Chapter 47

  Sonja

  The world swirled around me like I was underwater. Voices of the Siv and Jasper would come in and out of focus. Sergio had helped me, a fact I didn't even want to dwell on, but I wasn't out of danger yet, even I knew that. And what's more disturbing, is that after having contact with Sergio, darkness was trying to awaken inside.

  "You're not needed here any longer." Jasper's snap this time was at Siv, or so I assumed.

  "I can understand you wish to punish me, but I need to be here for her." Siv held up a cup. "This will dilute the healing, but it will guard us against her falling under Sergio's sway. She's far too weak to risk it."

  "You know how I feel about that swill," Jasper spat. "But, anything happening to her would be worse. I'll allow it."

  Siv knelt on the edge of the bed, the mattress sinking beneath his weight. "Can you sit up?"
