The letter had been tightly encased within a black envelope with an official seal on it, declaring it to be from the Eastern headquarters.

"Do you know where the others are?" Elanor asked, taking the letter from the boy.

"The boy and the silver girl went off to fight the monsters," the girl answered. "Then Tessie went after them not too long ago."

'Tessie?' Elanor thought.

"Do you know which way they went?" Elanor asked.

"Last I saw, they were heading upstream," a woman answered her, appearing at the bottom of the stairs. "Come on, you two," he said to the twins, "let her pass." The woman extended a hand to Elanor. "I'm Maggie, Trevor's wife and the mother to these two rascals," she said, gesturing to the twins with her free hand.
