Chapter 24

When Joshua gets inside the Tower, he is greeted by a thick sea forest. The forest is so dense that the sunlight almost cannot penetrate the leaves above him.

"Huh, I expect a grassland where the Bicorn can run around more freely."

"No. Unicorns usually have that type of tower floor. Bicorn can run and change direction with ease, making this forest a perfect habitat for it."

"I see."

Joshua takes out a flashlight from his bag and is ready to turn it on. However, before he could do that, Laudia held him down.

"No. Don't do that."

"Errr, can I ask why?"

"Bicorn is a well-known creature that is attracted to the light and will destroy the source of the light as fast as it can. Sometimes we can exploit their urge to destroy the light by creating a massive light nearby to distract the Bicorn in the fight."

"I see. That's why you decide to buy that amount of flashlight and candle from the store. We can make a trap for the Bicorn."

"Exactly. Come on. We need to make some traps."

Galloping across the forest is a massive horse. It has a black coat and mane, and they are two meters tall. They are rather lean for a horse of its height, but its body is filled with muscle. It is currently running at two hundred kilometers per hour while zigzagging through the enormous amount of woods on this floor.

The reason? It sees the light from two kilometers away.

When the Bicorn almost reaches the flashlight being tied into a tree trunk, the ground beneath it gives up and reveals a massive hole filled with an ice spike. The Bicorn falls to the ground and gets impaled by the Ice Spike a second later.

However, it was not enough to kill the Bicorn. However, before it could get away from the Ice Spike, Rachel and Joshua appear on top of it with a spell ready to be fired. A second later, the Bicorn disappears into a mote of black light. The Bicorn leaves a fist-sized crystal and a ten-centimeter-long horn behind.

"That should be our fifteenth Bicorn."

"Hmmm, let's hunt a bit more. We will get out of this place tomorrow in the morning. Bicorn is more active at night, and we can hunt more. However, we need to dig a deeper hole, and we need to do that fast. The sun is almost setting."

Joshua nods his head, takes out the shovel from the ground, and then starts digging. Laudia and Rachel, on the other hand, climb the tree to see if there are any enemies nearby. In the matter of a few hours, the Wild Hunt party was able to gather fifteen Energy Core, seven Bicorn's horns, and eight Bicorn's hide.

While watching for an enemy, Rachel notices something moving in the distance. She looks at her lover and does a hand movement. It was sign language.

"Strange. Movement. Unknown. Not. Horse"

Laudia frowned a little before nodding her head. She lands next to Joshua, who is busy digging some hole, and says,

"Joshua, we have a situation. We need to hide."

"Got it."

Joshua put away his shovel, climbed the tree next to him, and waited on it without thinking twice. After a few minutes of waiting, Joshua, Laudia, and Rachel can see something arrive underneath them.

It was a massive snake. This snake takes the shape of a King Cobra, but unlike a normal King Cobra, this snake is a hundred times larger. It was thirty meters long and had two heads. The first head sniffed at the hole while the second one looked around and sniffed the air.

Joshua widened his eyes when he saw the right head hiss in his direction, and a second later, the snake leaped toward him. He quickly creates a floating ice block between him and the snake. It manages to stop the snake from reaching him.

However, when the snake hit the ice block, it used its power. The left head split from the main body and continued to leap toward Joshua. However, before it could reach him, Laudia leaped forward and swung down her sword, cutting the snake that was trying to reach Joshua. On the other hand, Rachel casts a fireball and burns the other snake.

"Joshua, are you alright?! Does the snake manage to bite you?!"

Joshua shakes his head and says."No, the snakes did reach me. What kind of Infernal Beast is that?"

"Emerald Snake, a two-headed snake that can split into two beings. However, what made it truly dangerous was the venom it had. Only a few antidotes work against that venom. A regular antidote will work to push back the venom, but it only lasts for a few minutes and then will lose its effectiveness once used."

The venom from the Emerald Snake is not the fastest-acting venom, but it was the one that was very hard to get rid of. Because of this, not many antidotes or spells work against it.

"Rachel is not strong enough to learn the spell needed to purge the venom…."

"Actually, I'm strong enough to learn it, but I have yet to learn it. That spell is expensive." Rachel decides to correct Laudia.

"Huh. We should buy the spell from the Open Market. Anyway, that Infernal Beast is bad news. They are big, but they can blend in with the surroundings. What makes matters worse, we are in the middle of the forest."

"Should we get out of here?" Joshua asked.

"Yes. We should get out of here. Come on."

Joshua, Laudia, and Rachel slowly walk toward the teleportation device at the end of the floor. While walking toward the exit, Joshua looks at Rachel and says,

"Rachel, can a tower floor have more than one Infernal Beast type?"

"Yes, however, it was very rare for a B-rank tower. Usually, only A or above-ranking towers have more than one type of Infernal Beast in one floor."

"That means this place is a rare type of tower, huh?"

"Yes. Just like anything rare, it contains something valuable, but the danger rating is also higher than normal. Right now, we are not ready to hunt here. We need to buy more potions, and maybe the spell needed to hunt the Emerald Snake."

When they reach the gate, they get out of the Tower. They need to prepare for now and get back when they have the right equipment.
