Spending the Night

"What? No!" Scarlet protested against Adam's plan. She does not want to be caught by anyone going inside a hotel room with a man.

Adam brought her down without a word and went towards the hotel he booked. He looked back at Scarlet, waiting for her to change her mind. She looked behind her and her heart jumped when she noticed the group of men was approaching her. Instinctively, she ran towards Adam and grabbed his arm. "Adam! Wait for me!" Scarlet exclaimed as she secured her scarf over her head.

"I thought you did not want to come with me? Who are those guys? Why are you hiding from them?" He asked Scarlet as they walked towards his suite.

"Hmm, just some guys I was trying to avoid because of work." Scarlet explained vaguely.

Adam entered the pin code of his room hurriedly. He opened the door and switched on all the lights in the room. He glanced back at Scarlet who was still standing right by the doorway. "Come in, it's okay. I won't do anything to you." Adam assured Scarlet.

Scarlet moved a bit with a hint of hesitation. But she can't risk it. Adam not knowing her is a rarity on its own. She fixed her hair as she stepped in. "I'm sorry, it's not that. I was just a bit nervous." Scarlet tried to explain.

Adam nodded and walked towards the fridge to get more beers for them. "Want to go for another round?" He offered one more bottle to Scarlet.

Scarlet closed the door behind her and accepted the bottle. She sneered at him. "Are you trying to make me drunk?"

"Maybe." Adam chuckled, seeing the surprised face of Scarlet. "Hey, don't take me too seriously. I was just joking." He said and sat in the chair near the window.

"I know." Scarlet lied as she sat in the chair beside Adam. "I don't get drunk, don't worry." She confidently blurted out to Adam. It was not a bluff, even she cannot explain it, but her high alcohol tolerance had helped her escaped a lot of sticky situations.

"It is the complete opposite for me. I am actually quite tipsy now after that one beer." Adam revealed to Scarlet. "The last time I had three bottles, I was out so long I woke up the second day." They both laughed mirthlessly.

"You know what? I haven't laughed like this in a long while." Scarlet said, holding her stomach while still cackling.

"Is your life that boring?" Adam could not help but comment. 'For a young, beautiful woman like her, it is uncommon to be living a boring life,' Adam thought to himself as he observed the genuine smile in her eyes.

Scarlet placed her bottle on the table between them before she confronted Adam. "Come on, you don't look like your life is fun, either."

Adam looked directly into Scarlet's eyes. "Ahh, really now? What made you think so?" He wanted to know what gave him away to Scarlet.

Scarlet laughed at Adam and leaned forward. "Hmm, like me? You are alone, drinking with a stranger." She grabbed her beer bottle and chugged it. "Well, at least you are stuck with a pretty one, right?" She cackled.

Adam raised his bottle to Scarlet. "With that I agree." He looked at Scarlet intently. "You know what? You look familiar. Are you a model or something?" Adam added as he was low key appreciating Scarlet's beauty.

Scarlet coughed hearing Adam's question; she did not expect to get caught this quick. "Hmm, I hope so. I mean I could use that extra cash." She let out a nervous laugh. Scarlet glanced back at Adam, wanting to see how he would react. "Eh, my face is pretty generic, so…" She shrugged her shoulders.

Adam nodded. "I don't know about that, but whatever you say…" He stood up and went to his bedside to pick up the phone. "Do you want some chips or nachos?" He looked at Scarlet and asked.

Scarlet agreed, "Nachos, add tons of cheese please." She answered as she peeked through the window. The group of men is still in front of the hotel, lounging at the beachfront. She took a deep sigh, feeling annoyed that she could not make the most out of the rare chance of going out exploring the world. "Gosh, when are they going to go? Are they planning an all nighters out there?" Scarlet can't help but blurt out her frustration.

Adam ordered for room service. He walked towards Scarlet and stood behind her as she was looking out of the window. "Well, it sure seems like that." He said, confirming Scarlet's assumption.

