David was all set to get together at that precise moment.

When he was talking about it, he was making a reference to the activity that was occurring at the exact same point in time that he was talking about it.

Lisa did not exhibit any apparent shows of contentment; nonetheless, she smiled and quietly rejoiced to herself on the inside because she knew she was so near to winning the job. 

Although she did not display any outward evidence of contentment, Lisa was very close to getting the job.
