Chapter 497 ( The Beginning of a New Adventure )

The next day, Cloud and the others were walking to the headquarters of the [Yorkshin] [Hunter's Association], when they saw how a group of boys were looking depressed.

"Gon?" - Cloud said in surprise as he saw the group consisting of the black-haired boy, his friend Killua, and finally Leorio.

"Oh, hello, Cloud-san," Gon replied glumly as he gave the blond a forced smile.

"What was that all about?" - Cloud asked with a frown as he saw the young hunter's look of disappointment.

"I'll tell you what happened, we came to [Yorkshin] for nothing" - sighed Leorio as he looked up at the sky with regret - "We came to help Kurapika and to buy a certain item from the auction, but things didn't go as we wished."

"Kurapika told us that the spider had died thanks to you, so there was no need to fight" - Killua said with boredom because he really wanted to see how these criminals who had even survived some encounters with his father and grandfather were like - "And the things we wanted to buy, ended up being stolen and now we don't know where they are"

"What stuff?" - Cloud asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"A couple of video game consoles" - replied Killua as he frowned - "The console itself isn't what's valuable, what's valuable is the game it has built in, a copy of the game [Greed Island]"

Cloud looked at the girls with surprise because they didn't expect to receive information so soon.

"What's so special about that game?" - Kyoko asked as she looked at the boy.

"It was a game created by hunters, and for hunters" - Killua answered honestly, after all, it wasn't like he gained anything from lying now that the consoles were gone - "It was designed by Gon's father together with his friends, and it's the only clue we had to be able to find it."

"!" - Kyoko's eyes widened in surprise because she never thought the game was so important.

"According to my brother, there aren't many copies of that game, and the people who have it, don't want to sell them" - Killua continued while sighing in annoyance - "That's why we had come hoping to buy a couple."

"I only came out of curiosity and because Kurapika needed help" - Leorio added while muttering regretfully - "I did some time in between my tests to become a doctor, but it was a waste of time"

"I'm sorry, Leorio-san" - said Gon regretfully.

"No, you don't have to apologize, I did it on my own accord" - Leorio quickly replied as he saw how his little friend was getting more and more depressed - "Ugh, me and my mouth."

"Don't be so depressed, here" - said Cloud as he made 4 consoles appear.

"!" - Gon and Killua's eyes widened in surprise when they saw this while Leorio didn't know what to say in this situation.

"How!" - Killua exclaimed as he grabbed the console to see if it was fake, only to widen his eyes in surprise when he noticed how there was no difference whatsoever with the description his brother had given him.

"After eliminating the [Phantom Troupe], I came to the place where all the objects were and collected them, no idea what these things were, so I was going to look for information" - Cloud replied as he shrugged - "And since you guys saved me the trouble, I don't see why not pay you in the most correct way possible!"

Gon shouted with excitement as he took the console happily - "Thank you, Cloud-san!"

"You don't have to thank me, it's just business" - Cloud replied calmly as he was thinking about how easily everything had worked out for the protagonist group.

He was sure that somehow or other, Gon would manage to get these consoles, and it was for this very reason that he had appeared just where Cloud and the others would be passing by.

Again, Cloud saw how unbalanced the scales were in favor of the protagonists, after all, the world practically solved their problems without much difficulty.

"Why did you give them four consoles, if two is enough and to spare?" - Leorio asked with a frown.

"Because something tells me that you'll be involved in all this, and Kurapika too" - answered Cloud while shaking his head - "Anyway, we have some things to do, so we'll be off, I wish you good luck in your quest".

"Wait, at least let me thank you for the consoles" - said Gon as he appeared in front of Cloud with a serious expression.

"No need, as I said, this was an equivalent exchange between the two of us" - Cloud replied as he shook his head - "You gave us the information we needed, and we paid you accordingly."

Gon was about to say something else, but kept silent when he saw Killua shaking his head.

"Well, we'll see you in the future" - Cloud said before retreating together with his group.

"It's impressive how lucky you are, Gon" - said Leorio as he looked at his young friend, only to shake his head - "I never thought things would work out so quickly".

"Leorio is right, you have impressive luck" - nodded Killua as he looked at his best friend - "You decided to go out for a breather, and you ran into the same person who had collected the stolen items from the auction. If that's not impressive, then I don't know what is."

"Shouldn't we turn these consoles over to the auction?" - Gon asked with a frown because now that he thought better of it, these items had been stolen.

"Don't worry, these items weren't originally theirs" - snorted Killua as he put his hand on his friend's shoulder - "The [Underworld Auction], it's called that because everything they sell there, are items that were obtained through illegal methods, so technically you would be giving back to the thief, something that he stole."

"You're right" - muttered Gon as he looked at the consoles, only to then look closely at Leorio.

"No, I can't do that, I have to study" - Leorio answered seriously because he knew what was coming next, but Gon's gaze was making it hard for him to keep his posture, so after 15 minutes, he couldn't do anything else but sigh and accept - "Fine, I'll help you, but after that I don't think I can do more because my studies are important to me"

"If what we found out is true, then this game is much more important than we think" - Killua said seriously - "I have a theory that we will not only be able to train our fighting skills, but also other kinds of skills, in your case, medicine"

"It's a possibility, but to make sure this strange game doesn't get in the way of my studies, I'm going to bring all my medical books" - replied Leorio as he folded his arms - "I still don't understand how they always end up convincing me to help them."

"Gon is persuasive" - replied Killua as he shrugged his shoulders.

Leorio again sighed, only to see how Kurapika was walking in his direction - "I thought you weren't coming for a few more hours."

"You should have been, but now that the auction was cancelled due to the loss of all the important items, we won't be staying any longer in [Yorkshin]" - Kurapika replied while shaking her head - "I came to say goodbye for now, and we may not see each other for quite a while."

"What do you mean?" - Leorio asked with a frown.

"I have to discover my new goal now that the [Phantom Troupe] has ceased to exist" - Kurapika replied as he looked up at the sky - "That's why I'm going on a little journey of self-discovery."

Kurapika wasn't lying, he had decided to take a little break after giving them a dignified burial in the eyes of his clan members he had in his possession, and so he could find out what to do with his life after collecting them all.

"I have a better idea" - Leorio said as he handed her one of the consoles Cloud had given him.

Kurapika raised an eyebrow because he wasn't expecting something like this - "You want me to become a professional gamer?"

"No, if I'm going to help Gon in this, you will too" - Leorio replied as he decided to put everything else aside. He understood that his friend was going through a complex moment full of confusion, and that's why he needed all the help he could get - "Maybe having some adventures with us, like the old times, can help you a little bit."

Kurapika was silent for a few seconds before nodding - "Ok, I'm going to do it, even though I have no idea what this is all about."

"We'll let you know after you finish your job as a bodyguard" - replied Leorio as he gave her a blank look.

"Ok" - nodded Kurapika as he looked at his friends with a smile. He wouldn't admit it, but it was good to be able to be with them once again now that their most important mission was over.

With the annihilation of the [Phantom Troupe], he just had to gather the missing scarlet eyes, but that was much easier to solve than killing everyone who had caused the annihilation of his clan.