"Such a shame, right? I mean, the weather is really nice and the moon so bright, it's reflecting on the sea. I hardly ever see such an amazing view and now I'm here." Scarlet pouted her lips as she continued ranting.

Adam hissed and held onto his chest. "Ouch, is it really that bad being with me?" He asked in a tone of disbelief.

Scarlet moved away from the window and raised both her hands. "Oops, sorry. I did not mean it that way." She tried explaining her stand. She has this natural tendency to be tactless. She even surprises herself with how offensive her words could be at times.

"Hey! I'm just kidding." Adam laughed out loud and bumped Scarlet on the shoulders. It was a little too hard than the way he planned. They fell over while both laughing. Their eyes locked and a brewing silence grew in between them.

Scarlet can feel her heart beat so hard she can hear it like it was a beat of a drum right on her chest. Their faces drawn towards each other, Scarlet have faked this in her acting scenes before but now… It is finally something real with a stranger.

Adam bit his lips while the space between their lips slowly closed out. His breathing became faster; almost feeling like he was out of breath. "Ding dong" The sound of the doorbell interrupted their intimate scene.

"Ahem, I should get that." Adam sat up and helped Scarlet too. He stood up and went to the door and accepted the food. "Come with me!" Adam said and extended his hand to Scarlet.

"What the heck am I doing here?" Scarlet thought as she accepted Adam's hand as he dragged him towards a staircase in his room. "You have a rooftop in your suite?" She exclaimed as they rushed on the stairs. "How cool!" she shrieked in excitement.

"It is cool! That's why I chose this suite." He exclaimed back at Scarlet. Adam smiled, looking at her, savoring the fresh air once again as they hid perfectly from the crowd but still were able to enjoy this beautiful night. "I'm glad you like it here." He said in a soft voice as he sat on the outdoor rattan swing chair.

Scarlet looked back at Adam and saw him swinging lightly on the chair. "That is a nice chair!" She commented like an excited little kid who set out on her own for the first time.

Adam loved how innocent she is, her funny little quirks seemed legit. She was not trying to be cute or what not, but she really was oblivious to some small things like this. "Is it really your first time out? You seem to be excited about pretty insignificant things around you." He asked Scarlet who was walking towards him.

"I would not call them insignificant. It's just that my life is too fast-paced. I barely have time to observe and adore the little things around me." Scarlet explained in a serious tone. "I want to make memories, deviate from my routine and have fun. Is that too much to ask for?" She said with a hint of frustration.

Adam did not respond, but he understood every word Scarlet said. He pulled in Scarlet closer to him; she ended up sitting on his lap. Their eyes locked again, like they wanted to finish what they started earlier. Adam did not refuse his urge claiming those beautiful lips. Her soft lips melted in his warm kisses. Adam was not usually bold like this, but the moment felt right and Scarlet opening up to his kisses made him more confident.

Scarlet's eyes widened as their lips touched. Adam's eyes were closed as they kissed. She was taken aback, but not enough for her to pull out from his warmth. In fact, she wanted more of him, that she parted her lips for deeper ones. She could barely breathe when their burning skin touched each other. Scarlet could barely talk but still was able to ask Adam. "What's this?"

He pecked her lips and answered. "Making memories…" Those words were enough for her to dive back into their intimate session. Adam carried Scarlet to her bed. They spent the night making out until they both fell asleep. It was clear to Adam that Scarlet was not ready for something more. He respected her position, but still made the most out of what she was ready to share with him.

"beep, beep, beep" Adam woken up to the sound of his alarm clock. He grunted as he turned it off but also excitedly turned to his side only to be greeted with disappointment as Scarlet was no longer there. He stood up and found a note on the side table.

"Adam! Thanks for keeping me company. I had fun. This is truly the most memorable night of my life." She wrote her signature and a date on top of it. It was a curt note, but it was more than enough for Adam. He even laughed seeing her signature with a date on it, but he kept the note inside his wallet. This short escapade was the same for him; brief but memorable.
