Chapter 1: Rebirth+

"Darkness… For what felt like eternity, yet also felt like an instant. I died, I don't know how I died or when I died, all I know is that I've been stuck in this perpetual darkness since, it could've been a single second since I died or it could've been thousands of years, my perception of time in this space doesn't seem to exist."

"I'd tell you my name, but I can't recall it. My memory in general is in a confusing state, I can't seem to remember some basic things, my name as I've mentioned, friends, family and just about any person in general I can't remember, what I do remember seems to be limited to the accumulated knowledge of my education but not the process of it, works of fiction that I'd read or watched and games that I'd played. Through the knowledge that has remained, I've deduced my current situation is one of two possibilities."

"1. Religions were wrong, and all that is after death is an empty void. Though that doesn't explain why I've kept only specific memories or can even think at all."

"2. Some sort of wuxia or fanfiction like reincarnation/transmigration bullshittery is soon to happen."

And as I thought this, the darkness was replaced by pure white, and then it appeared… Of course it was… A System.

[System Speaking]

[Welcome, you have been chosen to receive the Package System in which you shall be tasked to go to a world from your memories and change things up. Any questions before integration?]

"Why don't I remember who I am?"

[Because that is irrelevant information.]

"I'd ask if I have a choice, but it definitely sounds more fun than sitting in the darkness or getting reincarnated into a normal life. I guess my next question is why are you called the Package System?"

[Once you have accumulated enough points, you can spend those points to buy character packages. Once you buy a character package, a random character from one of the fictional works you've retained in your memory shall be selected and you will receive a portion of that characters' powers. You can also spend your points to upgrade your owned character packages to unlock further powers and increase the strength of your already acquired powers.]

"And what world exactly is it that I am going to be going to?"

[That shall also be selected at random.]

"You said my task is to change things up, what exactly do you mean by that?"

[It means you shall change events that happen in that world. The points that you will need to spend are gained when you change something. You'll gain more points based on different parameters on what you changed such as how it affects the world as a whole, how different the change is from what happened in the version of that world from your memory and even more unique parameters like how creative the change is. You are of course free to not change anything at all if you'd prefer to just live your life in that world as you remember it.]

"So you're saying that I have all the choice? I don't buy it. Why even bother doing all of this?"

[No reason other than to experiment to see what people do with the power the system offers.]

"When I go to this world, what will I be? Will I be reborn as a newborn? Put into the body of a main character or side character? Will I be put in the body of some recently deceased waste of a major clan?"

[You shall, as the host of the system be given the right to choose an appearance of a character from your memories. Though I advise picking wisely as once your appearance is chosen, characters from the same world as the character you chose will no longer be available to gain packages from, nor can you visit the world of that character.]

"Okay… Is there any other things I should know about that restricts what characters and worlds I can get?"

[Yes, there are 3 restrictions on packages.]

[1. Once you gain a package from one world, you will not gain another package from that same world.]

[2. Before you can do anything, you will first have to pick from your 3 most viewed types of media, in your case it would be Manga, Chinese Novels and Comics. Once you pick one of them, the system will only select from that choice.]

[3. If you die in the world you are sent to, you shall have to start over from scratch, and all the characters and worlds they were from shall be locked.]

"WIll I be able to travel to other worlds than the first one I am sent to?"

[If you manage to gain enough points.]

"Can I communicate with you like this once I am reborn?"

[Yes.]

"In that case, I just have one more question before we start. Can I gain points even if the timeline goes beyond what I know of? Even though I will not be changing the plot at that point since it is all new?"

[Yes. Since the world will be changing according to what you are doing, as long as your actions have a noticeable effect, points may be gained.]

"Then I guess the first thing I'm going to do is select Manga from my choice of media. It definitely seems like the better choice. Chinese novels would probably grant me more power overall, but I don't think I'd want to live in a world like that and the chances of me just dying would be too high. As for comics, it would be better than the Chinese novels in that the world itself would be better to live in, but the danger is just as high. I'd assume since it's from what I've read there is a good chance of D.C. or Marvel and in either case unless I get lucky with the characters I get, I could be in a bad situation.

[Manga on the other hand, has a lot of variety, I could get put into a world without powers but gain powers myself from the system, and even the worst worlds I can think of that I've ready in a Manga don't seem anywhere near as bad a Novels or Comics, though that could be lack of reading the right stuff on my part."]

[Manga is accepted as your category. Proceed to appearance?]

"This might take me a while to think of. Depending on what world I get, appearance could matter a lot. It'd be bad if I picked the appearance of a lot of the characters from One Piece for example, since if I get put into a normal modern world and turn into a 20 foot tall guy with all sorts of unusual characteristics it'd cause a lot of issues. Age is also an important factor also, there is an advantage to the teenage years in a lot of Managa such as a majority of the main cast of a lot of worlds are likely to be around that 14 - 18 year old age range, but at the same time I think it would be better to take the appearance of somebody at least in their early twenties. Not too old to interact with the main cast of a world, if they happen to be that age but not too young I'd have to go to school."

["Then there is the choice of looks. Do I want the appearance of somebody that is considered extremely good looking or somebody more average looking, maybe somebody with an intimidating look…"]

"Okay, he's a little bit on the tall side, but it is still within the realms where if I get placed into a normal world he's not so tall it's completely abnormal. I'm picking the appearance of Alucard from Hellsing."

[Confirmed. Next up is the selection of what world you will be sent to.]

Some notes I'm putting that will explain some things plus answer some questions I expect to get.

[A/N1: I probably spent more time trying to find a good name for the system than I did writing the rest of the chapter, and even then I caved and gave it a pretty crappy name since it doesn't really matter, the name of the system won't exactly be coming up very often since I can just call it "The System" instead.]

[A/N2: I'm a brand new writer, as you can probably tell by what you've read so far. I'd say I'm not terrible when it comes to the grammar, though there will undoubtedly be problems there as well, I'd say my biggest problem will be getting the story to flow and not just sound like a robotic back and forth between characters. In this first chapter the mc is a bit more one dimensional on purpose due to the fact he has no memories of interacting with people at all, he will get more personality once he starts to interact with other characters and develop his own personality (And while I develop getting better at writing)]

[A/N3: Since this is a question I know a lot of people will ask. Harem or no harem? The answer currently is I am unsure. However, if I do make this into a harem, note my preference on harem is different than a lot of fics I've read. If there is to be a harem in something I write, it will be a VERY small harem. Maximum of probably 4 girls. Also know that I'm not against it, but not a huge fan of lemon, so if I do end up writing anything of the sort, it will be to my preference, which is maybe a paragraph or 2, never an entire chapter dedicated to it.]

[A/N4: The first character whose powers the mc gets and world he gets sent to have been planned out since the start, the character I'd like to think is quite unique since I've not seen his powers used in a fanfiction before but the world could be considered generic fanfiction world #1 since I wanted a world in which I have a lot of knowledge to balance out my lack of experience with writing. That said, I'm open to suggestions for future characters whose powers the MC will get]

[A/N5: Don't worry future chapters won't have this many notes. Just want to let people know of the update schedule which is basically unscheduled. I'm writing and releasing chapters 1 and 2 as feelers to see if there is any interest. If there is some interest I'll try to release a bit more. I'm not one for single chapter updates so I'll likely release a minimum of 2 chapters at once, but ideally more. After these first 2 are released I won't be writing any more until I've seen some response.]
