Geography

The following morning their classes then took place.

"Better watch out today, Cindy." Anna called out to her classmate. She gave the girl a feral smile. "For someone who thinks that you only need to fight to become a Rifter, you might get eliminated fast."

"Please don't worry about me, worry about yourself first." Cindy smiled back thinly. "You might eat your words."

"Please don't fight too much, girls," Flaura then gently coaxed Cindy to talk with her and the rest of them. Cindy turned her back on them and ignored both Anna and Ryo. It seemed like a lot of the students were chatting with one another and even had books.

Ryo raised a brow silently and looked at Anna.

"I heard some students were about to be eliminated the other day in another class," Anna said. "Unlike Professor Allan who just wanted names last time, I think some teachers immediately started tests at once."

"I see," Ryo frowned.

"You seem like you'd do well with tests," Anna said.

Ryo smiled and shook his head. "No, not really."

"Now you're just being humble." Anna grinned. "Or you don't want me to copy you."

"I'm new to this much more than you."

"Oh, right."

Ryo glanced around the room. True to what Anna said, the students in the classroom started busily chatting. He eavesdropped a little and realized that they were building plans in case the events of the other day happened again.

He glanced at Anna and realized something. Each member of the group was determined to get points, even if they took advantage of their own friends. He didn't know if Anna was joking about the copying part.

She probably was, since there was much more to her background than Ryo knew.

This classroom was full of monsters after all… but he didn't have much time to think about it. Not too long after, Professor Allan entered the classroom and immediately started their classes. He presented a hologram figure as the entire room darkened so they could focus on the hologram.

"Today we will be tackling geography," Professor Allan said.

"What? Seriously?!"

"If someone interrupts me one more time, you'll be gone before you know it." Professor Allan's eyes glinted from beneath his glasses. "Check your WristNects for the study material so you guys can follow along."

As promised, when Ryo checked, he saw the text version of what the Professor was talking about. It was about the current condition of the earth's surface and to which 70% of the earth's land was no longer suitable for habitation.

"If a Rifter is unfamiliar with their terrain and environment, you'll end up dying due to your surroundings before you'll ever meet monsters," Professor Allan said.

As the professor lectured the entire class, Ryo quickly scanned the document as discreetly as he could. The pace they were going through was fine, but he was curious of what other details the study material provided.

"Now what do I mean by inhabitable?"

"Professor, is it because the deserts have covered so much area around the world?"

Ryo didn't think that was the full answer. Although, the deserts had expanded so much around the world because of climate change that occured, it was only because of the shifts that happened in Earth's orbit. Humans adapted well, so that wasn't what made it fully inhospitable at all.

As he read, Ryo thought it was kind of cool that the Earth's revolution now took 370 days, and February became 30 days in a leap year. But that was just a minor detail, he continued to read as the Professor spoke.

"While it's true that the desert is a harsh environment, the forests of Europe have become the habitat of wild creatures from outside the solar system that landed." Professor Allan explained. "They evolved when they absorbed the energy of the Earth element and they couldn't return to their old homes."

Ryo nodded silently.

The Elemental Beasts became the rulers of the forests. These creatures had Crystal Cores in their bodies, and these Crystals were condensed elemental energy. Oh, they were sold at high prices or used to increase cultivation.

Perhaps Ryo could obtain one of them in the future? He took note that Mid-rank Rifters usually hunted them, not just for Crystal Cores, but because all body parts could be used.

"As for the continent of Australia, it has been completely destroyed. Its geographically flattened condition became the ideal battlefield on a large scale and where a lot of battles took place in the past. This continent has now become a haven for the alien beings who could not return to their place of origin."

Ryo's expression became solemn as he heard it, but then continued to read while Professor Allan recounted some details and answered questions for the others.

The continent that used to be called the Kangaroo Continent was now called the Dark Continent. It took hundreds of years to rebuild this continent as it was, so the World Government decided to abandon this place.

Many criminals with the death penalty chose to gamble with their lives and exiled themself on this continent.

At the end of the day, Ryo got 10 points from the quiz given by Prof. Allan.

One hundred fifty Upper Class students became the first victims of the cruel elimination system and got minus marks. They underestimated the academy's supervisory system, boasting and doing what they wanted.

It didn't matter if they were the children of an important figure, every one of them was forcibly sent home.

On the third day was a lecture on the system of government; [New World Rules]. It was a word that had been talked about since the beginning of the 21st century.

Although it had been stamped in 1880, many people misinterpreted this rule. They believed that this rule was made to control all human beings by one person or organization.

However, it was all just mass brainwashing carried out by the government at that time. They didn't want to lose control of their land, spreading propaganda to control their people for their own benefit.

Only when humanity was truly cornered would they understand what the New World Order really meant, not to control but to enlighten.

A rule that existed not because it was made or triggered. The rules existed and were created because of the consciousness of all humans. All mankind was finally enlightened, and they slowly made rules on a common consciousness, not just for the benefit of individuals or groups.

It was finally a quiet day that Ryo had longed for since he came to White Raven. Lucas was nowhere to be seen in the dorm room when he came back from class.

He could continue his cultivation in peace and was ready to open the fourth and fifth gates the next day.

It was late afternoon when he was about to continue his cultivation. Because the gym center building was being used, he headed for the wide field, in the northeast, next to the Katyushka Mansion area. The wide field was very quiet in the afternoon because it was only used for parking private jets.

"Looks like you got an interesting idea, but here the amount of energy is low," said Kuryu, suddenly entering Ryo's mind.

"No problem, I want to try something," he replied.

"Oh? Something interesting?"

"More or less, I want to try creating my own technique."

"Hahaha, if you can, I'll teach you a new technique."

"If you lie, I'll throw you into the ocean trench."

"Agreed."
