Death

--Sky's Perspective--

-15 Minutes Until Providence's Arrival-

"We can take him out? Where have you been? And where's my mom?" I asked Illya. She shrugged.

"Hopefully Lucas and she are holding off more Rubeki so we can finish this up. Death shouldn't be too tough." Illya explained to me.

"I'm not worried about Death. I'm more worried about you, attacking my friends, provoking them into hurting you. What have you done that's so terrible that my friends want to hurt you?" I asked Illya again.

"I wonder. Maybe it's the curses from the Horsemen. If I've been with you for so long, how do you expect me to do anything wrong?" She asked me.

"I'll figure it out... how are we going to take this guy down? Have any ideas?" I asked her, ignoring the previous subject.

"I have plenty. But, Death is the strongest one of them all. Are you warmed up yet? He might take a lot to take out." She told me. I nodded, summoning the two purple sabers again and looking at Death. With a snap of his fingers, the large scythe he was holding split into two smaller-looking Kamas that were connected with chains. A Kusarigama. This was one of the weapons we were told to watch out for in Defense Class.

"Sky, the biggest thing to watch out for when fighting with the Kusarigama is the counterweight at the end. If you watch that, he can't attack you with proper openings." Illya told me.

"Has she told you yet? The truth about this world?" Death asked me.

"No. And I reckon she won't. I know something is wrong with it, but I have to kill you to figure it out." I told him. Death wasn't convinced with my explanation and shrugged it off.

"Are you going to kill me because you want to, or because you want answers from Illya? Maybe some things will jog your memory?" Death asked me.

Creating something with Rubeki with a snap of his fingers, I was ready to fight them... but they didn't come and attack me.

A Dog Rubeki ran up to a humanoid Rubeki and started eviscerating him. I mean, part of his face was gone and it actually looked like he was leaking blood. His chest cavity was opened up and it looked like I could see organs moving inside of him.

"This is disgusting... why are you showing me this?" I asked Death, but he looked at me in surprise.

"You fully wiped his memories? You bitch... I'll ask you one last time, Sky. You don't know about this world, do you? You don't know who the true villain is?" Death asked me, apparently for the last time.

"If you ask me that again, I'll be the villain you have to worry about. I know who it is. It's Providence, and every bit of pain we feel could be attributed to her. Your creation, the Rubeki, the evil in this world, she's at the source." I explained to Death. Why doesn't he know that? It's starting to piss me off.

"She's at the source?! Don't be ridiculous! We're the good guys of this story, Sky! You defend your home because it was under attack, but you don't realize who's really under attack. Who has raided our world and our way of life all to turn you into something that you would never be? A Deity." Death told me.

"You know a lot for a mindless entity, don't you?" Illya asked him. I felt like there was another meaning behind what she suggested.

"Without Providence, we would've known nothing. I think your deal was broken." Death told Illya.

"Again, you're leaving me out of the conversation?! Would you stop that?! What are you guys talking about?!" I began to yell, but Death wasn't satisfied with my volume and told me to keep it down. I wanted to kill him.

"Domin. Red. Does that not sound familiar to you? What about Ullr, Dante, Tavian, Orion, Lia, Carl, Dani?" He asked me again. I looked at him blankly.

"Why are you telling me those names?" Our questions continued back and forth.

"Because they're important to the person Illya is keeping inside of you. Those names are all significant, but Illya won't tell you who they are." Death told me. I looked over to Illya and her expression didn't change: It was still pure hatred.

"Who are those people?" I asked her.

"Obstacles." She bluntly stated.

"I think you've overstayed your sentience. Any last words, Death?" Illya asked him while raising two golden sabers. Was she about to go all out?

"Last words? No, you won't hear the end of it. I am Death, after all. Do you know my curse? You didn't think that through, did you? One scrape of my Kusarigama and you'd end up on the other side... wouldn't you?" He asked.

In an instant, a large, third arm that stopped at the elbow shot out of Illya's back and grabbed onto Death, slamming him to the ground and throwing him backward.

"Illya?! Since when did you have that?!" I asked her in surprise.

"Let me concentrate for a minute." She told me again.

Death was far different than I had expected. He was fast and strong, using the counterweight of his weapon to wrap the chain around Illya's third arm and slam her to the ground. Illya could move weirdly and dislocated that arm on her back before throwing her saber widely around Death. The saber ricocheted off the ground and hit Death in the back, cutting him in half. While he was on the way to hitting the floor, Illya tilted her body and slashed with an enlarged saber that tore up the ground in front of him.

She landed gracefully with a roll and slid on the floor, moving the dirt underneath her feet as she refocused onto Death from beside me.

"Since when did you have that talent?!" I yelled out to her.

"Since now." She stated.
