Chapter 44: Losing It

Wendy stared at Hanson. Her eyes were bright with unshed tears.

Hanson pointed at the photo on the wall and said, "This is how you love me? You said that I'm the only man you've ever gotten intimate with? Would you believe those words after seeing this if you were me? Wendy, there are limits to how far a person could lie and twist the truth."

Wendy was absolutely dispirited as she closed her eyes and bit hard on her lip.

"I truly, deeply regret that I had decided not to jump out of the window the day that I had almost been raped.

"If I had died that day, wouldn't all of the hate and resentment that we've harboured for each other following that incident not come to exist in the first place?

"I've really had enough of living in such a mortifying state.

"I'm Wendy Simons, the apple of my parents' eye, who was brought up lovingly under the wise guidance of my grandmother.
