Beast power

Lina rushed out of the sitting room, strangely she couldn't breath, she gasped for air when she came outside. Thinking of the next place to go she ran towards the garden.

Lina didn't mind staining her dress as she sat on the bare floor, she buried her head in between her two laps and cried. 'Why can't I be like her? What if Lyle picks interest in her? I'm doomed. Why won't Lyle like her she is perfect!' Lina screamed in her head.

Suddenly she felt a great force pull her up from the ground, she didn't want to find out who or what that thing was, all she needed was a tight hug which she got from the person.

"Lina don't try to please everyone, don't try to be someone else just be yourself. You are unique in your own way" Lina heard a familiar voice speak

Wait a second! It was Lyle.

Lina struggled free from his grip, her eyes locked with his. "Let's go" Lyle ordered "I'm not going anywhere" Lina refused, "the ball is compulsory for everyone" Lyle stated and before Lina could say a word Lyle grabbed her by her waist and leapt away.

Lina wanted to scream but she couldn't, she wanted it to end but she didn't want him to stop. She was liking the feeling, but they suddenly stopped at the entrance of a big castle.

The castle was built up high, the royal guards were everywhere, pacing to and fro. Pearl was waiting for them outside the two big huge doors.

Lina saw that there was a reflection of pain in her eyes. Discarding the thought she walked at the same pace with Lyle.

The ball was big, different men and women dancing on the dance floor. Lina, Lyle and Pearl walked to the emperor's throne.

Lord Philip was sited majestically on the throne, his face had a smile which was awkward to Lina.

For the fact Lyle never smiled she expected lord Philip face to be like that of a hungry beast. Lyle walked to his father and it seemed they communicated through their eyes, they didn't say anything until Lyle abruptly left.

Lina and Pearl then greeted the lord with a courtesy and his response was so inviting.

Lina and Pearl then walked to where Lyle, Peres and Gina were seated. Pearl quickly rushed to occupy the seat beside Lyle making Lina to seat beside Gina.

Lina's mind went back as she remembered the events that just occurred a while ago,

Lyle didn't greet the lord! She screamed inwardly, in her land a prince that didn't greet the king have a serious punishment awaiting him. "Would you like to have a dance with me?" Pearl asked Lyle with a smile. Lyle looked at her before he replied "no, I don't dance”

The boring ball went on and Gina and Peres decided to go and dance. Suddenly a strange yet handsome looking man appeared in their front.

"Hi bro" the man said "Adam!" Lyle deep voice echoed "hi, look like you got some lovely ladies here" Adam said examining both Lina and Pearl.

"My lady" Adam greeted Pearl, kissing her knuckles, "good evening, my…" Pearl trailed of

"prince" he completed her statement "may I have a chance to dance with a beautiful lady like you" Adam requested and Pearl couldn't turn down his request.

Pearl left with Adam to the dance floor, leaving only Lina and Lyle.

An awkward silence reigned among them, Lina wanted to talk but the look on Lyle's face was not welcoming.

"Want to have a dance?" Lyle asked out of the blue, Lina was momentarily shocked, she least expected it besides he told Pearl he don't dance "no…yes…no I mean yes" Lina was confused but Lyle didn't wait for a satisfying reply he just took her to the dance floor.

"I thought you said that you don't dance?" Lina found herself asking "well I did that for a purpose" "wouldn't she be angry with you?" Lina couldn't get why she was supporting Pearl. "I'm not dancing with you to discuss about other people" "then why are you dancing?" "To enlighten you more about your beast power and the battle ahead of us"

"I know about the battle but I don't know about the beast power" Lina stated

"the beast power is a unique or peculiar power that the witches have, they have beast mode especially the royal ones. When they become excessively angry they use their beast power unknowingly. It is one of the hardest power or rather mode to tame, in some cases experienced royals can't control their beast mode 100% talk less of an inexperienced witch like you" Lyle explained

"was that why everyone was looking at me" "yes, the battle ahead is not just a normal battle but a fierce one, mark my words some of us are going to die" Lyle further explained

"What is the battle? Is it the humans that probably discovered our existence and think that our existence is a threat to them?" Asked Lina "far from that and even if those group of Homo sapiens discover we exists, they will not be stupid enough to declare a war against us" Lyle continued

"all this I'm trying to say is that very soon, I mean very soon the battle will break out" Lyle said

"what about humans? If the battle breaks out won't they get to know?" "That is the point, the battle's main goal is to end the world, the last thing I want is for the Homo sapiens to know we exists" Lyle added. The song finally ended and everyone returned to their seats.

Pearl had been watching them, eating vinegar, when the song was over she challenged Lyle

"I asked for a dance and you turned me down and went to dance with her, who does that?" She asked loudly and proudly "me" Lyle replied with a smirk and Pearl angrily went back to her seat
