  No! There was no way this could be true! I took a step away, but Paxton pulled me close again, nose buried in the crevice of my neck. This couldn't be true. Paxton couldn't have lied to me! Guilt, rage, shame, fear, emotions spiked through me hot and heavy, and the wolf pack winced, leaning against the wall as my voice became the loudest in their bonds.

  I'd been betrayed, again!

  "Wait," Paxton grabbed my shoulders, thumbs smoothing over my shoulders. "Calm down."

  I wriggled out of his hold, not caring that his fingertips left marks on my skin, even through the thin thing dress shirt. "No," I growled at him. I lifted my hand, and we all stared at it before I slammed it into the side of his face as hard as I could.
