"I'll double your salary."

"I'm sorry Sir. But I am quite contented for my position and I have no plan to change it even if you gave me that kind of offer."

"I'll pay triple." Shen Xi said calmly while Chen Ai was murdering the CEO inside his head. He already rejected him, yet this gorilla seemed persistent about recruiting him as his secretary.

What a pushover, he thought.

"Sorry Sir, but I'm not budging. If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave." Chen Ai got up from his seat, ready to walk away. Shen Xi looked intensely at the walking figure and his eyes darkened. His pheromones leaked inside the room, enveloping the corners, the atmosphere and Chen Ai himself.

Chen Ai, as a beta who was immune to pheromones felt the CEO's pheromones as well. Too bad, he couldn't smell it.

"Sir, if you leak your pheromones like that, omegas would be bedridden for weeks. It would be a trouble for the company later. Please calm down." Chen Ai said as he faced the furious CEO again. He bowed slightly and proceeded to walk out of the office.

'I forgot he's a beta.' Shen Xi thought as he narrowed his eyes, staring at the walking figure of the beautiful beta until he completely vanished. He did it on purpose to avoid Shen Xi's pheromones violently leaked out from the office.

Chen Ai blurted with an "Ah" as he kept thinking deeply.

Shen Xi said that he would triple his salary if he'd agree about the offer. Chen Ai analyzed the situation.

Yeah, seems so absurd.

It was very clear that Shen Xi had ulterior motives towards him. It's not bad to be cautious, especially from the people like the CEO. Who knows how many secretaries he had hooked up and screwed. Chen Ai obviously didn't want a job like that.

He isn't a bootlicker.

Maybe other people would distinctly climb his bed, because maybe they like that kind of life. However, Chen Ai was not like them. He successfully got his position through his hard work and earned lots of money enough to buy a Lamborghini car.

Although his apartment was not that aesthetical, at least he had a fancy car right?

But he kept questioning to the core, Why will he suddenly make me his secretary? Is it because of my beautiful face that made his dick hard? How bold!

Forget him, he was just like that.

"Sometimes, I regret being born beautiful." Chen Ai muttered and sighed awfully as he walked through the corridor, ignoring the fuming CEO in the office.

As always, Chen Ai opened his office's door and greeted the sight of his team members composedly doing their missions without mistakes. Or else, their demonic manager would get his demonic bar energy full and robustly destroy the room. Thinking about last time made their scalp tingle.

It was the time when the editing schedule was so hectic that Chen Ai didn't ate for a day because a certain editor slacked off again. One of the team members disrupted him from his work resulting Chen Ai, the ill-tempered beautiful beta, destroyed the room with heartfelt rage.

They reminded themselves not to distract him from his work after that.

Chen Ai was satisfied of what he saw and walked to his desk calmly. The team members' backs stiffened, monitoring each other's movements, afraid to move a single finger.

As he sat down from his desk, their eyes were in alert as they do their jobs. Right now, Chen Ai was flipping through the pages of the novel entitled "The Essence of Spring" which was the manhwa they'd been working on.

The story was about an omega who had a crush on his senior alpha in his department. He tried to hide his feelings when they're together, like in the process of hide and seek. Their journey was considered challenging, like a rat hiding away from a cat.

One day, the omega couldn't hold it in anymore and he expressed his feelings to his senior alpha. Who would've known that the alpha also expressed his feelings towards him, and because of that reason, they became a couple.

But, the alpha was being arranged marriage by his family and the couple had been through struggles and pain.

So, they decided to break up. They never saw each other for so many years, but the omega yearned for him through the deepest of his heart. But, he couldn't even get to him.

One day, he saw the alpha senior again. He was happy to see him, but the alpha was married by another omega. And that omega was the one he was being arranged for him.

He saw the alpha smiled to that omega, the omega was happy too. He was carrying their child which resembled from that alpha a lot. Seeing the alpha's smile, the omega cried. He was happy that the man he love was smiling, even though the cause of his smile wasn't him anymore.

One thing Chen Ai could say was...

"FUCK."

He blurted it out loud that the team members trembled. There were tears coming out from their eyes as they stared at their computers without blinking. They thought that they angered their manager again.

However, on Chen Ai's perspective, he almost cried as he read the novel. How could the author so sadist as he wrote this? Was he going to torture their readers like this? Although the title was cutesy and seemed so romantic, but that was a GODDAMN CAMOUFLAGE!

He shouldn't trust titles starting from today, he was in a state of trauma.

Chen Ai looked at his team members again and was surprisingly shocked why they were bawling their eyes out.

"Why are you crying?" Chen Ai asked. Cheng Li, the female beta said, "We're not crying! Some dirt caught in our eyes!"

Chen Ai was somewhat suspicious and looked at them suspiciously.

'We will not do bad things anymore! Please forgive us God!' They prayed hard and offered themselves to the supreme being above if they would die by their manager's hands.

'God, we were just young. Please don't take our lives away!' They thought as if it was a divine sutra, praying that their manager was in a good mood today.

"Oh okay. By the way, once we're all finish, we could go to the barbeque house and celebrate. It's my treat today." Chen Ai said, the team members turned into a statue.

'B-barbeque? Our demonic manager will treat us barbeque? I'm not dreaming right?' Biming, another male beta asked himself, completely stunned when he heard their manager.

'I don't have any ear defects right? I heard it correctly?' Cheng Li, who was awestruck by their manager had her eyes lit up. She then worked diligently just to eat barbeque later. The others did the same too and make sure not to anger their manager today.

Shen Xi in the office was puffing his face with rage when he thought the same thing earlier.

"Sorry Sir, but I'm not budging. If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."

"He was playing hard to get. How lovely." Shen Xi uttered while his assistant/ another manager in team A heard it clearly.

Wei Jian shrugged and sighed, "Mr. Chen was known for his strict attitude and personality in the company. It was expected that he will not agree with your blabbering nonsense. If I were you, just do your job properly and stop hooking up already! Geez if you're not my cousin I would've killed you in your office today."

Shen Xi glared at Wei Jian and said, "Who said I'm hooking up? They're the ones who climbed in my bed."

"It's the same thing you hoe. Mr. Chen is a responsible employee in the company and he's also important. His team is always known for being diligent and all authors who signed a contract with him got their works skyrocketed in just a nick of time. So, forget about him being your secretary. No, it's better if you don't have one cousin." Wei Jian nagged Shen Xi like an elementary school kid. But Wei Jian know that this impudent brat didn't even listening to him.

Such a waste of saliva.

"Hmm, then must work hard to get him right?" Shen Xi said and smirked as he gazed down Chen Ai's one by one picture.

Wei Jian gave up and left the office furiously.
