Facing the Past

FLASHBACK 

Luck. That's what first ran through Amelia's mind when Jackeline told her that she knew one of the managers of a children's home who was willing to have her.

"Really? When am I supposed to report?" Amelia asked joyfully.

"Whenever you want," Jackeline responded.

Amelia jumped up and down the room she was in. Her joy was so contagious.

"Thank you. Thank you," Amelia said as she tightly hugged Jackeline. "I'll start tomorrow. I promise that you won't regret this."

  That evening, Amelia packed all the stuff Jackeline had helped her purchase and put them in a small bag. She knew she was about to venture into something unknown, but she didn't feel afraid.

The next morning, Jackeline dropped off Amelia at her new workstation.
