Before Lexi could answer the driver knocked on the door. Alex walked over inviting him inside ,he pointed to the big metal cart, and gave him orders.
" Griffin go ahead and load our bags. We will be out in a few minutes."
He walked back to the table taking Lexi's hand reminding her of the question he had ask her.
" Sweetheart, you never answered me" he leaned forward placing a soft kiss on her cheek. " Are you late?" he ask her again.
She pulled her phone out of her pocket, looking at the date, before she gave him an answer .
" no but your not going to be happy next week."
A smile curled on his lips and he chuckled a little
" sweetheart ,that's what they make showers for."
He took her hand and walked to the glass door sliding it open shouting out to the younger couple on the deck
" Are the two of you ready to go? the driver is waiting outside."
Jackson helped Karmen off his lap, standing beside her he put his hand on her lower back , guiding her back to the chair.
" Babe, set down and let me put your shoes back on."
Squatting down in front of her, he slipped her shoes on her feet, standing to take her hand.
The two couples walked out to the black limousine together, where the driver was holding the door open for them to get inside.
Jackson stood beside the door waiting for everyone else to get in ,he turned to the driver giving him instructions before entering the car.
He turned to Alex letting him know what he had planned.
" There's a nice steak house about a hundred miles up the road, we can stop for dinner and there's a pharmacy across the street I need to go there too."
Overly excited, and not being able to hold her tongue Lexi blurts out
" Karmen are you knocked up?"
Alex's head jerked forward as the beer he was drinking spewed from his mouth flying across to the seat in front of him almost landing in Jackson's lap.
" Damm Alex you almost spit on me." Jackson nonchalantly commented, unbothered by Lexi's question.
Karmen's mouth flew open she set dumbfounded. Unable to answer the question her best friend just ask her. She shook her head to clear her mind, stuttering her words as if they where hung on her tongue.
"Uh.. Uh.. I..don't think so., and I think it would be to early to tell even with the most sensitive pregnancy test."
" Babe, you know it only takes twenty weeks to have a vampire baby." Jackson reminded her.
" I know but it still takes six to twelve days for the egg to attach to my uterus."
" Not now Babe, your a half blood."
" Oh yeah, I forgot about that, but that would still mean I would have had to got pregnant on the first night. So no Lexi, I don't think I'm pregnant."
Jackson's serious side reared it's head and his commanding voice thundered out.
" Your still taking the test, and buy all of them on the shelf your taking one every week."
Jackson's command made Lexi raise her voice in protest.
" she can't have all of them, I'm buying one too. And I'm going to buy one of those ovulation kits."
This had Alex raise his brows, peering down at her, as she snuggled close to his chest.
"Sweetheart, you don't really need one those kits . They just tell you the best time to have sex."
" sheepishly smiling at him , she batted her eyes. And rubbed her hand down his muscular chest. Her words rolled out of her mouth warm and inviting.
"Maybe we can stay in bed that whole day."
Karmen giggled, amused by Lexi's lack of knowledge.
" Lexi you have six days your the most fertile, your going to get awfully tired."
Karmen's comment had Alex narrow his eyes and take his phone out of his pocket checking his calendar. He pulled Lexi's hand up to his mouth kissing her fingers, his voice coming out tender and loving.
"Sweetheart, that's not a bad idea, if my calculations are right, your most fertile days should be around our honeymoon."
She pushed herself up to look at his gently and serious expression, stammering
" But... but..we can't stay in bed the whole time on our honeymoon. I want to do some other things."
He chuckled rubbing calming circles on her arm, to smooth her ruffled feathers.
" sweetheart, I just meant that will give us more time together. We can still do other stuff."
The limousine came to a stop, the driver came around and opened the door for the two couples. Alex exited the car, his eyes scanning the lively bustling crowd of people.
They strolled leisurely up and down the side walk stopping occasionally in front of the posh store fronts to window shop.
He noticed they were all vampires, but he didn't sense any danger. He put his hand out for Lexi to take. She elegantly slide her long sexy legs out of the car and stood beside Alex.
Jackson exited the car gently taking Karmen's hand in his . She gracefully exited the car standing beside him. She looked up at the tall building with a door man in front of it .And back down at her casual white linen shorts set, she held on to his arm grumbling under her breath.
" Honey couldn't you find someplace more casual, look at the way I'm dressed."
Wrapping his arm around her he affectionately rubbed her lower back, he leaned down speaking softly
" Babe, you look beautiful. And who's going to say anything, nobody expects Royalty to eat at a hole in the wall."
When Alex approached the doorman, he sprung to attention immediately taking a deep bow, he stuttered his words greeting the unexpected extinguished guest.
" Yo...Your Majesty , Welcome to The Char and Flame."
He held the door open, bowing again as Jackson and Karmen pasted by.
When Alex stepped inside the hostess, lowered her eyes and crusty , her hands trembled but she held her composure while speaking to Alex.
" Your Majesty welcome to The Char and Flame . Please let me escort you to our VIP room."
The two couples followed the hostess through the lavish dining room to a set of heavy wooden doors . A door man stood on both sides, they both bowed deeply when the Vampire King came closer, straighten to hold the doors open for them.
Inside the luxurious extravagant dining area the hostess took them to a large table in the center of the room.
And like magic several servers appeared, some pulled chairs out for the ladies others poured glasses of blood and water, one stood beside Alex and another stood beside Jackson ready to take orders.
Alex picked up the drink menu that had already been placed in front of them. He leaned over closer to Lexi making a suggestion.
" sweetheart would you like strawberries and champagne, I will watch you close to make sure you don't get drunk."
"One glass Alex that's all and then all I want is cola."
" ok, sweetheart, I will order your cola with our food."
He folded the menu over handing it to the waiter placing their order.
" I will have a extra dry Martini, and bottle of your best champagne with strawberries."
That will be all for now "
On the other side of the table a waiter stood beside Jackson taking their order.
"I will have an old fashioned and a no tequila sunrise."
That will be all.
Just as the waiters left to fill the drink orders two other servers brought menus in and placed them on the tables.
Alex looked at the menu leaning towards Lexi recommending different dishes he thought she would like.
" sweetheart Rosemary veal chops are delicious, they also have prime rib, the filet mignon is always a good choice."
She wrinkled her nose winning a little
" Alex, nice vampire restaurants suck, why do they not have seafood and chicken."
Alex had never thought of it before but she was right most of the more exclusive restaurants in the northern part of the country only offer steak, he offered her the most reasonable explanation he could think of .
"Because sweetheart, vampires rarely eat seafood or chicken, we eat rare steak."
With much reluctance she made her decision.
" I'll have the prime rib with buttered mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables."
On the other side of the table the younger couple didn't seem to be having any problems with the menu choices. How ever he did tell her somethings she couldn't order, but for the most part he was his natural laid back self.
" Are you going to let me have a medium rare steak? "She ask him.
" No Babe, but you can have a medium steak. And the grilled vegetables, no potatoes they could have sprouted, you just never know."
