Rosie's POV
Oh holy fuck!
"Damn!" Sarah said, out of breath, as we entered my dorm.
I panted heavily and closed the door. After sitting on the bed and keeping my backpack aside, I stared at the paper note in my hands.
"Oh god."
I couldn't stop exclaiming that for a long time. After about fifteen minutes, Sarah had finally had enough.
"Okay okay stop!" She took the paper from me and then sighed. Then she took my phone from my backpack.
"Call him."
"What?"
She sighed and then turned my phone's light on. Then she went to the dialer. My heartbeat stopped for a second when she started typing the number.
"Hey hey let's think for a moment here!" I snapped and took the phone from her.
Only God knows how my heart is shaking at the moment!
"You know what… he wouldn't know my voice that well… why don't you talk to him being me?" I said with petty eyes.
Sarah was taken aback. "Shut up. You were dying to meet him once and now he gave you his number and you don't want to talk to him?"
I sighed. I knew very well I wanted to talk but I didn't know how!
"Well…"
"I'll leave you alone with your thoughts for some time. When I come back, I hope I see his number in the call log."
I stared at her sudden strictness as she smiled and then went out of my dorm.
Duh.
Is she really being that serious?
Keeping the phone aside, I started doing some stuff and changed my clothes for the day.
_________
It was evening and Sarah would be coming in my dorm any moment because we study together.
I picked up the courage and saw his number still written in the dialer.
Holding my breath, I pressed the call button.
Ring.
Ring again.
Ring again--
"Hello?"
His voice again captivated me. I almost gasped but then putting my call on mute, I panted. After getting my breathing together, I unmuted myself.
"H-hey."
Stutter.
Stutter more, you idiot!
Today's the best day for stuttering!
"Rosie, is that you?" His voice came quite uncertain.
How did he know my name?
That question couldn't gather the attention it deserved as I breathed slowly and replied, trying to keep it together: "Yes."
"Oh… hey."
"Uh… yeah. I-I am Rosie, oh but you already know that!"
That was maybe my way to find out how he does.
"Oh yes, I do know that."
I was waiting for him to introduce himself, but that ended up in an awkward silence.
"Uh… I-uh, what's your name?" I tried sounding carefree.
"Well that's a typical question," he said in a rather formal tone. "Most people would answer with their names but I have to break it to you that I might not be like them."
His weird replies with the oh-so-formal tone made me completely confused.
So, he's not going to tell me his name?
"Oh-uh um, what should I call you then?"
"I could have given you a fake name but I'm not so interested in that, so you might want to give me a name yourself."
What the--
Is it my fault that I'm angry at the moment? What the fuck!
I sighed heavily. "I-I don't know about that, what do others call you?"
He chuckled lightly. I was shocked. Why was he laughing?
"Does that matter?" He said after a little while.
"Uh… why not?"
"You can just call me hey or something. It's fine."
I sighed. It was very weird but I guess I had to agree.
"Alright."
The 'alright' was followed by yet another awkward silence.
I had no idea what to talk about. I had questions but didn't have the right to ask them.
Why would he even want to talk to me?
"Let's meet tomorrow, Rosie. Okay?" He said after a while, breaking the silence.
"Y-yeah. Yeah. We will."
"Okay. Bye, R."
R?
Is that my nickname?
"Bye…" I said as the call ended.
I sighed and kept the phone down.
Damn.
I'm very, very brave.
______
"What do you mean by I don't have any idea what his name is!?"
I sighed as Sarah yelled at me yet again. She's way too angry about this than I am.
"Well…" I sighed and told her everything - how he denied telling me his name and how I'm supposed to call him by 'hey'.
"Great."
She was pissed off for sure and I could understand that. I studied quietly after that while my heartbeat raced every time I thought of meeting him the next day.
__
"Jeez. It's going to be okay!" Sarah said to me and I sighed. I was staring at the clock in front of me, as I waited for the final bell to ring and the college to disperse.
"3 minutes and 43 seconds… 42 seconds…" I said to her and she finally gave up.
"Fine then."
I couldn't mind her at the moment. I was too captivated by the time and within a few moments, it was just the last seconds that I was counting.
"Oh my god, there you--" the bell rang and everyone got up.
My eyes widened. "God. This is--"
Sarah didn't wait and dragged me out of the class. I followed her and we were soon in the yard.
"Let's wait here."
I nodded. I secretly looked around to see if he was here, although I was disappointed that I couldn't find him.
Suddenly, I saw him coming from behind a few students - straight in my direction.
"There he is!" I told my best friend and he came near in no time.
