Chapter 44

"Whelp, guess I've lost them for now." I said with a sigh as I unceremoniously dropped Aura, whose only response to hitting the ground was a low groan, and sat down. The last hour had been... hectic.

That was a tame way to describe the mad dash he did when he realized that several Shinigamis were getting very close to the manor he had been in but in his defense, the whole Rika talking thing was very distracting.

Seriously, Rika was already at the level of a goddamn Vasto Lorde and had shown no signs of evolving from her Adjuchas form. That was the reason I had deduced that the hollows in my shadows were not truly capable of evolution, even if they were capable of getting stronger by devouring other hollows.

Though... had I even had any of my hollows other than Rika even eat anything in the first place? Maybe the whole getting stronger thing was just a Rika thing. For it to be otherwise, would it mean that the rest of my hollows had the potential to talk? God I hoped not, especially that hentai reject that I had killed when it had went after Orihime and Tatsuki; I did not need that thing to regain it's ability of speech.

As I was thinking more about the potential ramifications of this new discovery, Aura started to stir and then started to get up before one of her hands went to her head with a grimace.

"I see you're awake."

"...you hit too hard." The borderline emotionless delivery of her line was far too much, I started to laugh like mad. This woman was a riot.

"What happened to Tokinada?" She asked with a tilt of her head and I took a moment to gather my breath after laughing so hard before answering.

"I had one my hollows eat him." I shrugged, curious about her reaction. It was the first time she didn't have a near emotionless look, she wasn't afraid or angry. No, she seemed... intrigued.

"Eaten by hollows. How... poetic." She said and then continued when she saw my confused expression. "Being sent down to a pit full of hollows in order to be eaten used be a rather popular method of execution for traitors to Soul Society among the nobles. One that Tokinada was rather fond of as well."

"And by traitors I'm guessing you mean those that the other nobles didn't like." I smiled wryly as Aura nodded.

"Indeed."

After that we merely stared at each other. I had a raised eyebrow while Aura merely stared with no emotions.

"You don't seem affected much."

"I held no particular feelings for Tokinada."

"Then why serve him at all? Was he threatening you? Or your family?" I asked with a frown, trying to understand what made this woman before me tick.

"Not at all, he already had killed my father and I have no other relatives." She said with a shake of her head while I just looked at her with wide eyes at what she said with no feelings at all.

"Okay, I obviously don't have the needed context for what you just said so can we please start from the beginning?" I asked, almost pleaded, with my hands together and Aura started to speak with her near emotionless tone and I immediately regretted my decision.

Apparently both of Aura's father was also a Fullbringer who had went nuts after Aura's mother's death and decided that the best way to keep Aura safe was to lock her down in a basement and never let her have any contact with the outside world. Only to get killed by Tokinada years later, who had then went down the basement and taunted her with how he had killed her father.

Seriously, what kind of tragic BS story was I listening to?

And then, cause obviously that wasn't all, Tokinada had been amused by the emotionless reaction of Aura and offered her a place by his side; which she had accepted cause, apparently, she had no reason not to.

"...I thought it was only that lime looking bitch Tokinada but you're quite insane yourself too, aren't you?" I sighed as I rubbed the sides of my head in order to alleviate the headache I was experiencing.

"That is a possibility." Aura nodded. "But you do realize that there is no way the Gotei will allow you to leave Soul Society alive now that you've killed Tokinada, don't you?"

"...I may have thought about it." I said as I averted my gaze from her's. She wasn't wrong, the stupidly corrupt system of Soul Society would never allow me to leave this place alive now that I had killed one of their precious nobles. The chances of the temper tantrum of the other nobles causing even Old Man Genocide to get off of his ass and hunt me down. Though...

"But you might be surprised." A little voice from behind my head was whispering how they might not have time to think about little old me when they realized that one of their members had butchered their whole government body.
