"Hey! Are you okay?!" I was stuck looking at the sky as I heard a question from right over my face. It was a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, asking me with a genuine look of concern on her face. I tried lifting my body, but I couldn't quite do it without a surge in pain and more blood pouring from my chest.
"Ah! Stay there, I know somebody that can help." She turned her head, amplifying her voice with her hands.
"Sky! Domin! She's bleeding bad!" Eh? More people? I only saw one, and the ones surrounding me weren't any of them. Until… I saw him.
There. His latent face peered over into my field of vision, along with the shine of his hand.
"What are you doing out here? Were you bit by a rabid animal? We should return to our group." He said. Our group? What, did he think I came from his people?
He turned his head once more towards Shiro. Fearing his murderous impulse, I lifted my hand up and grabbed his ankle.
"He's… mine… don't… touch him…" I panted out. I could feel sweat dripping off my forehead.
"No way! A real dog?! Come here boy!" Just as I used to do, he crouched down and Shiro came right up to him, letting the white stone pet him.
There's no way Shiro would let that happen… Shiro doesn't take kindly to bad people, that's why I told him to run when I was enslaved because he would've gotten himself killed doing something stupid.
Now that I think about it, none of them were just sitting around. They were actively pushing against my chest to stop bleeding and focused on helping me. Not even Shiro felt bad intent… who were these people?
"Okay Domin, lift her legs up, Dani and Red, get her chest, I'll get her arms." They all assembled around me and picked me up from the snow. I was already wrapped in the white stone's damp shirt, and they carried me back to the beach. I could hear Shiro's paws patter across the hard, icy parts of the dirt underneath our feet.
I spent time staring into the sky. The snow seemed to be slowing down, but it still felt too cold to not shiver. The blonde girl, called Dani, put her head against my chest,
"I hope that'll help you stay warm." She said. What was with the hospitality here?
"Okay, um. Put her on that rock. Carl, you got me that axe yet?" The White Stone asked a man.
"Yup. Here." The white stone caught the axe and slammed it down near me. I thought it would be at my head, so I winced, but that hadn't been the case. The next thing I knew, a green, velvety leaf was placed over my body.
"That'll keep the snow from falling on her. I'll get more, but Red, see if anybody knows anything about wounds." The white stone said.
"I'm on it, Sky," Red said.
So, Sky must've been that white stone's name. It was either that or Domin, but now that I had the name of my target, this should be easier, right?
"My shirt can't hold a lot more blood. How do we stop this bleeding?" Sky asked. How much medical knowledge do these people have?"
I heard another voice to my left, claiming to know a little about injuries, but the best they could do is put more pressure on my chest.
"You guys don't have… bandages?" I asked, expending too much of my energy to speak.
"Of course we don't, you woke up with us today in the same conditions, we don't have anything but this axe." I turned my head instantly towards the people on the beach.
"What… what do you mean… today?" I asked them in pure confusion.
Sky tilted his head in confusion, but he couldn't beat how confused I was. These people, did they only wake up today?!
"Oh! Do you have more memories than us? Tell us, what happened before today on this beach?" He seemed dead set on having me answer his questions, but I defused that quickly.
"I'm not your group. I don't even know you guys." I could tell I confused the five people around me. "T-There's not just us on this Isle?" Domin asked me.
"Of course, there are more people all around. You guys really don't know that? I'm from somewhere else as well." I attracted the attention of everybody on the beach, and then realized I was supposed to do the exact opposite. Dante's going to kill me when he finds out.
"So, you're really from somewhere else. I should've known. That wound is far too accurately cut and placed on your chest to be from your friend. He has something sharp in his possession." Sky said, staring into the forest. If he went into the forest, there's a very large chance Dante would kill him.
"Y-Yeah. He might still be in there." Sky slammed his hand right beside my head on the rock and stared deep into my eyes.
"Why did he hurt you?" His gaze startled me; I froze up. I couldn't think of a response.
"I-I don't know," I replied to the White Stone.
He continued on, "Why didn't your friend kill him when that bad man cut you?" I shook my head and winced my eyes, pretending that the cut was starting to hurt again.
"Sky, don't pester her too much, let her focus on healing." The axe guy said.
"I finally finished forging axes for everybody, so I started work on our house a little. I have small trees set up that make five rooms for everybody. Do you want me to make a little room for you as well, little one?" The axe guy asked me. I shook my head with rosy cheeks. Why were they being so kind?
"It's fine. I understand it's an on-the-spot question. I'll make one, then you can decide if you want to use it or not." He walked off, to make a room for me, I guess.
"Oh, I can design your room if you'd like. I'm really creative! At least, Red said I was." The girl named Red pat Dani on the back and agreed with her.
The atmosphere here… reminded me of my own village, bringing a tear to my eye.
"Well, has anybody solved our food problem?" Sky asked a crowd of people, but the response he got made him irritated. He walked back over to me and asked me the same question.
"If you're struggling for food… there's more animals east of here by the swamp. The only problem is the distance you have to cover in order to make it there and back. They're dangerous." I shut my mouth. Why was I telling the man I was supposed to kill how to get food?! What am I doing?!
"There's a swamp east from here? Interesting… say, could you draw me a map of the land? If it's not too much of an issue." Sky asked me. I had an idea after he asked me that. I could give this map to his friends after I kill him, that way they still have an idea of how to survive. They weren't my objective, he was.
