Chapter 445 ( Dracoaguila )

"Aren't you curious as to what they're talking about?" - Kyōka asked as she cocked her head to the side and watched her two companions.

"Not in the least" - replied Kyoko calmly as she shook her head and prepared to go to the library in search of books about the fauna of the world - "No matter what they talk about, it doesn't affect us in the slightest."

"She's right about that" - Cloud replied as he shrugged his shoulders - "In fact, we should use this opportunity so we can get all the knowledge we can, so we can be prepared for everything the world throws at us"

"They have a point, sorry" - sighed Kyōka as she shook her head - "It's just that I'm so excited to meet other strong people that I can't contain the excitement I feel."

"I know, after all, it's the first time you two have experienced this kind of situation" - said Cloud calmly while giving the blue-haired woman a smile.

He was aware that the two women were extremely curious about their current surroundings, but the difference between the two, was that Kyōka was a free spirit, she expressed everything she felt without caring about the consequences.

"Maybe I'm being too hard on you, Kyōka-san" - said Kyoko was thinking - "I've been thinking so much from my point of view, I haven't put myself in your shoes and understood your situation."

"Thank you, although you don't need to be so nice to me" - Kyōka replied while shaking her head - "Anyway, let's better go to the library and finish this as fast as possible, by the way maybe I'll find the location of some interesting places, or some other strong races or clans."

"It's good that you took things right" - Cloud said as he nodded.

"You make it sound like he's a person who throws tantrums over everything and doesn't know how to control his emotions" - said Kyōka while crossing his arms and giving the blond an annoyed look - "That's offensive, Cloud"

"Sorry, I was just kidding" - Cloud replied with a smile as the three of them walked towards the library.

* * * * *

5 hours later, Menchi entered the library and saw how Cloud, Kyōka, and Kyoko, were sitting reading a book while a huge pile of books was piled up next to them.

Menchi was surprised to see the huge variety of information the trio had been researching, after all, it ranged from medicine, to mysterious creatures.

"I see you used your time well" - Menchi said as she folded her arms and walked over to the trio.

"We have to be prepared for whatever the world throws at us" - Cloud replied as he continued to read the book he held in his arms.

Menchi looked curiously at the title of the book, only to be surprised to see that it was about an encyclopedia of exotic ingredients - "I didn't know you had an interest in being a Gourmet hunter."

"I'm not going to say that I don't have an interest in exotic foods, but my goal is a very different one" - Cloud replied while shaking his head - "Let's just say that my current condition is not very good, and the only way I have to recover, is by consuming foods with a huge concentration of vitality."

"Oh?" - Menchi raised an eyebrow when she heard this as she began to take a bit of interest in the blond's situation - "Is it a disease?"

"You could call it that" - Cloud replied as he shook his head.

"Hmm" - Menchi started to think - "I think I can help you".

"Oh?" - Cloud raised an eyebrow as he looked closely at the girl.

"As you know, I'm a Gourmet Hunter, my area of work is finding exotic and unique foods in the world to create delicious dishes" - Menchi replied as her eyes twinkled slightly - "And not to gloat, but I'm the best at the craft."

Cloud thought for a few seconds before he pulled out a small package and handed it to Menchi.

"What's this?" - Menchi asked as she raised an eyebrow and opened the package, only to widen her eyes in surprise because she recognized the color, and the scent immediately - "Dracoaguila?"

"Dracoaguila? Is that what this creature is called?" - Cloud asked curiously because he hadn't seen the creature in the book.

"It is an extremely rare bird that is said to have draconic blood" - replied Menchi as she started to think - "Although this is just a myth because dragons in this world are extremely rare."

"I see" - nodded Cloud as he continued to wonder about what kind of animal it was.

"Long story short, Dracoaguila meat is extremely delicious, a delicacy if prepared correctly, and there is even a rumor that with other rare ingredients, it can increase the years of lives of whoever eats the dish" - replied Menchi with excitement because she was seeing a Dracoaguila in years, in fact, this was one of the reasons why she decided to become a Gourmet Huntress

"Oh? How good to hear that" - said Kyoko excitedly - "Did you hear that, Cloud! We just need other ingredients and a person capable of cooking them!"

This last she said while looking at Menchi, who only nodded calmly, after all, she didn't want to miss the opportunity to cook one of her greatest desires, a dish with Dracoaguila as the main ingredient.

"I'm getting hungry in thinking about how that thing will taste" - Kyōka said while looking at the carcass of the bird she hunted with difficulty, not because it was strong, but because it was elusive.

"I guess now we're left to look for the other supposed ingredients" - Cloud said as he started to think.

"To your luck, I possess three of the four ingredients" - Menchi replied calmly - "I have the golden onions, peppers from the river of death, and millennial rice."

"Which one is missing?" - Cloud asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"It's a slightly rarer ingredient that only grows on the dark continent, some tomatoes that grow from a dangerous plant" - replied Menchi while frowning - "It's not that they are rare, in fact, they are among the easiest ingredients to get from the dark continent, the problem is that the time they take to spoil, is too short."

"I understand, the moment you manage to find the ingredient" - Kyōka said while nodding.

"Indeed, they are already spoiled" - replied Menchi while shaking her head regretfully - "That's why those kinds of ingredients have to be brought in by order, though this makes them even more expensive."

Kyōka and Kyoko were silent before shaking their heads as things were getting more and more complicated.

"Well, that's part of being a Gourmet Hunter, having patience and a firm conviction to be able to get the necessary ingredients for our dishes" - Menchi said seriously - "This also makes the dish that much more delicious because it's full of our efforts, sweat, blood, and tears"

"The more difficult a dish, the greater the satisfaction in eating it, it makes sense" - nodded Cloud as he gained new appreciation for the woman in front of him.

"Finally someone gets it!" - exclaimed Menchi excitedly as she took Cloud's hands with a huge smile - "All the other hunters take us as a joke, hunting flavors seems like a joke, that's what he thinks, and they forget how we are the ones who put our lives in danger to get the best possible taste so those ungrateful people can eat something delicious!"

"I-I see" - Cloud muttered as he watched as Menchi didn't seem to grasp the concept of personal space.

"Oh, sorry, I'm just excited to finally meet someone with common sense" - replied Menchi as she scratched her cheek.

"No worries" - shook his head Cloud as he nodded in Kyōka and Kyoko's direction - "Well, I guess we'd better go get some rest."

"OK" - nodded Menchi as she folded her arms - "I wish you a good night's rest."

"Thank you, likewise" - replied Cloud with a smile as he watched the woman prepare to leave, only to stop halfway through - "Right, I was forgetting about this."

She quickly handed them the Dracoaguila meat, only to be surprised to see Cloud shake his head - "You don't want it?"

"Not in the least, in fact, we won't even be able to get the full benefit out of it if we try to prepare it ourselves" - Cloud replied as he shrugged - "I can cook, but nothing out of the ordinary"

"I don't know how to cook" - muttered Kyoko with embarrassment, after all, she was one of the women who didn't know how to do many household chores, in fact, her room was a mess, or at least it would be if it wasn't for the cleaning robots Cloud had bought months ago.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence" - murmured Menchi with emotion and happiness to see that it was not necessary for her to have to return that meat she had wanted all these years - "I really appreciate it".
