Be my girlfriend

"Let's eat together" those words reverberated in the room, Lucy was extremely hungry but she didn't want to look cheap or act cheap even though she appears cheap in his eyes. She told herself and her belly that she could survive without eating for a day or two.

"No, Thank you" she declined, adding thank you were certainly not her way of speaking. With the little time he'd spent with her, he knew she doesn't talk too politely. That's when he realized and was certain that his words earlier hurt her deep inside. Cheap wasn't a good word, she was seductive but calling her cheap must have shaken her gut and hurt her feelings

Lucy threw the door open in an attempt to leave the room that was filled with tension. Just then, she was stopped, she saw the mister's hand on hers, stopping her from leaving. Guessed he meant it and was serious about the both of them having breakfast together. "What is it this time?" She asked lazily turning to face him. When he beheld the look on her face, his heart clenched. What has he done?

Yes, she was acting naughty earlier which kind of pissed him off but she didn't hurt his feelings, so hurting hers was unfair.

She looked depressed and still in deep thought probably about his statement in the bathroom earlier. Her voice, her mood, the look on her face, even when she always looked like she was smiling changed to something different, her face said a lot about what she felt inside her and she was doing her best to hide her expression. He felt awful and sorry.

"Do you have anything to say?" she asked intone but she didn't move her gaze from his eyes. He did.

"I'm sorry" he apologized as he had planned. "I didn't mean to call you that, you just did... Sorry, I called you that"

Lucy goggled at him but not too visible, she could remember clearly that no matter how hurtful people's words were to her, never have they once apologized. Why was he apologizing? Could he be different? Uh-huh, she shook her head. Maybe he changed his mind about wanting her and didn't want her to leave. That must be the reason. She thought but his voice kept ringing in her head.

A frown found a room in her face when she saw that pity look on his face for her. She pushed him off with her hands, he was too close to her.

"You don't need to apologize. I don't need your pity and don't look at me that way" she threw him that stern look.

"Okay, I'm sorry. Let's just eat... Take it as my treat" he said. Lucy offered no response, she glanced at the food and then at him, she repeated that act three times before going to sit on one of the couches. The food wasn't something she could refuse just like that because of what he said to her and besides, he already has apologized genuinely and he broke the record of the first to apologize for his rude actions. The frown on her face vanished slowly as she settled down on the chair. When she looked at him, he offered a smile because he thought she was smiling when she wasn't.

Mister arranged the dishes on the table and she watched him as he does that.

Lucy couldn't wait to dig in and eat. The food was making her drool.

When sighted the big chicken she imagined ripping it with her teeth.

Eventually, he was done, she followed him with her eyes as he came to sit next to her, Lucy moved a little so the space would be enough for him. He never thought she cared. Was it because of the food? He offered a smile but she didn't and like always it looked like she did.

Lucy waited for a minute but Eric didn't seem to be ready to eat. Well, he said it was his treat. She picked her cutleries and began to dig into the pasta, chewing it as fast she could, and then she picked up a slice of bacon with her fork and added it to the pasta in her mouth before swallowing, she settled it with an orange juice. Lucy's stomach was already full with what she ate but her tongue still wanted more. She ate to her tongue content not knowing when she almost finished every food on the table.

Throughout, Eric was watching as she ate like a dog, he was left in surprise. Earlier she was acting like a mature woman and here she was, acting like a child. He chuckled and when she heard him, she swallowed hard and then drank water before speaking.

She laughed, embarrassed. "Don't mind me. I'm just so hungry" she said and he gestured for her to continue, she offered a smile and wanted to continue but suddenly she felt something in her stomach move, she now felt like throwing up.

Lucy held her mouth as she ran to the bathroom. Letting the food she ate come back from where they came from into the toilet. She continued until her stomach became empty again but she didn't have the appetite to eat anymore. She felt disheartened. What a stupid life to live. She muttered to herself. Suddenly, she was shocked when she heard his voice from behind her. She looked over her shoulder as she knelt before the toilet bowl.

"Are you okay?" He asked, worriedly looking at her from behind her.

Lucy stood up flushing down all the food, went to the sink, and washed her face dodging that question but she answered anyway.

"I'm okay," she said in a hoarse tone. "Maybe I was allergic to one of the meals there. Don't mind me" she said which was a big lie. It was because of her sickness. After cleaning her face and mouth, blood streamed down from her nose, Eric was surprised but she wasn't.

"Are you sure you are okay?" He asked again.

"I am, don't worry about me" she wiped off the blood away with water. "I guess I have to go now," she said as she walked out of the bathroom. "Thank you for the... " She glanced at the table and disgust filled her gaze. Did she eat like that? Too bad that the food didn't settle down in her stomach. She thought. "For the food" she finished, grabbing her bag in an attempt to leave.

"Lucy" he called her name again this time in a different look she wanted to understand but couldn't.

"Yes, anything else?"

"Can you do me a favor? A big one and I'll pay you fine for it" He asked, thinking it wasn't really necessary to do what he was about to do but he felt he should for his father's sake, the old man was retiring tonight and will be handing over his business to the only son he had.

"Really? What's that?" She walked closer to him. Lucy couldn't refuse money too just as she couldn't refuse food and when he said he would pay her fine that means a huge amount of money.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked but hasn't finished his statement because of the look on her face. She looked really surprised and also changed her stance. This man was asking her to be his girlfriend. What a good luck. When she thought her life was not worth living that's when he asked her to be his girlfriend. She imagined being a hotspot's girlfriend.

Oh my God! This is hilarious! Was she dreaming? She thought of what it would be like to be a rich and attractive man's girlfriend. She would live in luxury, with no stress, no one will insult her anymore and she will have revenge on her aunt for treating her like a slave.

Lucy was about to say Yes without another thought. She didn't think of why he said he'd pay her fine and why he would ask someone like her to be his girlfriend. She didn't.

"Just for tonight" he finished.

Now she was heartbroken, for once she thought she would finally live in luxury but that wasn't the case.

"Why?" She asked.

"I'm becoming the new CEO of my father's company and..." He stopped, taking a seat on the bed.

She wondered why he looked sad but didn't ask.

"Hmn"

He covered his face with his hand looking frustrated.

"Hey Eric" she brought his gaze back to her.

"Do we have a deal? I mean just for tonight" he asked.

"Well, I need the money and definitely can't say no to such an offer so I say Yes. Let's do it" she smiled causing him to smile too.

"Haaa, that was easy"

"I told you I can't say no to money but I don't have any fancy dress like you riches wear"

"Don't worry. I asked you to act as my girlfriend so I'd take care of everything. Get ready we are going shopping" he stood up adjusted his wristwatch, took his phone, and dropped it in his pocket.

"I'm ready" she declared.
