At the villa, The Number One Hero of America landed on the front porch. Ringing the doorbell and bringing out flowers, she coughed. The door had soon opened, revealing a yawning Ari.
"A-Ari! Good to see you again!" It took a while for Ari to recognize the woman, but when she did, a smile appeared on her face.
"Cathleen... It's been a while. Come in, come in.." She nodded, putting the flowers out for Ari to take. "For me, huh? That's sweet of you.." She took the roses, sniffing them and stepping to the side. "Excuse me.." Cathleen bowed before entering, taking her shoes off as well.
The two then walked in silence until they had arrived in the living room. Siting down on the couch, Ari turned the tv off and sat the flowers down. "Sooo... It's uh...its been a long time, Ari. How's the low life been treatin' ya?" Cathleen decided to spark up a conversation.
It's been 14 long years since they've seen each other, so things were kinda awkward between the both of them. They were friends, yes, and they didn't leave off on bad terms. It's just that they both been through life changing things in the last few years.
"It's been great. Better than I expected actually. I'm happy, full of life and love... Everything's...perfect.."
"Ah, I see. That must be because of that son of yours. You never spoke like this back in the day.."
"Well, yes, actually. He's like the half of me I never had. Having a kid brings out a character you knew you never had, Cathleen.." Ari had blushed a bit while scratching her cheek. Seeing this surprised Cathleen. Back in the day, Ari never fawned over anything.
She was a child who only focused on the situation at hand, never caring if it meant she'd be endangered. She didn't care for the people who had eyes for her, nor did she have any for anyone else.
Seeing her now however, Cathleen could tell that a spark had been set in her heart. She seemed more in tune with life, not looking so depressed anymore. "I...see. Well, it's nice to see you so happy, Ari. A smile is what you deserve to have on that pretty face of yours.."
Ari nodded, pulling out a scarf. "So...I understand that you'll be leaving towards florida now, huh? Please, deliver this for me and give it to Orion. He's a strong boy, but for some reason can't go without this scarf. When he realizes he didn't pack it, he'll be sad and probably call himself an idiot..."
From that, Cathleen could guess that Orion was a big baby. "Sure, Ari. Sure.." Taking the scarf, she stored it in her back pocket. "Well then, let's catch up more in the future, okay? I'm sad we couldn't talk any longer.." She got up, Ari as well to see her off.
"Yeah, let's do that. It'll be nice...to catch up again. I mean it, alright..?" Ari made numerous promises like this in the past, one where she'd say she'd hang out with friends but never do it. That life however was behind her as she was a new person now.
"I can tell..." And like that, the two departed, exchanging contact information for the future.
....
"Nice to meet you, Orion.."
Her smile was full of confidence, pride and vitality. She stood for all things American and had the looks and aura to back it up. "H-Hi! My names, Orion! It's nice to meet you!" He saluted to her, spewing whatever words came out of his mouth.
Meeting someone the whole world had respected wasn't something that happened everyday. Orion especially wanted to meet her as she reminded him of a cockier, woman, and stronger version of Captain America. Everyone and they mama loves her and Orion wasn't an exception.
"Cathleen's, the name! Nice to meet you, Orion!" She extended her hand out at him and he took it, initiating the shaking of hands. "I-I just wanted to say how much of an honor it is to meet someone like you. Also, you're very beautiful.."
She nodded with her never ending smile, and they soon let go. "Ah, before I forgot, here! I stopped by your house and picked up a little something from your mom..." She reached in her back pocket, taking out the scarf.
It was black in color, red streaks flowing throughout it however. "W-What?! I forgot to pack this?! I'm such an idiot!" He face palmed, calling himself stupid while wrapping the scarf around his neck. After that, they both looked back at the villain.
"Kid, you have a strong quirk. With it, I believe you could change the very law of the world. Tell me, do you plan on doing this to every enemy you encounter..?" She wanted to test him, to hear his thoughts on what a hero should do towards villains.
Is killing them justifiable or not is what she wanted him to atleast mention in his answer. "Will I do this with every villain? Only those that threaten the safety of the people.
Those that harm innocent people shouldn't get a second chance at life. There's a reason God gives everyone one life. It's to see what you'll do with it.."
"So you'll kill if necessary is what I'm hearing?"
"Absolutely. Though.." Putting his hand out at the decomposing person on the brink of death had caused the capsule to open and the body to fall limp onto the floor. "This guy is a criminal. Death would be a way for him to escape all this crimes.."
Orion healed the man, but kept him unconscious. "I see. That's great to hear. Heroes need to have a heart that's able to kill. Desperate situations call for desperate times. Killing isn't something a hero should always condone, but it should be something they're capable of." She was satisfied with his answer and so, she placed her hand on his head.
"Well anyways, I should be congratulating you. You took down a villain all on your own. Stayed composed, waited for the surrounding people to run away and over all kept the damage to a minimum. You did everything...a hero is supposed to do. Good job, kid!"
Orion had became embarrassed, looking away with a red face. Seeing the Face of America smile at him made him happy, one of the most important figures in the world respecting and complimenting him.
"D-Do you think...that I'll be able to become a good hero one day?!" Orion said shouting, putting his head down in the process. Cathleen bent back upwards, placing her hands upon her hips. "Kid..." She sniffled while rubbing her finger under her nose.
"You're A Greater Hero Than Most People I Know."
"Huh?"
He said starring blankly at her pretty face. 'A Greater Hero Than Most People...?' Cathleen bawled her fist and had put it out at him as he stood their perplexed. "Kid, I'm going to be frank withcha.
Today's heroes,...most of them aren't as heroic as you think. In order to be a hero, one must be brave, have courage, show the people that when your there, all worries should just fade away.
The heroes nowadays are only in it for money and fame, not caring who dies. It's honestly sickens me seeing how the majority of them don't care about anything but themselves."
She had frown, undoing her fist and opening it up at Orion. "But you,...I see that you put the people before yourself, much like your mother had done. You fight for what's right, for peace and justice!
Kid, you want to be a hero, yeah? What if I give you the opportunity of a life time to become my predecessor? Someone who'll replace me in the future as America's Greatest Hero."
She thought of him as one of the last few good heroes out there. He was young, full of life, strong and above all, had the heart of a hero. 'She actually sees me...as a hero..? That's...'
Clenching his shirt with his right hand, and bending down into a crawl, he hid his face, also hiding tears that fell onto the cement. 'This is all...I ever wanted...' Remembering a time where his earthly parents had said he'd be nothing in life had made him sniffle even more.
They called him a waste of space, an existence that shouldn't have existed.
'I wanted nothing more...than to just be useful. No matter what it was,...I wanted people to know that I could help..' Cathleen watched the kid broke down into a crisis. He reminded Cathleen of a younger version of herself.
'A kid who's life is about to turn around. What a sight to see. My master probably saw me like this. But look where I am now. Thinking that this kid will follow in the same footsteps as me..as us, he'll be fine..'
She looked out at the setting sun, reflecting off the ocean and showing a beautiful sight.
'He'll be fine,..right?'

(An: I have no excuse. I'm just a lazy author that's all. Well, I do have one excuse and that is that in chapters that he cries, I like to think it out a lot. I want to give valid reasons as to why he cries, want the reader to emotionally connect with the Mc. Though, I don't think I'm there yet.😓
Also, if you don't know what the name of the chapter means, look it up. It'll help you understand what the Mc 'suffers' through.
Anyways, have an amazing day. I probably won't post til like tommorkw afternoon sadly.
Sorry.)
