had seen how Cloud had been searching and waiting for news of the two women in front of her, only to see it all end in nothing - "We didn't find out anything about you, but the situation shouldn't be like this from your side..."

"If I'm honest with you, we didn't have any information about him either" - Houki replied as she was embarrassed at the black-haired woman's gaze because it was obvious that she wasn't believing her words - "I'm serious..."

"What Houki says is true, we had no information about Cloud" - replied Tatenashi while shaking her head.

"Let me tell you, I don't believe you in the slightest" - replied Sakuya with disdain - "Everyone in [Fenrir], or at least the top brass, knows about Cloud Strife..."

"Exactly, but we don't" - replied Houki while frowning - "I searched the [Fenrir] Central Network for clues about his whereabouts, but found nothing, I hadn't even found information about projects related to his [DNA] until I was informed about the mission..."

"A similar situation happened to me" - Tatenashi replied with a frown because it was obvious that no one wanted them to meet the blond before.

". . ." - Sakuya frowned for a few seconds before nodding, for now she had decided that she would believe them.

"Anyway, let's better change the subject" - Tatenashi said as she looked at the black haired woman - "I'm curious about some things so I'd like you to join us."

"What do you want to talk about?" - Sakuya asked with a frown.

"About the past" - replied Houki with a small smile - "I want you to tell us about Cloud during the years we weren't together."

"You can read the reports with your level of authority" - Sakuya replied with disdain and jealousy because every time she heard about the separation and reunion of these two women with the blond, a huge amount of jealousy appeared inside her.

"It's better to know things from a person who experienced it herself" - said Tatenashi seriously - "Not to mention that we might be able to help you with your situation."

"Help?" - Sakuya asked with a frown - "Help with what?"

"With your little relationship problem with Cloud" - replied Tatenashi with a huge smile.

Sakuya's cheeks lit up like Christmas light when she heard this, only to give the two women an annoyed look - "I hope this isn't a joke..."

"We would never play with something like this" - Houki replied seriously, though her expression quickly turned into a small smile - "There's no worse thing than playing with a woman's feelings, besides... it's better to have allies than to fight with each other..."

". . ." - Sakuya was silent for a few seconds before she could speak her mind - "Please continue..."

"As you know, the central base of [Fenrir] has decided to initiate this little project" - Tatenashi said with disdain as an annoyed expression appeared on her face - "I wouldn't be surprised if they or even the other branches of [Fenrir] send more women for the plan..."

Sakuya's expression was getting worse and worse, but she understood where the conversation was going. It was obvious that the higher ups would want the amount of 'superhumans' in their ranks and the best way to do that was to breed them with the fine stallion they had on their hands.

"I know, it's horrible that they're treating him like a ranch animal and I honestly dislike the idea, but at the same time it has its merits" - Tatenashi said with disgust, only to calm down after a few seconds - "First, the chosen ones are women who have a high level of power or unimaginable talent, like us, Sofia-san and Alisa-chan, that means Cloud has the ability to be able to unite not only us, but also the families behind us, or therefore the groups."

"That's why I never liked to take part in the power struggles..." - said Houki with a frown - "In front of the higher-ups or faction leaders, we are nothing more than pieces that have to be moved delicately."

She wasn't lying when she said this because she was aware that a single wrong move would make them react in a way that was not good for those in charge.

"Ok... I have some time, plus I want to know some things about Cloud before we met" - Sakuya answered seriously.

* * * * *

"Will it be long?" - asked Shio as she looked around curiously - "By the way, that was fun that helicopter ride ~!"

They had started their journey two days ago and were currently getting closer and closer to [Ashland].

"A little while away" - Cloud replied calmly as he frowned because he could feel the ground starting to get harder and harder to walk on. He had called in a favour from an old friend he had saved during one of his missions because he honestly didn't want anyone to know where he was right now - "Although this place is a bit annoying..."

"I know, it's a bit uncomfortable walking around [Ashland]" - Shio replied as she started jumping around with a smile on her face, as if she was dancing with a grace that didn't seem to come from an [Aragami] - "I usually don't like hanging around these places because our brothers are violent in this place, but I think we can manage unless we go deeper into [Ashland]"

"Do you think you can fight against... our brothers?" - Cloud asked as he looked at the girl.

"Hmm... it's complicated" - Shio replied while frowning for a few seconds - "[Ashland] is a mysterious place, just stepping on the ground causes your [Bias Factor] to be greatly reduced by the accelerated absorption of our [DNA], though the effects are much worse on humans..."

Shio was silent for a few seconds before continuing - "But thanks to our high defences and vitality, it is possible that we are immune to the effects of [Ashland], though you still won't tell me why we have come to this dull place."

"Because I'm looking for clues" - Cloud replied earnestly as he began to sniff the place, only to frown when he noticed there was nothing, though this didn't bother him that much because he knew it was quite likely to happen, after all, it had been a few days since [Fenrir]'s group fought in this place.

"Clues?" - Shio asked as he cocked his head to the side - "Of what?"

"[Tsukuyomi]" - Cloud answered seriously as the white-haired girl's eyes widened in surprise - "This place was where [Fenrir] fought and defeated [Tsukuyomi, but something went wrong in the end and they lost their core..."

"I see..." - Shio muttered while frowning - "Honestly, I don't think it's a good idea for humans to possess our brother's core because it's dangerous... not to mention that the others won't enjoy the news of losing one of their own..."

Cloud gave the girl a discreet glance because it was obvious who she was talking about - "Are you saying the others [Deusphages] are going to avenge their fallen brother?"

"I wouldn't say avenge, but rather check" - Shio replied calmly as her eyes glittered - "After all, there is no brotherhood among our kind..."
