Chapter 43

"Hurry up!" Hisagi yelled at his small team consisting of several members of the ninth squad as they were dashing towards the Tokinada estate in the trail of their captain and Hisagi kept cursing himself in his mind.

Yesterday, he had claimed that he wasn't sure how exactly the current invasion of the Ryōkas could get any worse considering that there were at least two defeated captains and one dead captain, these days would surely be remembered as one of the darkest periods of Soul Society's history due to suffering so many defeats. As it turned out, things could get worse and universe had decided to prove it to him with that horrifying spiritual pressure that had erupted from the estate of one of the four, formerly five, great noble families; right after the news about three more captains being defeated.

So yeah, he was over tempting the universe and was very much in a hurry in order to at least stop one of the Ryōkas before things could, and likely would, get worse.

"!" And of course he was far too late for that and was instead greeted with a literal bloodbath of a hallway and no Ryōka in sight. No, the only thing left was a single head with its eyes plucked out and frozen in agony.

"Can you identify the victim?" Hisagi asked as he looked at the fifth seat who had interviewed nobles many times for their Seireitei-Weekly throughout years while the rest of the men spread out in order to see if they could find some sort of trail and his captain walked up to him.

"I'm afraid I can sir, it's not good. This is the heir of the Tokinada family, Tokinada Tsunayashiro."

"...what?" Hisagi turned to see captain Tosen standing straight with an open mouth as he faced the direction of their fifth seat. "Are you certain?!"

"Y-Yes sir! I have seen him once before when I was interviewing his father and there is no mistaking it, the head belongs to Tokinada Tsunayashiro!" Fifth seat squeaked out with her shoulders tense, very much unused of the sheer intensity coming from their captain; much like Hisagi himself was.

"Heh..." And then the pressure disappeared and captain Tosen's shoulders started to shake before...

"HEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" Before he started to laugh like a maniac.

------------

"You should be okay now, Ishida-kun." Orihime said with a small smile as she wrapped the blanket she found around his shoulders.

"Thank you, Inoue-san." The Quincy said with a nod before leaning on the wall of the small warehouse they were hiding in. "Arisawa-san, is there anyone coming near."

"No, it's all clear." Tatsuki said with a sigh as she looked from the small gap in the wall. "No sign of Cain either." She said with a sigh before tensing as she remembered what happened the last time she saw him.

They had been at the non-existent mercy of that clown faced bastard and then Cain had just cut him down like he was nothing. She was grateful to him for saving their asses, she really was, but... his eyes, they had been so cold.

She had spent the most time with Cain compared to anyone else in their group and therefore knew that there were lots of adjectives that could describe him. Like 'asshole' or 'smug bastard', those described Cain perfectly, but never 'cold'; not like he had been against that captain.

Then there had been a huge wave of his spiritual pressure as he fought against two people who felt like they were on the same level as the clown bastard before he disappeared for a while.

Then his spiritual pressure came back with vengeance with the most vile feeling to it she had ever felt from Cain. Even so far from where they had been, Tatsuki felt like she was about to pass out from fear at the ridiculous amount of hatred she was feeling.

The worst of all? Somehow she was the only one who could feel it. The last spiritual pressure from Cain was only slightly felt by Orihime and Ishida and neither of them had felt that vile feeling.

She didn't know why and she wasn't exactly sure whether she wanted to.

"Do you guys think that the others are okay?" Orihime asked while looking down.

"Obviously, there is nothing that can keep morons like Cain and Ichigo down. Chad also has a good head on his shoulders and... yeah I got nothing for Ganju."

"Arisawa-san is correct, Inoue-san. I doubt that we have anything to fear when it comes to the rest of our friends." Ishida said with a nod and then they simply kept sitting in silence, trying to rest as much as possible before they had to move again.

Though Tatsuki was having far harder time compared to her friends as every time she closed her eyes, that vile feeling returned and she could feel a something looking into her soul.
