CHAPTER 86 Karina

  The others shoved me forward, closer to the puddle of oozing goo. I bit my lip and glanced between it and the rest of the wolves. They wasted no time in jumping right through and swimming into the muck. As a wolf I would have been able to get some sort of momentum, but as a human I was worried I'd be buried beneath the slop. Why had I been cursed like this?

  "Girl," snarled one of the wolves beside me. He snapped and I was hard-pressed to jerk my limb out of the way before getting bit. He laughed at my reaction and jumped into the mud, surging forward and splashing me in his wake.

  "Go," Shepard ordered from behind me.

  Why was he following me like this? Would he not be satisfied until I was broken from all this? The mud wasn't still, it was like a raging river and the wolves fought against it swimming upstream.

  "Anytime now," Shepard growled.
