The Mo family, as one of the major families of the all the Heavens, was naturally very large. They also had many subset families that they ruled over. The kingdoms would change per heaven, no king ruled officially over multiple parts of multiple heavens, however, the family existed in many different Heavens and held influential positions. This was the case for every one of the 5 families. It just so happened that they each had someone who was very old and very strong at their peak. This was the reason they stood tall and undisturbed, for the most part. Few would dare to challenge one of the 5 families, though the number wasn't none. However, that is a story for another time.
Even just counting the members of the family in the First Heaven, their were quite a few. The king had 2 wives, though he only had children with one of them. This was because one of the marriages was due to an arranged rather than out of love or lust. They were only married on paper.
The king's name was Mo Xuanqing. He was the head of the family and somewhere in the Grand Master range of power, as all patriarchs of the 5 families of the First Heaven were required to be. He possessed the Iron Warrior physique, giving him great affinity for swords.
The king married Liu An, the sister of the Middle Kingdom, but their marriage was simply on paper. They did not love each other. Her surname changed to Mo because of the marriage. She possessed the Eternal Ice physique and was incredibly strong. Her physique and Hui's physique would be similar in grade due to them signifying elements.
However, shortly after they married, the king married again, this time to a person of his choice. It was necessary to wait until after the king married the more influential person to allow him to marry her as well. Her name was originally Wu Shuzhen of the Wu family. They actually genuinely loved each other and had three children before she passed away from childbirth.
Wu Shuzhen did not have cultivation talent, despite being apart of the Wu family. This actually wasn't uncommon. Most people couldn't cultivate, and blood only helped your chances so much. It could be determined whether or not one could cultivate after birth, but not talent until 13. That was how Rain knew he had talent and how the Mo family knew about Hui. They came to test the second child of Jing, not knowing she had a physique meaning that she definitely could.
The first child of Mo Shuzhen was a boy by the name of Mo Fang. He was 11 and considered incredibly talented in cultivation. He was also very intelligent. He inherited his father's Iron Warrior physique and was trained in the sword from a young age.
The second and third children were twins by the names of Mo Na and Mo Enlai. At age 9, they were both capable of cultivation and expected to be incredibly talented as well, especially Mo Na.
The king also had less significant children by his concubines. Some boys and some girls, none of them inherited any physiques from their father and only were expected to have some talent in cultivation, though at least they could cultivate. Mo Duyi, the only son of Mo Xiu, was actually one of the more talented ones.
[A/N: I realize that I am saying we can't determine talent before 13. I mean you can't cultivate before then and you can't get exact measurements without cultivating. So talent can still be determined to an extent, just not specifically. I'm kinda bullsh*tting this part. Just let me know of inconsistencies and any confusions you might have. This part is not the one I'm focusing on thinking out.]
They king also had several families serving under him. Though not as powerful, they had their children who would also attending. Their were several of them who I can't be bothered to name. However, the most interesting group was also a clan of spirit beasts.
Apart of the kingdoms, clans of intelligent and humanoid spirit beasts would sometimes serve under. They were often looked down upon and seen as dirty, but in exchange for offering their services, they wouldn't be hunted so they endured the humiliation.
The particular clan of spirit beasts that served under the Mo family was a clan of humanoid spiders. They were often seen, even more than other spirit beasts, as ugly and disgusting due to their multiple eyes and limbs. They had a characteristic that allowed them to turn mostly human, but that didn't seem to matter anybody. They were still seen as spiders, and, as such, feared.
Going through the list of people in his head, Rain met a maid standing at the edge of the courtyard who would guide him. She gave him a surprised once over, before turning and leaving the courtyard. Realistically, this was the first time he had seen these areas up close, so he payed close attention. There were various gardens and statues around, with winding pathways and many rooms.
The courtyard that Rain had been living in was in the corner of the palace's domain so they walked quite a while. They approached a large building, that looked exactly as a palace should. Rain could see various people fancily dressed walking in an official entrance, but that wasn't the one they were going to use. They were going to meet up with the rest of the concubine's children and be standing inside. They were already in the palace after all, so they could take a back entrance and just stand at the back as the royal family made their entrance. They would get no introduction.
Continuing on, they approached an area that was just off of the major hall where the throne and the party would be located. The area was massive and interconnected to many gardens and paths that ran off to the side. The place where the concubine's children were meeting was a small side room. The concubine's, minus Jing, would enter later and just mix in with the party.
Approaching the door, Rain sighed.
'Now... let's see what fuckers I'm going to have to deal with.'
